Work Scheduling and Tracking (or) Records and Electronic Systems:
o I found a need to establish a program that would keep track of assignable work orders
and event coordinated order forms. I contacted Building Engines establish a working
relationship. Working closely with (Building Engines) using their program, we
adjusted the program, to be suited to the Zoo New England’s needs. Assigning work
to our technicians and vendors for work orders, events, and checking on their
progress throughout our campus. Providing reports on work results to supervisors
after the work was finished.
o By add our preventive maintenance (PM's) tasks to our Out Look calendar; I was able
track a task and reschedule a service calls more efficiently.
o With the continuous work in facilities department, I have active contacts with vendors
for projects, contracts and supplies...
o I was an active team member providing information, implementations and
suggestions to both the Project committee, Utilities Savings Resource Management
committee and Safety Committee
o As a Coordinator, I assigned and provided services for zoo parties and events.
Working closely with our Events, Education and Development Departments, to
provided equipment, assign staffing for setting up/braking down the equipment
thought the zoo.
o We would have many volunteer groups come in to work at the zoo. I was responsible
for the facility's volunteers. I provided equipment, assigns the tasks for the day,
instructed the volunteer on the projects to be completed. I also worked closely with
the summer zoo teen’s program for the facilities department Another Volunteer
program I was responsible for as a Zoo New England partner with Y.O.U. (Youth
unlimited) trainees for the facilities department.
o I would physically assist or worked with general and detail painting of the exhibits,
bathrooms, and displays throughout the Zoo.
o I have work on many construction projects, such as the tiger and butterfly exhibits,.
o I operated reticulated lifts up to 125 ft. for construction projects in the zoo.
o There was a need to monitor programs and contracts in water, electrical, gas, waste,
paper, conservation and recycling.

o I started a filing and tracking system for purchase orders related to Facility
Department and Horticulture Department.
o Purchase and negotiated materials for maintenance/repair tasks as well as new and old
projects keeping within the established budget.
o Research quotes and purchase of vehicles for ZNE
o Negotiated procurement and receiving for distribution the campus of donated
equipment, furniture, and vehicles
o Research potential expenditures such as wood, mesh, and building supplies for
special projects as needed.
o Establish bids and contracts for service work, conservation projects and products.
o It coordinates and provides supplies for volunteer groups, employment groups and
zoo teens on painting and improvement projects throughout the zoo.
Equipment Operation & Maintenance:
o Operate most construction equipment such as; personnel lift up to 125 feet, 3500 Ford
Dump truck, 24’box truck, mini excavators, etc.
o Established record keeping system for maintenance for all of Zoo New England’s
vehicles
o I developed a preventive maintenance program, which included; inspection protocols,
schedule for PM work, emergency repairs, etc.
o Work with the City of Boston as the Zoo representative on our electric golf cart-
testing program. Report the results to supervisors for implementation strategies.
Personnel & Professional Development:
o 2nd
class Mechanic in Welding and Burning
o Proficient in blue print reading
o Active member of the Safety Committee and provide safety training (from OSHA) at
ZNE staff meetings and for Facilities department.
o Conduct safety inspections, and follow-up work orders to the committee.
o Certified in both adult and child CPR, First Aid and deliberator (AED).
o I developed and lead a yearly session on Minor Repair and Maintenance for, second-
year students, in the Animal Keeper Training Program, at Zoo New England.
o Active Member of AZFA (Aquarium & Zoo Facility Association) of the Site
Selection Committee and a member of the Exhibit Design Resource Committee
o I hosted and organized the AZFA conference in Boston Ma. In 2006.
