Kairos plans to launch an on-demand urban air mobility service using electric VTOL aircraft. It will provide point-to-point air transportation over congested urban routes, addressing issues with current ground transportation which accounts for 75% of US CO2 emissions. Kairos will utilize a centralized flight control center and certified pilots to remotely supervise automated aircraft on pre-approved FAA routes. It has a three step market entry plan focusing initially on airport commuters before expanding to urban routes and ultimately door-to-door service. Kairos is working closely with the FAA and has support to bring the service to market.

A revolution in the air: Ian Dawkins, CEO, OnAir SITA
On-board connectivity continues apace, as the new ‘in-flight must-have’ for both passengers and crew. As it becomes the default expectation for next generation travelers, tablets and mobile devices in the air will impact passenger service levels and customer satisfaction as much as they are on the ground. From an operational point of view, what are the IT needs for the cabin, cockpit and data handling to ground? What innovations can we expect, and how do we see the development of new services for keeping customers happy and loyal?

Smarter at every step - the mega-trends: Cobus McQuirk, South African AirwaysSITA
Tomorrow’s journey will be smarter, and technology and innovation will continue their increasingly critical role in creating it. To get there, our industry must focus on those mega-trends and technologies that will deliver better insights into our passengers and operations, improve ‘life on the go’ and enable better passenger relationships and operational efficiencies. As we look to technologies like predictive analytics, the next wave of personal mobile, the Internet of Things and smarter systems, what roles do our industry leaders see them playing? What value might we expect them to deliver to our airlines and airports? How can we embrace and adapt to these trends, and at what speed?

Passenger drones and flying cars are expected to be commercialized in the near future. The product and technology development of traditional flying cars and passenger drones seem to be rapidly growing worldwide. These next-generation air travel concepts have been under development for various decades, and several prototypes already exist, with the majority skilled in vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL). A VTOL vehicle is an aircraft that can take off, float, and vertically land without the need for runways.
