There are lots of FREE!!! events happening all
over Halifax and Dartmouth for Canada Day.
Check out the schedule at Tara’s desk OR on the
coffee table by the couches/sofas.
4. Tuesday Trivia with Tara
Time: 12:45
Where: In the kitchen with our lovely new tables and chairs!
5. Unlimited Laser Tag!
• Leaving KGIC at 4p.m.
Cost: $25.00
• We can play as many games of laser tag as we want
until 10:00p.m.
• In between games of laser tag, you can play arcade
games. (You have to pay extra to play these games)
• There is a Wendy’s, Burger King, Dairy Queen and Tim
Horton’s nearby if you want to grab dinner before you
play.

7. WATER BALLOON FIGHT!!
Create a team of at least 5 people.
Maximum of 6 teams.
$4.50 / team (5 people = .90 cents / person)
When: Friday, July 6th
Time: After classes on Friday (2:00p.m.)
Deadline: Wednesday, July 4th
Each team will be given TWO-HUNDRED and
FIFTY (250) balloons to fill up with water.
WHERE: The Halifax Commons Park
Wear clothes you don’t mind getting wet in.
Garbage bags can be provided as “rain gear” if
you want.

8. Canoeing at the Saint Mary’s Boat Club
When: Saturday, July 7th
Time: 10:00 IN THE MORNING!!!
Cost: $7.50 (Canoe rental for 1 hour, life jacket,
canoe and paddles)
Minimum 6 students. Please sign up in pairs
(twos) so you have a partner.

Where: Pier 21 by the Farmer’s Market.
DEADLINE July 9th
We need at least 10 people signed up to go on the
tour. MUST be 19 years and older.
Non-drinkers can try the “Cannonball Soda” that is
made at the Garrison Brewery.

14. Tongue Twister Challenge!

Where: In the kitchen / student lounge.
THREE (3) prizes will be awarded to the winning Tongue Twister
Participants.
Prizes: $5.00 Tim Hortons Gift Cards
15. KGIC KARES
Until June 30th, KGIC Halifax students and staff will show how much they care
(kare) by recycling pop and juice cans and bottles. All proceeds ($) will be
given to Feed Nova Scotia.
KGIC Halifax raised $94.56 during the month of June for Feed Nova Scotia.
Feed Nova Scotia is a charity that provides food for children and families who
need help.
If you have some spare change that you want to get rid of, please place your
donations in the jar at Tara’s desk in July.
16. FREE Activity
Let’s go to the Nova Scotia Museum of Art.

18. TALL SHIPS FESTIVAL
Thursday, July 19th – Thursday, July 26th
- Fireworks EVERY NIGHT at “nautical twilight”.
- “Taste of Nova Scotia” will have a tent and cooking stage with
celebrity chefs.
- Families can take a boat ride on Theodore Tugboat.
- Alderney Landing will have a “pirates cove” and a “haunted house”.
- Indoor AND outdoor concerts including kids’ shows and free
concerts at Casino Nova Scotia.
- There will 20 -24 “Tall Ships” in the Halifax Harbour. $5.00 to tour
the ships for the day. Children under 12 are free.
- July 23: PARADE (time TBA)

The festival will include:
- Arts
- Crafts
- Visual and Performing arts of people of African
descent
- People in the festival will be from from Nigeria,
Ghana, Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrean, Gambia,
Zimbabwe, Zambia, Togo, Uganda, Somalia,
ADAM, Caribbean and African Nova Scotian
Community.
28. Zip Line Day Trip
• When: Saturday, July 28th
• We need at least 6 people signed up to go Zip
Lining.
• Cost: $130.00
We will rent a vehicle and drive 2 hours to
Nova’s Scotia’s 1st and biggest zip-line park.
It is a lot of fun!!
