Without context and proper word meaning, verses like, Matthew 7:1, are easily misinterpreted. On the subject of judgment, the Bible teaches the right approach; discerning right from wrong while encouraging forgiveness of wrong.

10. Matthew 7:1-5
"Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what
judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with
the measure you use, it will be measured back
to you. And why do you look at the speck in your
brother's eye, but do not consider the plank in
your own eye? Or how can you say to your
brother, "Let me remove the speck from your
eye'; and look, a plank is in your own eye?
Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own
eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the
speck from your brother's eye.”
11. Vs:1-2
"Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what
judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with
the measure you use, it will be measured back
to you.”
Vs:3-5
“And why do you look at the speck in your
brother's eye, but do not consider the plank in
your own eye? Or how can you say to your
brother, "Let me remove the speck from your
eye'; and look, a plank is in your own eye?
Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own
eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the
speck from your brother's eye.”
12. Matthew 7:1-2
"Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment
you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you
use, it will be measured back to you.”
Vs.3-5
“And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye,
but do not consider the plank in your own eye? Or how
can you say to your brother, "Let me remove the speck
from your eye'; and look, a plank is in your own eye?
Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye,
and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from
your brother's eye.”
13. Vs. 1-2
Do NOT judge
Vs. 3-5
Don’t be hypocrites when you DO judge
14. Luke 6:27-38
27 "But I say to you who hear: Love your
enemies, do good to those who hate you,
28 bless those who curse you, and pray for
those who spitefully use you.
29 To him who strikes you on the one cheek,
offer the other also. And from him who takes
away your cloak, do not withhold your tunic
either.
30 Give to everyone who asks of you. And
from him who takes away your goods do not
ask them back.
15. Luke 6:27-38
31 And just as you want men to do to you,
you also do to them likewise.
32 But if you love those who love you, what
credit is that to you? For even sinners love
those who love them.
33 And if you do good to those who do good
to you, what credit is that to you? For even
sinners do the same.
34 And if you lend to those from whom you
hope to receive back, what credit is that to
you? For even sinners lend to sinners to
receive as much back.
16. Luke 6:27-38
35 But love your enemies, do good, and lend,
hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be
great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He
is kind to the unthankful and evil.
36 Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is
merciful.
37 Judge not, and you shall not be judged.
Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned.
Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
38 Give, and it will be given to you: good measure,
pressed down, shaken together, and running over
will be put into your bosom. For with the same
measure that you use, it will be measured back to
you."
17. Luke 6:37-38
"Judge not, and you shall not be judged... For with the same measure that you
use, it will be measured back to you."
Vs.39
And He spoke a parable to them:
Vs.39-41
"Can the blind lead the blind? Will they not both fall into the ditch? A disciple is
not above his teacher, but everyone who is perfectly trained will be like his
teacher. And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not
perceive the plank in your own eye?

18. Mathew 23:23-24
"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay
tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have neglected the
weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith.
These you ought to have done, without leaving the others
undone. Blind guides, who strain out a gnat and swallow a
camel!”
19. Mathew 23:23-24
"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay
tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have neglected the
weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith.
These you ought to have done, without leaving the others
undone. Blind guides, who strain out a gnat and swallow a
camel!”
25. The “Good” Way
Matthew 1:18-19
Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His
mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came
together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. Then
Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to
make her a public example, was minded to put her away
secretly.
26. The “Bad” Way
Matthew 18:21-22
Then Peter came to Him and said, "Lord, how often shall my
brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven
times?" Jesus said to him, "I do not say to you, up to seven
times, but up to seventy times seven.
27. Matthew 18:23-27
Mat 18:23 Therefore the kingdom of heaven is like a certain
king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants.
Mat 18:24 And when he had begun to settle accounts, one
was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents.
Mat 18:25 But as he was not able to pay, his master
commanded that he be sold, with his wife and children and
all that he had, and that payment be made.
Mat 18:26 The servant therefore fell down before him,
saying, "Master, have patience with me, and I will pay you
all.'
Mat 18:27 Then the master of that servant was moved with
compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt.
28. Matthew 18:28-31
Mat 18:28 "But that servant went out and found one of his
fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii; and he laid
hands on him and took him by the throat, saying, "Pay me
what you owe!'
Mat 18:29 So his fellow servant fell down at his feet and
begged him, saying, "Have patience with me, and I will pay
you all.'
Mat 18:30 And he would not, but went and threw him into
prison till he should pay the debt.
Mat 18:31 So when his fellow servants saw what had been
done, they were very grieved, and came and told their
master all that had been done.
29. Matthew 18:32-35
Mat 18:32 Then his master, after he had called him, said to
him, "You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt
because you begged me.
Mat 18:33 Should you not also have had compassion on
your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you?'
Mat 18:34 And his master was angry, and delivered him to
the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him.
Mat 18:35 "So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each
of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his
trespasses."
31. Matthew 18:15-17
Moreover if your brother sins against you, go
and tell him his fault between you and him
alone. If he hears you, you have gained your
brother. But if he will not hear, take with you
one or two more, that "by the mouth of two or
three witnesses every word may be
established.‘ And if he refuses to hear them,
tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to
hear the church, let him be to you like a
heathen and a tax collector.

33. “I don’t judge you; I don’t
condemn you. But go and sin
no more.”
34. Romans 2:1
" Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are
who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn
yourself; for you who judge practice the same things.”
35. Romans 1:28-32
“And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God
gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not
fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality,
wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder,
strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, backbiters,
haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things,
disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving,
unforgiving, unmerciful; who, knowing the righteous judgment of
God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not
only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.”
Romans 2:1
" Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who
judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for
you who judge practice the same things.”
36. Romans 2:17-24
“Indeed you are called a Jew, and rest on the law, and
make your boast in God, and know His will, and approve
the things that are excellent, being instructed out of the
law, and are confident that you yourself are a guide to the
blind, a light to those who are in darkness, an instructor of
the foolish, a teacher of babes, having the form of
knowledge and truth in the law. You, therefore, who teach
another, do you not teach yourself? You who preach that
a man should not steal, do you steal? You who say, "Do
not commit adultery," do you commit adultery? You who
abhor idols, do you rob temples? You who make your
boast in the law, do you dishonor God through breaking
the law? For ‘the name of God is blasphemed among the
Gentiles because of you,’ as it is written.”
37. Romans 14:4-6
“Who are you to judge another's servant? To his own
master he stands or falls. Indeed, he will be made to
stand, for God is able to make him stand. One person
esteems one day above another; another esteems every
day alike. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind. He
who observes the day, observes it to the Lord; and he
who does not observe the day, to the Lord he does not
observe it. He who eats, eats to the Lord, for he gives God
thanks; and he who does not eat, to the Lord he does not
eat, and gives God thanks.”
38. Romans 14:1-2
“Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to
doubtful disputations. For one believeth that he may eat all
things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.”
“doubtful disputations”
39. “doubtful disputations”
(YLT) … And him who is weak in the faith receive ye--
not to determinations of reasonings .
(NIV) … Accept him whose faith is weak, without
passing judgment on disputable matters.
(BBE) … and do not put him in doubt by your reasonings.
(LTHB) … not to judgments of your thoughts.
(WEB) … but not for disputes over opinions .
40. Romans 14:1-2
“Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to
doubtful disputations. For one believeth that he may eat all
things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.”

41. Romans 14:14
“He who observes the day, observes it to the Lord…
and he who does not eat, to the Lord he does not eat…”
[days of fasting]
42. Romans 14:14-17
I know and am convinced by the Lord Jesus that there is nothing
unclean of itself; but to him who considers anything to be unclean, to
him it is unclean. Yet if your brother is grieved because of your food,
you are no longer walking in love. Do not destroy with your food the
one for whom Christ died. Therefore do not let your good be spoken
of as evil; for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but
righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
Romans 14:20-21
Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All things
indeed are pure, but it is evil for the man who eats with offense. It is
good neither to eat meat nor drink wine nor do anything by which
your brother stumbles or is offended or is made weak.
43. Romans 14:14
“…there is nothing unclean of itself; but to him who
considers anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean…
Vs.17
for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking…
Vs.21
It is good neither to eat meat nor drink wine nor do
anything by which your brother stumbles

44. 1 Corinthians 8:4-6
Therefore concerning the eating of things offered to idols, we know that an
idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God but one. For even if
there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as there are many
gods and many lords), yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all
things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all
things, and through whom we live.
1 Corinthians 8:7-10
1Co 8:7 However, there is not in everyone that knowledge; for some, with
consciousness of the idol, until now eat it as a thing offered to an idol; and
their conscience, being weak, is defiled.
1Co 8:8 But food does not commend us to God; for neither if we eat are we
the better, nor if we do not eat are we the worse.
1Co 8:9 But beware lest somehow this liberty of yours become a stumbling
block to those who are weak.
1Co 8:10 For if anyone sees you who have knowledge eating in an idol's
temple, will not the conscience of him who is weak be emboldened to eat
those things offered to idols?
45. 1) Judge ourselves (1 Cor.11:31)
2) Don’t be involved in the sins we teach against
3) Be motivated to help our neighbor rather than
condemn
4) Be biblically grounded in the subject; avoid
“doubtful disputations”.
5) The Church’s responsibility is to teach God’s
Way of Life.
46. “I don’t judge you; I don’t
condemn you. But go and sin
no more.”
