ASSISTANT FINANCE ANALYST
LEVEL 4

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in the areas of financial analysis, statutory reporting, management reporting, project accounting, infrastructure asset
accounting, budget management and capital investment planning.
KEY DELIVERIES
• Assist with Financial Analysis, Reporting and Accounting Operations
– analysis of budget, actual, forecast variance, general ledger and project accounting transactional data, development of
financial models and forecast and preparation of management reports
– accounting for infrastructure assets and preparation of monthly and annual statutory financial reports
– development and implementation of financial management policies and procedures
– diligence assessments of contractors
– administration of financial systems and accounting operations within Finance Services Branch
– management of finance related projects
• Assist with Budget Management, Financial Planning and Investment Planning
– financial planning, preparation and analysis of capital investment business cases
– management of budgets relating to the Commonwealth, State and Local Roads’ programs
– preparation of the State Budget Papers and budget reporting to ‘peak bodies’
• Business Performance
– assist in the preparation of corporate business and key performance indicators
• Business Management
– assist in the preparation of business plans and budgets for the Finance and Commercial Services Directorate
• Stakeholder Relationships
– liaise with key internal and external stakeholders regarding accounting and management reporting related matters
OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH (OSH)
Responsible for active participation and performance to OSH standards as detailed by Main Roads OSH Management System,
refer to - OSH Website, Procedures “Responsibility and Accountability”.
LOCATION
Main Roads is a regionalised organisation with key delivery centres operating from the Kimberleyto the Great Southern regions,
including the metropolitan area. The incumbent of this position may be required to undertake a role in a region for a period of
time.
DYNAMIC RESOURCING
The incumbent of the position may be required to perform any other role within the incumbent’s level of skill, competence and
responsibility as directed by the Managing Director of Main Roads to meet the organisation’s objectives and the incumbent’s
development.

• A Diploma in Accounting.
• Sound skill, knowledge and experience in:
– application of accounting standards and financial management policies and procedures
– application of general ledger, budgeting, project accounting and other financial management systems
– analysis and problem solving
– provision of a customer focused service
– building and enhancing stakeholder relationships
– work organisation with the ability to meet work schedules and deadlines
• Knowledge of:
– policies and practices on Occupational Safety and Health, and on EEO, diversity and equity.
