Joy Hester was an artist who created ink drawings quickly on paper to convey emotion and intensity with just a few lines. She drew from her own tumultuous life experiences, including a battle with cancer that was so dire at one point she gave her baby son up for adoption, though she lived another 13 years. Her art was dismissed during her lifetime but demonstrated incredible talent in using ink and speed to express big feelings.
