Adam & Eve were evicted from the Paradise for eating from the tree of knowledge, yet The Bible & Quran value education - how is that reconciled?
The Quran quotes from the Bible and derives much of its philosophy from the Bible, having said that, the educational aspect in biblical context is not weighed against the eating of the fruit in the Garden. That act was about choice and disobedience on the part of Adam. It is one of those acts that set up the reconciliation of mankind through Christ.

It notes that Jesus washed his disciples' feet, commanding them to serve one another sacrificially. He told them to forgive each other generously. 130714 eng shift series (part 1) by ps. timothy loheaglepointcf
The document discusses making a "shift" to have a comprehensive relationship with the Holy Spirit. It describes how Jesus initiated a philosophical, power, and personal shift by promising the Holy Spirit as an advocate and helper. There are two kinds of people: those who made the shift but slipped out of it, and those who never made the shift. The shift is made by drinking the water and Spirit that Jesus provides, allowing rivers of living water to flow within.
Jesus displays his authority over sin and suffering. In the Gospel passage, a paralyzed man is brought to Jesus, who first declares that the man's sins are forgiven, showing his authority over sin. Jesus then heals the man of his paralysis, demonstrating authority over sickness as well. Some scribes question Jesus' ability to forgive sins, but he proves his authority by commanding the paralyzed man to rise and walk, healing him instantly to the amazement of all.
This document summarizes the four quadrants of a healthy Christian life: 1) personal relationship with God through daily Bible reading, scripture memory, and prayer; 2) corporate worship through church attendance, singing, and tithing; 3) small group community and accountability; and 4) finding an area of service within or outside the church such as teaching, outreach, or various ministries. It provides examples of how Christians like King David, Nehemiah, and Chris Tomlin have used their talents and positions to serve God. The document also addresses common excuses for not serving and encourages readers to avail themselves, pray for guidance, and respond affirmatively when opportunities arise.

The modern organization began in the late 19th century with a group of Bible students in Pennsylvania. They believe God's name is Jehovah and that he will transform the earth into a paradise without crime, sickness, death or poverty. They preach their faith by visiting homes and publishing literature in many languages worldwide.

This document summarizes a sermon based on the biblical story of Jesus appearing to two disciples on the road to Emmaus after his resurrection. The three key points are:
1) Jesus meets the two disciples in their despair and opens their eyes to recognizing him when he breaks bread with them.
2) It is through our "burning hearts" rather than just our minds that we come to recognize Jesus, as the disciples' hearts burned within them as Jesus taught them from scripture.
3) The disciples then hurried to Jerusalem to tell the other disciples that Jesus is alive, as evidenced by his appearance to them on the road.
Today's Message is based on The Road to Emmaus.

As chapter 23 ends we will explore the final woe of judgment pronounced by Jesus upon Israel’s religious leaders. Hypocritically the Scribes and Pharisees believed that if the Old Testament prophets had spoken in their time, they would have gladly received their words. Jesus concludes his woe by weeping over the city of Jerusalem because their rejection of him has ensured their coming judgment. Not all hope is lost the Savior promises there will be a day when the nation returns to their Messiah and declares, blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.

A lecture on the style and message of the Gospel of John. In this lecture we compare John's style to those of the synoptic to get an Eagle's eye portrayal of Jesus life and message.
This passage describes Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead in front of many spectators. Jesus calls Lazarus out of the tomb and commands those watching to remove Lazarus's grave clothes and burial wrappings, representing how believers are called to new life by God but others must help remove obstacles from their faith. The speaker notes Jesus used this event to teach that while only God brings spiritual rebirth, the church has a responsibility to help new believers grow in their faith and walk with Christ.
This document provides vocabulary definitions and information about Jesus to help understand that he is both fully God and fully human. It discusses Jesus' humanity by mentioning he is from Nazareth and had a family, went to school, and had friends. It discusses his divinity by mentioning he performed miracles. The document then provides sources from the Bible like Jesus calming a storm and healing people to show both his humanity and divinity. Students are asked to reflect on how these sources show Jesus was truly man and truly God.
Jesus taught that entering God's kingdom requires desiring it above all else and being willing to endure great difficulties, such as giving up all of one's possessions and loved ones. Those who make these sacrifices will receive eternal life as the ultimate reward.
This document summarizes a passage from the book of John describing Jesus healing a man on the Sabbath. It describes how Jesus heals a man who had been ill for 38 years at the pool of Bethesda. Religious leaders criticize Jesus for violating the Sabbath by commanding the man to carry his mat. The document contrasts the "letter of the law" approach of the religious leaders with Jesus' embodiment of the "spirit of the law" in showing compassion.
At a wedding in Cana, Galilee, Jesus performs his first miracle when called upon by his mother Mary. The wedding hosts had run out of wine for their guests. Jesus instructs the servants to fill large stone jars with water, and then turns the water into wine. The master of ceremonies is surprised by the high quality of the wine, not realizing it was Jesus who provided it. This miracle revealed Jesus' divine glory and his disciples put their faith in him.
The document references John 1:16 which discusses how Jesus Christ, who preceded Moses, provided grace upon grace through his fullness. It notes how Jesus provides endless giving grace according to this verse. It also briefly mentions how the early church practiced generosity, how Methodists sing about generosity, and how emperors railed against generosity.
This document lists several items that will be part of a family carol service for 2019, including astronomical bodies like the universe, moon, sun and Proxima Centauri as well as religious symbols like the cross and empty tomb and a children's character Postman Pat.
The document discusses lessons that can be learned from Mary, Joseph, the shepherds, and the Magi in the Christmas story. It says that Mary teaches that God values the young and women, and can handle questions. Joseph teaches that God values ordinary people and knows faith is difficult. The shepherds teach not to let theology blind us to God's surprises and it takes faith to recognize the king. The Magi teach that the Kingdom is for everyone everywhere and God is greater than expected. The Kingdom of Heaven is described as surprising, nonsensical, and where normal expectations are turned upside down.
Jesus teaches that his return will be like an unexpected event that everyone should be prepared for at all times through faithful service, witnessing to others, and living holy lives. Though the timing is unknown, Christians must persevere and be ready for Christ's glorious and visible return while continuing their witness and service to others.
Nigel White joined us to finish our series "Paul: The Road to Rome" as he arrives at his destination. He spoke from Acts 28:11-31, "Good News in the heart of the Empire"
The document discusses maintaining faith in God's control during difficult times by using wisdom, taking practical steps to care for oneself, focusing on positives, and not being surprised by worsening situations, as one can find peace through keeping faith that Christ is present even in storms.
We took a break from our series on Abraham to celebrate Ability Sunday (a week early!) - it's all about inclusion, especially for those in our community with disabilities. Doug Preston spoke from Psalm 139
God made a covenant with Abram, promising that his descendants would be as numerous as the stars in the sky and the grains of sand. Although Abram had no children at the time, he believed God's promise. God credited Abram's faith as righteousness, expressing his grace rather than Abram's worthiness. The covenant established Abram's right standing with God through faith, foreshadowing the new covenant established by Jesus's blood which invites people to enter into relationship with God by trusting in his promises.
Roberto Troiolo from the Gideons joined us to share about their work and from Acts 19:23-41, "How to cause a riot", continuing our series on "Paul: a man with a mission".

It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375
