This document describes several traditional Polish desserts: Faworki are crisp, fried cookies shaped like bows that are eaten during carnival season. Galaretka is a gelatin dessert that must be served cold. Makowiec is a poppy seed cake that is a traditional Christmas Eve dish. Pączki are spherical yeast doughnuts often filled with jam or cheese. Sernik is a sweet cake with a creamy white cheese filling. Szarlotka is a tart made of cake and fruit, usually apples.
