Gorodki is a traditional Russian sport that has been played for over two centuries. The goal of the game is to knock wooden sticks or "figures" out of a square area called a "city" using bats from certain distances. Players take turns throwing bats to knock over serial figures made of five small cylindrical sticks, with the goal of removing all 15 figures using as few throws as possible. The team or individual who completes all figures in the fewest attempts after three rounds is the winner. Rules dictate the use of wooden bats and specific stick figures laid out in the city area.
