The ACT government is renewing over 1,200 public housing dwellings by 2019 as many were built in the 1950s-60s and are expensive to maintain and no longer suitable. The replacement homes will include houses, townhouses and apartments spread more evenly across Canberra with improved designs to meet current and future tenant needs. ACT climate change adaptation strategy presentation to WVCC
The ACT Climate Change Adaptation Strategy aims to prepare the ACT region for the inevitable impacts of climate change. It acknowledges that past approaches are no longer sufficient and that reducing vulnerability and increasing resilience are needed. The strategy was developed through sectoral and whole-of-government approaches. It has four key outcomes: developing territory-wide resilience; making Canberra sustainable for all seasons; promoting adaptation innovation; and ensuring integrated action. Public consultation on the draft strategy is currently open to gather input and feedback.
WVCC budget Breakdown
The ACT 2015 budget allocates approximately $5.1 billion for government services. Property rates will increase by an average of 9% across Canberra, with increases ranging from 7.5-9.7% in Woden suburbs. Revenue will increase through higher fees for parking, ambulances, fire services, vehicle registration, and road rescue. Infrastructure investments for Woden include upgrading the Melrose High sports precinct, Phillip Oval, and the first stage of redeveloping the Woden Bus Interchange. However, projects like a new community centre and full redevelopment of the Woden Bus Station were not funded in this budget.
EPD Curtin master plan consultation
This consultation phase will conclude on Wednesday, 10 June 2015. The consultation phase discussed in the document will end on the specified date of June 10th, 2015.

New report offers sobering view of the energy transition
Every year the Statistical Review of World Energy offers a behemoth of data on the state of the global energy market. This year’s findings highlight the world’s insatiable demand for energy and the need to speed up the pace of decarbonisation.
Here are our four main takeaways from this year’s report:
Fossil fuel consumption — and emissions — are at record highs
Countries burnt record amounts of oil and coal last year, sending global fossil fuel consumption and emissions to all-time highs, the Energy Institute reported. Oil demand grew 2.6 per cent, surpassing 100mn barrels per day for the first time.
Meanwhile, the share of fossil fuels in the energy mix declined slightly by half a percentage point, but still made up more than 81 per cent of consumption.

Today’s Energy Source dives into the latest Statistical Review of World Energy, the industry’s annual stocktake of global energy consumption. The report was published for more than 70 years by BP before it was passed over to the Energy Institute last year. The oil major remains a contributor.

New report offers sobering view of the energy transition
Every year the Statistical Review of World Energy offers a behemoth of data on the state of the global energy market. This year’s findings highlight the world’s insatiable demand for energy and the need to speed up the pace of decarbonisation.
Here are our four main takeaways from this year’s report:
Fossil fuel consumption — and emissions — are at record highs
Countries burnt record amounts of oil and coal last year, sending global fossil fuel consumption and emissions to all-time highs, the Energy Institute reported. Oil demand grew 2.6 per cent, surpassing 100mn barrels per day for the first time.
Meanwhile, the share of fossil fuels in the energy mix declined slightly by half a percentage point, but still made up more than 81 per cent of consumption.
