Director-‘A music video director is a director of music videos. The director conceives of a
video's artistic and dramatic aspects while instructing the musical act, technical
crew, actors, models, and dancers. This may or may not be in collaboration with the
musical act.’ - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_video_director
A music director comes up with the ideas for the music
video, they also organise what people do and what happens
throughout the video. They guide everyone and tell each
crew member, dancer, model and actor, what to do in each
frame.
Camera Person- ‘A camera operator or cameraman/camerawoman is a
professional operator of a film or video camera. In filmmaking, the leading camera
operator is usually called a cinematographer, while a camera operator in a video
production may be known as a television camera operator, video camera operator,
or videographer, depending on the context and technology involved, usually operating
a professional video camera.
The camera operator is responsible for physically operating the camera and
maintaining composition and camera angles throughout a given scene or shot. In
narrative filmmaking, the camera operator will collaborate with the director, director of
photography, actors and crew to make technical and creative decisions. In this setting, a
camera operator is part of a film crew consisting of the director of photography and one
or more camera assistants.’ - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camera_operator
A camera operator can operate film or video cameras
professionally. They are responsible for physically
operating the camera, moving it into the correct angles
throughout a scene or shot. Camera operators also
collaborate with the director to share ideas to make the
right decisions.
Sound Recording– ‘A Boom operator is an assistant of the production sound mixer. The
principal responsibility of the boom operator is microphone placement, usually using a
boom pole (or "fishpole") with a microphone attached to the end, his aim being to hold
the microphone as close to the actors or action as possible without allowing the
microphone or boom to enter the camera's frame. Often in television studios, the boom
operator will use a "fisher boom", which is a more intricate and specialized piece of

equipment on which the operator stands, allowing precise control of the microphone at a
greater distance from the actors.’ - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boom_operator_(media)
A boom operator basically operates the microphones;
they usually hold a long pole (boom pole / fish pole)
which has a microphone attached. This is held close to
the actors or action as close as possible without
getting the boom inside the camera frame.
Lighting – ‘Electrical Lighting Technicians (ELT) or simply Lighting Tech, are involved with
rigging stage and location sets and controlling artificial, electric lights for art and
entertainment venues (theatre or live music venues) or in video, television,
or filmproduction.Lighting technicians are responsible for the movement and set up of
various pieces of lighting equipment for separation of light and shadow or contrast, depth
of field and/or visual effects. Lighting Technicians may also lay electrical cables, wire
fixtures, install colour effects or image patterns, focus the lights, and assist in creating
effects or programming sequences.’ - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lighting_technician
A lighting technician has to set up the stage with the
wires for all the lights, setting them up to create
effects such as shadows. They follow the camera
operator round to ensure the actor / scene has the
correct lighting it needs.
