Job Roles
Director –‘Producers and directors, including music video directors, are among the
executives in this industry. Directors are in charge of making virtually all creative decisions,
though producers hold a higher position than they do. Directors are responsible for
selecting the music video's cast, giving direction and overseeing rehearsals to the music
artists, cast members and crew. They also select music-based scripts and treatments and
coordinate with set designers, costume designers and make-up
artists’.http://diplomaguide.com/articles/Music_Video_Director_Career_Info.html
A Director is someone who is in charge of nearly everything to
do with the music video. They say who is in the video and what
they are doing and they assign scripts as well.
Camera Person –‘Camera Operators perform a vital role within the camera department on
feature films. They support the Director of Photography (DoP or DP), and the Director, by
accurately carrying out their instructions regarding shot composition and development.
The seamless ease with which the camera moves is key to the narrative flow of feature
films, and is the Camera Operators' responsibility. They are usually the first people to use
the camera's eye piece to assess how all the elements of performance, art direction,
lighting, composition and camera movement come together to create the cinematic
experience’.http://www.creativeskillset.org/film/jobs/camera/article_4688_1.asp
A camera person shoots all the video and different camera
angles making sure the equipment doesn’t appear on the shot
and that there are no mistakes. They mainly work with the
director so that the best shot can be filmed for the video’s
purpose.

Sound Recording –“Sound recording and reproduction is an electrical or mechanical
inscription and re-creation of sound waves, such as spoken voice, singing, instrumental
music, or sound effects. The two main classes of sound recording technology are analog
recording and digital recording.Acoustic analog recording is achieved by a small
microphone diaphragm that can detect changes in atmospheric pressure (acoustic sound
waves) and record them as a graphic representation of the sound waves on a medium such
as a phonograph (in which a stylus senses grooves on a
record).”http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sound_recording_and_reproduction
A sound recorder takes part of all the different sounds in the
video e.g. someone speaking/singing, all the instruments and
background noise. They can do this by getting someone to
speak into a microphone first.
Lighting - Electrical Lighting Technicians (ELT) or simply Lighting Tech., are involved with
rigging stage and location sets and controlling artificial, electric lights for art and
entertainment venues (theater or live music venues) or in video, television, or film
production. In a theater production, lighting technicians work under the lighting designer
and master electrician. In video, television, and film productions, lighting technicians work
under the direction of the Gaffer or Chief Lighting Technician whom takes their direction
from the cinematographer. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lighting_technician
Lighting is all about making something look
effective, so putting the lights in a certain
place to add shadow or more expression.
