The Social Health Protection Association in Cambodia is looking for a full-time Field Supervisor for a 6-month research project conducted together with a German university on health insurance and household transfers. The Field Supervisor will manage two survey teams conducting household surveys and ensure high quality data collection. Requirements include a Bachelor's degree, 2 years of fieldwork experience preferably conducting surveys in Cambodia, fluency in Khmer and English, and leadership, teamwork and computer skills. Full time Field Supervisor (Short term)
The Social Health Protection Association (SHPA), Cambodia, together with the Leibniz University
Hannover, Germany, are looking for a field work supervisor for a joint research project on health
insurance and private transfers between households. The project is funded by the German
Science Foundation and is coordinated by Dr. Susan Steiner, Assistant Professor for
Development Economics at Leibniz University Hannover.
The field work will be conducted in two teams, with one team conducting a household survey.
The field work supervisor will be mainly in charge of this household survey.
The field work supervisor will be hired for a period of six months (approx. May‐October 2015)
for the preparation, implementation and follow‐up of the field work. The field work supervisor
will be affiliated with SHPA on a full‐time basis (40 hours per week) during this period.
Duties include (but are not limited to):
- communicate with local authorities,
- organize the field work,
- manage the logistics of the field work,
- support project leaders in recruiting research assistants,
- supervise the survey team during field work, and
- ensure the quality of all fieldwork notes and questionnaires.
Desired minimum qualifications for this assignment are:
- at least Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in sociology, economics, marketing or related
fields,
- minimum of two year experience in conducting field work, ideally in conducting
household surveys, in Cambodia,
- experience in working in teams and in communicating with local authorities,
- fluency in Khmer and English (both written and verbal),
- proven leadership capabilities,
- teamwork skills,
- sufficient computer skills, and
- flexibility to travel and live in basic conditions during the field work period.
