STRUCTURE-BUILDING
➤ The school will be single level
in order to accommodate to
students with disabilities and
or require transportation by
wheelchair. The school will
also include ramps in order to
make the school wheelchair
accessible throughout the
campus.
STRUCTURE-BATHROOMS
➤ In bathrooms, there will be sinks that
will have heights specifically are for
those that are standing and there will
be sinks that have heights specifically
for those that are sitting. There will be
no faucets and motion detected
sensors that will turn water on with
hand motion present. The soap
dispensers will also have motion
detected sensors that will dispense
soap with hand motion present. The
soap dispensers will also be adjusted
to heights specially for those that are
standing and those that are sitting as
well. There will be bathroom stalls
that have a wide range of space and
bars will be installed in each
bathroom stall.
STRUCTURE-CLASSROOMS
➤ In classrooms, there will be
wide range open space
between desks in order to
make it accessible for those
that are in wheelchairs to
move between desks. The
desks can also be adjusted by
height in order to
accommodate to those in
wheelchairs or those who
prefer to sit on a bouncy ball.
CLASSES
➤ The school will consist of grade levels
1st-6th grade. For each grade, students
will have rotating periods. Each period
consist of 45 minutes in the classroom.
There will be 6 periods total during the
day. Students will be grouped according
to grade level. Students being grouped
by grade level is beneficial since they can
interact in age appropriate activities
together. Another benefit to grouping
students by grade level is that each
student has their own different ability
level and how they learn. By diversifying
the ability levels in classroom settings,
students can become proficient on areas
that are lacking through interacting with
peers that are proficient in that same
specific area.
PERSONNEL
➤ The school will be staffed with a
ratio of 1 teacher per 10
students. By having a smaller
ratio of kids to teacher, the
teacher can have more
personable relationship with the
students. Having a personable
relationship between staff and
students allows for the classroom
setting to become more
harmonious environment.
Students will also be more
cooperative in classroom settings
if the teacher is more accessible
and has built rapport with each
student.
INSTRUCTION
➤ The teacher will utilize behavior management
techniques in order to increase student
responding in the classroom setting. The
teacher will have token economies for each
student and provide reinforcement contingent
upon receiving the set criteria of responses per
token board. Token boards will increase
classroom attentiveness and engagement to
the lesson plan.
➤ The teacher will utilize different means of
technology in order to allow all students to
access general curriculum such as tablets,
headphones, videos, in-vivo presentations,
role-play, etc.
➤ The teacher will adapt to different learning
styles of the students in the classroom setting
and incorporate each learning style into the
lesson plan.
GENERAL CURRICULUM
➤ The general curriculum will include lesson plans and
objectives that the teacher will outline before each start
of the lesson to the class. Prior to each lesson, the
teacher will give out an electronic survey that students
can fill out on their tablets. The survey has an option
where students can opt to fill out orally (speaking and
the tablet records their answers) or electronically. For
the students that chose to fill out the survey orally, the
teacher will have a separate room for the students to use
as to not disturb other students that are filling out the
survey electronically. The electronic survey will consist
of questions that will require the students to record
what their strengths and weaknesses are, answer
questions that best fit what their learning style is, and
the goals that they wish to achieve in the classroom.
After each lesson plan, the teacher will give out a self
monitor checklist in order for students to see where
their progress lies and what they can do to improve on
their individual progress.
➤ The purpose of this electronic survey is for the teacher
to get a gauge on the students ability in the classroom,
set accommodations that would be needed to assist
students, and create lesson plans that can tailor to all
learning styles of the students in the classroom.
GENERAL CURRICULUM
➤ Each classroom will also
contain a segment in which the
teacher will be required to take
all of the students to a sensory
room for 15 minutes in order
to decompress between
transitions to different class
periods. There will be six
sensory rooms total, one per
grade level. The purpose of
sensory rooms is not only to
decompress between
transitions but also for
students to regain focus and
increase attentiveness in class.
TECHNOLOGY
➤ Each classroom will have the following technology accessible to
students and teachers alike:
➤ WiFi access
➤ Tablets that students can rent and take home with them. On the
tablet, the teacher will have a school web page that updates the
students on the assignments, objectives, homework, activities, or any
announcements. The school web page will also have a messenger
system that way students and or parents can message the teacher for
any questions or concerns they have in regards to the classroom
lesson plan, absences, etc.
➤ Prior to handing out the tablets, the teacher will have a written
contract that has the students and parent’s of the students signature
on them that it will be used responsibly and if damaged, broken, or
lost, the parents will have to pay. If there is a special circumstance
involved in why the tablet was damaged, broken, or lost the teacher
will have a meeting with the parents and the issue will be handled on
a case to case basis accordingly.
➤ There will also be tablets that will remain in the classroom at all
times that will include a keyboard. The Tablets will have an app on
there that already has pre downloaded textbooks required for the
classroom that each student can view during class. The tablets will
also come with headphones that is optional for students to use. The
purpose of this is to assist not only students who have visual or
hearing impairments, but for those who learn easier that way as well.
➤ Depending on classroom size, there will be a set amount of Blitab
which is a tablet that displays braille on it. The tablet is incorporated
with pins which movements are up and down. The purpose of the
Blitab is to provide assistance to students that are visually impaired
as well as those that are blind.
ASSESSMENT
➤ Prior to assessment, the teacher will have the
students make a choice on how they will want
to take the assessment. The teacher will
provide the following options for the student:
presentation, electronically, or orally. The
assessment types will be taken in separate
rooms in order to decrease distraction.
➤ The assessment can be taken through an oral
presentation where the student creates a
presentation that demonstrates their
knowledge of the lesson they have learned.
➤ The assessment can also be taken electronically
where the student can answer questions on
their tablet. If the student is visually impaired,
the student can use the Blitab as well and
answer questions accordingly.
➤ The assessment can be taken orally where the
teacher sits down with the student and
interviews them on content relating to the
lesson plan.
