2. Structure
The school will be one level. The outside will be an inviting space that allows students to sit
outside and socialize or the teachers can take some of their students outside to interact with
nature.
3. The outside of the building will also have entrances
designed to allow a diverse group access to the building.
For example: students who use wheel chairs will just roll over
an icon of the school mascot and the doors will automatically
0pen for them. Students who are visually impaired can scan
their hand over a key pad and the door will automatically open.
4. Inside of the building:
Students and staff will have different options to enter the main building.
If one is visually impaired their will be a gradient path that they can follow
from the various entrances to the main building. The building will be open
concept. The classrooms will have signs on the outside with the numbers
written on them and also the numbers will be in braille for the visually
impaired.
The classroom hallways will be color coded based on the grade levels.
There will be two grade levels seventh and eighth grade.
5. Classes
The classes will be very diverse and inclusive. Student’s with special needs will be placed
in the least restrictive environment with their peers. Classes will be filled based on
Grade levels.
6. School Staff
The school staff will reflect the student population. The school staff will include a
Diverse group of adults: Teachers, paraprofessionals, volunteers, psychologist, and counselors,
among others. The staff will also include adults with special needs.
8. Instruction
Instruction will be provided by using Google
slides, Schoology platform and lectures.
Students will also have the option to download
the lesson or receive a packet. The board will
include an agenda so that students can pace
themselves. This allows students to see what
the requirements are for the day and track their
progress.
9. Assessment
Assessments are evaluated daily. Assessments can be informal: orally, visually, using
technology and pen and paper. Assessments can be used by daily evaluation check ins to verify
student’s progress by talking to students, checking their work and giving them feedback to
enable them to adjust their learning. Student’s will also be given formal assessments
periodically this is done every three weeks. The assessments are given using accommodations
that the student normally accesses when learning daily.
10. General Curriculum
The curriculum will be based on the TEKS with accommodations and modifications to meet the individual student’s
needs. There will be a word wall that will be used to review difficult vocabulary before the lesson is taught. Student’s
Who need visual aides will have access to a laptop so that they can have an interactive experience or visual aides.
Student’s will also be able to have headsets to listen to a prerecorded lesson. This will allow them to start and stop
the lesson which enables them to take notes.
12. Technology
Some students need something to do with their hands we normally give them a fidget this addresses the sensory stimulation
they get from their hands.
The wobble chairs are for students who need motion in the classroom.
The yoga balls are also used for students who need motion in the classroom.
The head set can be used to block out noise for students who are over stimulated by sound. The head set can also be used with
a laptop to listen to a lesson online.
The laptop is used to teach interactive lessons, watch videos that introduce the topic, writing papers using speech to text and
listening to the audio version of a text piece.
