New – Spirit of America to perform in Hershey, Pa. Sept. 26-27 
The final performances of this year’s Spirit of America will be performed in 
Hershey, Pa. Sept. 26 and 27 and the JBM-HH community is welcome to attend. 
Spirit of America is one of the Army’s largest community outreach programs and 
is designed to increase awareness of the Army’s rich heritage and showcase its premier 
ceremonial units. The history of the nation will come to life through historical 
reenactments, musical entertainment and precision military drill. 
The performances are free and open to the public, but tickets are required. For

New – Fall family festival Sept. 27 
The New Parent Support program on the Henderson Hall portion of the joint 
base is hosting its annual Fall Family Festival Sept. 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Cpl. 
Terry L. Smith Gym. The event is free and open to DoD ID cardholders. Food and 
beverages are available to purchase; only cash will be accepted. For more information,

New – Ethics training available on Fort McNair and Fort Myer
All employees who are required to file a financial disclosure must also receive 
annual ethics training. Training for members of the Military District of Washington, 
Joint Forces-National Capital Region, and Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall who have 
not received this training must satisfy their training requirement by attending one of the 
schedule sessions:

New – Retiree Appreciation Day schedule for Oct. 10 
The annual Retiree Appreciation Day is scheduled for Oct. 10 at Spates 
Community Club on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base. Registration begins at 8 
a.m. 
The bus for the wreath-laying at the Tomb of the Unknowns leaves Spates 
Community Club at 8:30 a.m.

New – National Drug Take Back Day scheduled for Sept. 26 
Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall will participate in National Drug Take Back 
Day Sept. 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the JBM-HH Commissary located on the Fort 
Myer portion of the joint base. 
Note that intravenous solutions, injectables and syringes will not be accepted 
due to potential hazard posed by blood-borne pathogens. Substances such as marijuana 
or methamphetamines are not a part of this initiative and should not be placed in 
collection containers.

New – Piano instructor needed 
The Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall community center is seeking a 
piano/keyboard instructor to teach in the community center. Interested individuals

New – Domestic Violence Awareness Month
Join Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall Commander Col. Mike Henderson at the 
National Domestic Violence Awareness Month event, “Breaking the Silence through

New – Critical Incident Peer Support Training Oct. 20-24 
The U.S. Army Military Police School, Behavioral Sciences Education & Training 
Division will train Soldiers, DoD civilians and JBM-HH community members how to 
provide an avenue for their peers to “talk out” their personal/professional problems 
regarding critical incidents confidentially with fellow responders/investigators (non 
professionals) who not only care a great deal about their well-being, but who also have 
a first-hand understanding of their situation. The training will be held at Spates 
Community Club Oct. 20-24. Limited seats available. Call 703-696-3512 for more

New – Junior wrestling coaches, participants sought 
JBM-HH’s Child, Youth and School Age Services junior wrestling registration is 
underway until Nov. 14. The program is open to children of eligible Department of 
Defense ID card holders. The program is coed.

Fuel station for government vehicles temporarily closed 
The fuel station for government vehicles located at Transportation Motor Pool on 
the Fort Myer portion of the joint base will be temporarily closed beginning Sept. 29 at 5 
p.m. and will re-open Oct. 1 at 5:30 a.m. This temporary closure is in support of end of 
fiscal year inventory. Customers needing to refuel government vehicles during this time 
are able to use the AAFES fueling stations or local gas stations using their government

Auto Craft Shop closed Sept. 25 through Oct. 1 
The Auto Craft Shop on the Fort Myer of the joint base will be closed Sept. 25

Military Personnel Division to have new hours effective Oct. 1 
Effective Oct. 1, Military Personnel Division will be closed the first Wednesday of 
every month from 8 to 11:30 a.m. for training. 
MPD will be closed daily from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. For more information, call

Free southern country music concert Oct. 3
Keni Thomas, a former Army Ranger and Southern Country Rock artist will 
perform at Conmy Hall Oct. 3 starting at 7 p.m. Admission is free and food and

Fall Education & Career Fair Scheduled 
Mark your calendar for the MCCS Henderson Hall Fall Education & Career Fair, 
scheduled Thursday, Sept. 25, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Cpl. Terry L. Smith Gymnasium. 
Local, national, and international educators and employers will be present to meet with 
prospective students and employees, and career experts will be on site providing free 
resume review. An interactive mobile classroom will be parked outside the venue, and 
everyone is welcome to step inside. Breakfast and lunch refreshments will be provided

Hiring Heroes career fair 
JBM-HH Soldier for Life is hosting a Hiring Heroes career fair Thursday, Nov. 6

Department of Defense and other federal agencies and private sector firms. For more

The Tutor and a Buddy Program is looking for military service members to

It’s never too early to begin planning. Open season for Federal Benefits runs from 
Nov. 10 through Dec. 8. Employees are responsible for ensuring they update their

Family Readiness 
New- Yoga Therapy for EFMP children 
Learn about and experience yoga therapy designed for children with special needs Oct. 8 
from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Fort Myer Fitness Center. The class is open to DoD ID card holders 
who are parents or service providers to children with special needs ages 5-11. Child care will not 
be provided, food and drink except water are not allowed in the gym. Class size is limited. For

New- Play morning 
Play Morning is scheduled for Sept. 24 and Oct. 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29 from 10 to 11:30 
a.m. at Virginia Highlands Park, 1600 South Hayes Street, Arlington, VA 22202. 
This playgroup is for parents and preschool children to provide time for play, physical 
activity and socialization for parents. The group will meet at playground # 1, by the restrooms,

New- Anger Management 
Individuals will receive information on the basic principles of emotions management, 
specific information about the impact of unmanaged anger, and receive resources on how to 
recognize and manage the anger triggers in their own lives. The class is schedule for Sept. 24 or

New- Baby Bundles 
Prepare your home and relationship for the changes that are needed when your new baby 
arrives. A brief overview of the labor and delivery process, newborn care, and baby proofing 
your home will be discussed. Individuals will receive a bag of free baby care and safety items.

New- ScreamFree Marriage (4 part series) 
Couples will learn how to relate to each other in a calm, cool, connected way, 
celebrate differences and create a foundation for a great relationship. This is a four part 
series held Oct. 7, 14, 21 and 28 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The class is held at the Fort Belvoir

New- Darkness to Light- Stewards of Children 
This course teaches adults simple and pro-active steps to help protect children 
from sexual abuse. Open to parents, caregivers, and professionals. Class will be held

New- Playtime in the Park 
Join the JBM-HH New Parent Support Program for a morning of fun at Frying 
Pan Park- Kidwell Farm Oct. 10 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Families will be able to ride 
the carousel and enjoy the petting zoo. Parents and children ages 0-5 are welcome. For

New- Stress Management 
Participants will be given information on the basics of identifying stressors in

New- Date Night—Sizzling in the Kitchen! 
Join the Family Advocacy Program for an evening of celebrating healthy 
relationships while heating things up in the kitchen and creating healthy meals. The

New- Generation Sext! 
Many Teens believe that anything they want to do with their bodies and their 
phones is their business. Let’s discuss ways to help our children avoid potentially life-changing 
consequences by learning more about the issue and having an open 
discussion about digital safety. Class is held Oct. 30 from 10 to 11 a.m. in the ACS

MCCS Offers New Community Counseling Program
The new Community Counseling Program is designed to provide increased 
access to counseling for Marines, sailors, and their families, and to focus on screening, 
prevention, and intervention of stressors and problems to improve readiness and 
quality of life. We offer individual, couple, family, child, and group counseling services. 
All counselors are independently licensed and credentialed professionals who can work 
with you to develop a plan and find solutions to meet your needs and help you 
overcome stressors in your life. Call 703-614-7204 for an initial screening and to 
schedule an appointment. 
ACAP supports spouses in transition 
Army Career and Alumni Program offers services to the spouses of military 
personnel who are transitioning: both retiring or ETSing (Expiration of Term in Service). 
Some of the services offered to transitioning spouses include one-on-one assistance 
with a resume, a Veterans Affairs benefits briefing, Department of Labor Employment 
Workshop (includes the interview process, dress for success, building a resume, salary 
negotiation) and financial planning. 
More services include classes on home buying, credit scores, investing, TRICARE, 
finding and applying for federal jobs and much more. 
If your spouse is preparing to transition from the military -- retiring or ETSing, make 
an appointment with ACAP.

Anger Management workshops offered 
Marine & Family Programs offers anger management workshops weekly, 
Wednesdays from 9 to 11 a.m. The workshops are designed to teach eight tools for 
managing anger. Participants may start at any time, but must attend all eight sessions to 
receive a certificate of completion. 
Sessions are in Building 12’s conference room on the Henderson Hall portion of the 
joint base. The workshops are open to active duty personnel, their family members, and

Stress workshops held Tuesdays 
Marine & Family Programs offers workshops on coping with work and family stress 
on an ongoing basis. The 12-session, evidence-based series, designed to teach strategies 
for dealing with stressors, is held Tuesdays, from 2:30 to 4 p.m., in Bldg. 12’s conference 
room on the Henderson Hall portion of the joint base. Topics include identifying 
stressors, deep breathing and muscle relaxation, assertive communication, changing 
yourself talk, eating right, exercise and developing a personal stress management plan. 
The workshops are open to active duty personnel, their family members and military 
retirees.

Traffic, Roads and Grounds 
New – Temporary road closures/delays Sept. 22 
The roads around the Memorial Chapel on the Fort Myer portion of JBM-HH 
(McNair Road, Carpenter Road and Patton Drive) will be temporarily closed Monday, 
Sept. 22 from approximately 3:50 to 4:15 p.m. for a full military honors funeral service. 
All vehicle traffic will be halted and redirected during this time. 
New – Parking restricted on Fort McNair portion of JBM-HH Sept. 23 
Parking will be restricted at the Fort McNair swimming pool parking lot 
beginning Sept. 22 at 9 p.m. Sept. 23 at 6 p.m. in support of the Naval Sea Systems 
Command picnic being held on the Fort McNair parade field Sept. 23 from 10 a.m. to 3 
p.m. 
New – Summerall parking lot closed Sept. 24-25 
The Summerall parking lot on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base will be 
closed Sept. 24 at 9 p.m. until Sept. 25 in support of a ceremony on Summerall Field. 
The parking lot will reopen after the ceremony is complete Sept. 25. 
New – Henderson Hall parking restrictions Sept. 24-25 
Parking along U.S. Military Road on the Henderson Hall portion of the joint base 
will be restricted Sept. 24 at 9 p.m. in support of the Fall Education and Career Fair on 
Henderson Hall Sept. 25 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The parking restrictions are for along 
the wall adjacent to Arlington National Cemetery and will re-open after the career fair 
is complete. 
New – Summerall parking lot closed Sept. 25-26 
The Summerall parking lot on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base will be 
closed Sept. 25 at 9 p.m. until Sept. 26 in support of a ceremony on Summerall Field. 
The parking lot will reopen after the ceremony is complete Sept. 26.

Sept. 26-27 The final performances of this year’s Spirit of America will be performed in Hershey, Pa. Sept. 26 and 27 and the JBM-HH community is welcome to attend. Spirit of America is one of the Army’s largest community outreach programs and is designed to increase awareness of the Army’s rich heritage and showcase its premier ceremonial units. The history of the nation will come to life through historical reenactments, musical entertainment and precision military drill. New – Fall family festival Sept. 27 The New Parent Support program on the Henderson Hall portion of the joint base is hosting its annual Fall Family Festival Sept. 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Cpl. New – National Drug Take Back Day scheduled for Sept. 26 Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall will participate in National Drug Take Back Day Sept. 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the JBM-HH Commissary located on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base. Note that intravenous solutions, injectables and syringes will not be accepted due to potential hazard posed by blood-borne pathogens. New – Critical Incident Peer Support Training Oct. 20-24 The U.S. Army Military Police School, Behavioral Sciences Education & Training Division will train Soldiers, DoD civilians and JBM-HH community members how to provide an avenue for their peers to “talk out” their personal/professional problems regarding critical incidents confidentially with fellow responders/investigators (non professionals) who not only care a great deal about their well-being, but who also have a first-hand understanding of their situation. Fuel station for government vehicles temporarily closed The fuel station for government vehicles located at Transportation Motor Pool on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base will be temporarily closed beginning Sept. 29 at 5 p.m. and will re-open Oct. 1 at 5:30 a.m. This temporary closure is in support of end of fiscal year inventory. Customers needing to refuel government vehicles during this time are able to use the AAFES fueling stations or local gas stations using their government purchase card. Military Personnel Division to have new hours effective Oct. 1 Effective Oct. 1, Military Personnel Division will be closed the first Wednesday of every month from 8 to 11:30 a.m. for training. The new Community Counseling Program is designed to provide increased access to counseling for Marines, sailors, and their families, and to focus on screening, prevention, and intervention of stressors and problems to improve readiness and quality of life. We offer individual, couple, family, child, and group counseling services. All counselors are independently licensed and credentialed professionals who can work with you to develop a plan and find solutions to meet your needs and help you overcome stressors in your life. ACAP supports spouses in transition Army Career and Alumni Program offers services to the spouses of military personnel who are transitioning: both retiring or ETSing (Expiration of Term in Service). Some of the services offered to transitioning spouses include one-on-one assistance with a resume, a Veterans Affairs benefits briefing, Department of Labor Employment Workshop (includes the interview process, dress for success, building a resume, salary negotiation) and financial planning. More services include classes on home buying, credit scores, investing, TRICARE, finding and applying for federal jobs and much more. Anger Management workshops offered Marine & Family Programs offers anger management workshops weekly, Wednesdays from 9 to 11 a.m. The workshops are designed to teach eight tools for managing anger. Participants may start at any time, but must attend all eight sessions to receive a certificate of completion. Sessions are in Building 12’s conference room on the Henderson Hall portion of the joint base. The workshops are open to active duty personnel, their family members, and military retirees. To register, please call 703-614-7204. Stress workshops held Tuesdays Marine & Family Programs offers workshops on coping with work and family stress on an ongoing basis. The 12-session, evidence-based series, designed to teach strategies for dealing with stressors, is held Tuesdays, from 2:30 to 4 p.m., in Bldg. 12’s conference room on the Henderson Hall portion of the joint base. Topics include identifying stressors, deep breathing and muscle relaxation, assertive communication, changing yourself talk, eating right, exercise and developing a personal stress management plan. Traffic, Roads and Grounds New – Temporary road closures/delays Sept. 22 The roads around the Memorial Chapel on the Fort Myer portion of JBM-HH (McNair Road, Carpenter Road and Patton Drive) will be temporarily closed Monday, Sept. 22 from approximately 3:50 to 4:15 p.m. for a full military honors funeral service. All vehicle traffic will be halted and redirected during this time. New – Parking restricted on Fort McNair portion of JBM-HH Sept. 23 Parking will be restricted at the Fort McNair swimming pool parking lot beginning Sept. 22 at 9 p.m. Sept. 23 at 6 p.m. in support of the Naval Sea Systems Command picnic being held on the Fort McNair parade field Sept. 23 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. New – Summerall parking lot closed Sept. 24-25 The Summerall parking lot on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base will be closed Sept. 24 at 9 p.m. until Sept. 25 in support of a ceremony on Summerall Field. New – Henderson Hall parking restrictions Sept. 24-25 Parking along U.S. Military Road on the Henderson Hall portion of the joint base will be restricted Sept. 24 at 9 p.m. in support of the Fall Education and Career Fair on Henderson Hall Sept. 25 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The parking restrictions are for along the wall adjacent to Arlington National Cemetery and will re-open after the career fair is complete. New – Summerall parking lot closed Sept. 25-26 The Summerall parking lot on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base will be closed Sept. 25 at 9 p.m. until Sept. 26 in support of a ceremony on Summerall Field. The parking lot will reopen after the ceremony is complete Sept. 26.
