NEW – Early Warning system alarm to be tested Aug. 8
The Department of State in conjunction with JBM-HH Operations will test an alarm
on Summerall Field on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base Thursday, Aug. 8 at 2:30
p.m. Residents near the area can expect to hear the high noise levels. For more

NEW – Expect reduced shelf stock as commissary staff inventory
Commissary employees will be heavily involved in the inventory set for the Aug. 10-
11 weekend. The Fort Myer Commissary stocks nearly 10,000 line items, all of which
must be inventoried while remaining for sale. Shelf restocking by commissary
personnel during that weekend inventory may be minimal. For more information, call

Sgt. Maj. of the Army Raymond Chandler encourages Soldiers to consider continuing
their service in the Army Reserve. If you are planning to leave active duty, learn more
about the Army Reserve. By serving part time in the Army Reserve, you can build a
civilian career, continue your education and keep most of the benefits you earned on
active duty. The Army Reserve has positions in most MOSs in thousands of places

Enjoy ‘First Friday’
Help make a tradition of “First Friday” fun, this upcoming first Friday, Aug. 9 from
4:30 to 11:30 p.m. at the Marine Club on the Henderson Hall side of the joint base.
This is hosted by DJ D. Hood. Dance, socialize and enjoy the DJ, wings (new flavors
= spicy buffalo, parmesan garlic, Caribbean jerk and Thai curry) for 40 cents each from
4:30 to 9 p.m. This is open to all DoD ID card holders and their guests.

Furlough days/hours change for health clinics
*The U.S. Army Health Clinic at Fort McNair is closed on Fridays until Sept. 30 due
to furloughs. Hours of operation Monday through Thursday are from 6:30 a.m. to 3

*The Pentagon's DiLorenzo Health Clinic notes changes in pharmacy hours: The
DiLorenzo TRICARE Health Clinic pharmacy is now closed from noon to 1 p.m. every
day. Weekdays: open from 7 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 4 p.m. (except the fourth
Thursday of the month). On the fourth Thursday of the month, the pharmacy will be
open from 7 to 11 a.m. Use of the DiLorenzo Pharmacy is limited to those who are
authorized to use military medical facilities and who have unescorted access to the

There will be a change of responsibility at Headquarters Company, U.S. Army,

responsibility for the company to 1st Sergeant Jason L. Gusman.

Base Myer-Henderson Hall community. HQ Co., USA, is a unit of Headquarters

The Directorate of Environmental Management is having shredding events Tuesday,
Aug. 13 and Wednesday, Aug. 14. Then, Thursday, Aug. 15, there will be an electronics

The JBM-HH Central Issue Facility will close Thursday, Aug. 15 from 10:30 a.m. to 3
p.m. In addition, Rader Clinic will also close early Aug. 15 at 11 a.m. so that staff can
attend JBM-HH’s Organizational Day activities.

Women’s Equality Day will be celebrated Friday, Aug. 23 starting out from the

Prizes will be awarded to first place runners and walkers and for the unit with the
most participation. Free T-shirts will be given to the first 100 registered personnel.

The Directorate of Public Works can no longer accept Fiscal Year 2013 reimbursable
(customer funded) Individual Job Orders (DA 4283s or reimbursable demand
Customers may resume submission of reimbursable individual job orders/DMOs

those approved by the DPW director.

The MCCS Career Resource Management Center has classes scheduled to assist

On Aug. 22, “Cracking the Code to the Federal Hiring Process” is held from 1 to 3

Twilight Tattoo performances run through August
Twilight Tattoo, Wednesdays through Aug. 28, is an hour-long military pageant
featuring Soldiers from the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) and The U.S.
Army Band "Pershing's Own."
Twilight Tattoos are free and open to the public. Grass seating is available, but we

Autism class slated
The Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall's Army Exceptional Family Member Program is
sponsoring "Top Ten Things You Need to Know About the IEP Process and Extended
School Year" for military and DoD civilian parents with children with autism and other
cognitive disabilities Thursday, Aug. 8 from noon to 3 p.m. The class will be held in
Building 201 on the Fort Myer side of the joint base. Guest speaker will be Army Lt. Col.
Scott Campbell, parent of an autistic child and board member of the Autism Society of
America's northern Virginia chapter. Learn about IEP navigation and extended school
