NEW – Early Warning system alarm to be tested Aug. 8 The Department of State in conjunction with JBM-HH Operations will test an alarm on Summerall Field on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base Thursday, Aug. 8 at 2:30 p.m. Residents near the area can expect to hear the high noise levels.   2. 2. Commissary employees will be heavily involved in the inventory set for the Aug. 10- 11 weekend. The Fort Myer Commissary stocks nearly 10,000 line items, all of which must be inventoried while remaining for sale. Shelf restocking by commissary personnel during that weekend inventory may be minimal. For more information, call 703-696-3674. Transitioning? Think about Army Reserve Sgt. Hours of operation Monday through Thursday are from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. For emergency services call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room as the clinic is not equipped for emergencies. To get an “urgent care” appointment, call 1-855-227-6331; for a dental appointment, call 703-696-3460. *The Pentagon's DiLorenzo Health Clinic notes changes in pharmacy hours: The DiLorenzo TRICARE Health Clinic pharmacy is now closed from noon to 1 p.m. every day. Weekdays: open from 7 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 4 p.m. (except the fourth Thursday of the month). On the fourth Thursday of the month, the pharmacy will be open from 7 to 11 a.m. Use of the DiLorenzo Pharmacy is limited to those who are authorized to use military medical facilities and who have unescorted access to the Pentagon. Headquarters Co., U.S.A., change of responsibility There will be a change of responsibility at Headquarters Company, U.S. Army, Friday, Aug. 9 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Spates Community Club, Building 407, on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base as 1st Sergeant Brian St. Germaine relinquishes responsibility for the company to 1st Sergeant Jason L. Gusman. Everyone is invited to this time-honored ceremony to bid farewell to St. Germaine and his Family and welcome Gusman and his Family to HQ Co., USA, and the Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall community. HQ Co., USA, is a unit of Headquarters Command Battalion, the Army’s largest battalion with more than 9,000 active duty and reserve component Soldiers assigned or attached, conducting worldwide operations. Aug. 13, shredding will occur on the Fort McNair portion of the joint base: Building 29 from 9 to 10 a.m., and at Building 62 from 10 to 11 a.m. Aug. 14, shredding will be at Building 29, Henderson Hall portion of the joint base from 9 to 10 a.m.; at Building 59 (Fort Myer portion of JBM-HH) from 10 to 11 a.m.; and Building 321, also at Fort Myer from 11 a.m. to noon. Aug. 15, there will be an electronics recycle event. No government equipment will be accepted; large items such as CRT monitors and TVs cannot be accepted. Women’s Equality Day to feature 5K run/walk Women’s Equality Day will be celebrated Friday, Aug. 23 starting out from the Fitness Center, Building 414 on the Fort Myer side of the joint base. The theme is “Celebrating Women’s Right to Vote.” Prizes will be awarded to first place runners and walkers and for the unit with the most participation. Free T-shirts will be given to the first 100 registered personnel. Refreshments will be provided. This is free and open to all military personnel, civilian employees, Family members and retirees. On Aug. 21, from 9 a.m. to noon, learn how to market yourself for a second career. On Aug. 22, “Cracking the Code to the Federal Hiring Process” is held from 1 to 3 p.m. This class explains how to apply for federal jobs, including how to prepare the appropriate résumé. Adecco will be on site Aug. 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., to conduct a military spouse career connections intake session. Autism class slated The Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall's Army Exceptional Family Member Program is sponsoring "Top Ten Things You Need to Know About the IEP Process and Extended School Year" for military and DoD civilian parents with children with autism and other cognitive disabilities Thursday, Aug. 8 from noon to 3 p.m. The class will be held in Building 201 on the Fort Myer side of the joint base. Guest speaker will be Army Lt. Col. Scott Campbell, parent of an autistic child and board member of the Autism Society of America's northern Virginia chapter. Participants will get information on the labor and delivery process, newborn and mother care, home - infant safety, and discuss strategies for navigating the change in relationship dynamics when a child arrives. Each participant will receive a bag containing parenting resources, baby care items and a hand knit blanket.
