The Henderson Hall Single Marines Program and Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers will participate in Wreaths Across America at Arlington National Cemetery Saturday, Dec. 13 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Anyone can volunteer for this opportunity. New – Heavy equipment at Myer Dec. 13
So that workers can remove a roof on the Community Activities Center, Building 405 on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base, a crane will be at the site Saturday, Dec. 13 from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. to get the job done.
2. During this time, McNair Road will be limited to one lane of traffic with personnel on site to direct traffic. Both drivers and pedestrians must use caution in the area and be aware of the heavy equipment.

New – Army – Navy Game 2014: America’s game The Black Knights of Army and the Midshipmen of Navy will square off for the 115th time for one of the most storied rivalries in college sports Saturday, Dec. 13 at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland, for the 2014 Army-Navy Game. New – DFAC offers special Christmas meal The special Christmas meal – also open to retirees and DoD ID card holders – will be served Thursday, Dec. 25, at the dining facility on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at a cost of $7.70 per person; Brunch will be served from 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 25 for $5.35; supper will be served from 4 to 5:30 p.m. for $6.55. Holiday toy program hosted by ACS volunteer association
The JBM-HH ACS Volunteer Association is working with the joint base Chaplains’ Holiday Food Assistance Program to make sure military children have some cool toys for Christmas. Bring new, unwrapped toys to the donation box at the Fort Myer Exchange now through Dec. 12 or to Army Community Service, Building 201 on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base.

3. ‘Ruach Warrior’ weekly Bible study
"Ruach Warrior" Weekly Bible Study is held every Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to noon in the Henderson Hall Chapel, Building 29. The next session is Wednesday, Dec. 10. This is a non-denominational study of the Bible to encourage and uplift your spirit on key principles. 257th Army Band in concert Dec. 15
“The Band of the Nation’s Capital, the District of Columbia National Guard’s 257th Army Band will be in concert Monday, Dec. 15 at 7 p.m. at the Holy Comforter-Saint Cyprian Roman Catholic Church, 1357 East Capitol Street, SE, Washington, D.C. The concert will feature a seasonal mix of new and favorite music. The concert is free.
Pentagram to mark 62 years in publication
That’s right, the Pentagram has been in publication 62 years (rather than the 58 years reported last week) with the arrival of 2015. We’re here to stay, but there will be a newspaper hiatus: the final issue of the Pentagram for 2014 will be Thursday, Dec. 18; the first issue of 2015 will be Thursday, Jan. 8. This issue will be the very popular “Year in Review.”

4. Army Finance offices take half a day to celebrate season

Civilian employees need annual leave assist
Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security (JBM-HH) employee Shari Dixon, Joint Force Headquarters – NCR – Military District of Washington Public Affairs Office employee, Shaunteh D. Kelly, Logistics Readiness Center (JBM-HH) employee, Johnny L. Bailey, and Directorate of Emergency Services (JBM-HH) employee, Christopher Watson, are approved recipients of the civilian personnel annual leave donor program. Due to medical issues, they have exhausted both sick and annual leave.
Department of the Army civilian employees who would like to donate annual leave to Dixon, Kelly, Bailey and Watson must fill out Form OPM 630A, "Request to Donate Annual Leave to Leave Recipient Under the Voluntary Leave Transfer Program (Within Agency)" at www.opm.gov/forms/pdf_fill/opm630a.pdf.

Soldier for Life – Transition Assistance Program supports spouses in transition
Soldier for Life – Transition Assistance Program (formerly Army Career and Alumni Program) offers services to the spouses of military personnel who are transitioning: both retiring or ETSing (Expiration of Term in Service).
Some of the services offered to transitioning spouses include one-on-one assistance with a resume, a Veterans Affairs benefits briefing, Department of Labor Employment Workshop (includes the interview process, dress for success, building a resume, salary negotiation) and financial planning.
More services include classes on home buying, credit scores, investing, TRICARE, finding and applying for federal jobs and much more.
