The Role Of Parenthood In Jodi Picoult s Nineteen Minutes
In nineteen minutes, you can mow the front lawn, color your hair, watch a third of a hockey
game. You can bake scones or get a tooth filled by a dentist.... Or, as Peter Houghton knows... in
nineteen minutes, you can bring the whole world to a screeching halt (Picoult 363). In Nineteen
Minutes by Jodi Picoult, Peter had been bullied his whole life, and he wanted revenge. Peter felt
the only way to get revenge was to pull the trigger towards classmates and teachers.
Nineteen Minutes takes place in a small town known as Sterling. In Sterling, everybody knows
everybody. You stop at an intersection, and you know the person stopped next to you. You see
your neighbors at the grocery store, and your teacher at Olive Garden. So obviously, everyone in
the small town knew Peter and his family. Could you imagine the looks Peter s parents receive

They can t imagine their son doing something so terrible. They feel out of place when they get
their groceries now, like every eye is on them. Lacy and Lewis think they have completely failed at
parenthood, and it is secretly eating both of them up internally.
Conflict was created between Peter and his parents. Peter did not meet the standards his deceased
brother held. Peter s parents were disappointed in the difference between sons. To adulterate Peter
s situation, he was constantly bullied by classmates in and out of school. One day Peter could not
handle it anymore, and the last string of the braided rope broke.
The conflict Peter was struggling with himself was impossible to conquer without support from
others, and Peter never truly had the support he needed to thrive. Peter was suffering from post
traumatic stress disorder as a result of chronic victimization. Peter had a foggy ending, which made
it seem like the bullying would never stop, so he figured he was the one who had to stop

The Interrelationship Between The Overcoat And Gogol
The interrelationship between The Overcoat, written by Nikolai Gogol, and Gogol, written by
Jhumpa Lahiri, may not be apparent at first, but with the help of My Two Lives, also written by
Jhumpa Lahiri, one can see that both The Overcoat and Gogol are connected by ties that hold
them together. Although Gogol and the speaker in My Two Lives share similar backgrounds and
can directly relate to each other, Akaky can also connect to Lahiri and Gogol because all they all
yearn for acceptance from those around them. One point of comparison is the practice of naming
connects Akaky, from The Overcoat, and Gogol together by having similar practices. Another
similarity between all three works is that each main character questions their identity, eventually
overcoming their struggle of being seen as different.
Both Akaky Akakiyevich, and Gogol Ganguli live in cultures where their nameshave substantial
meaning. Although the way that a person is named differs from culture to culture, the naming
process has similar characteristics. Readers can infer from both The Overcoat and Gogol that
names in Russian and Bengali have significant meaning and helps shape who the person is when
they grow older. However, one thing that varies greatly between these two cultures is when they are
named and how many names they have. In Russian culture, the name is picked after the baby is
born, in which the mother or elders give the child a name and hope that he or she will live up to the

Aristophanes Voices Concerns for Ancient Greek Culture in...
Aristophanes was not a proponent of the majority of Athenian culture, as well as other aspects of
Greek life as whole. He despised the political, educational, and societal views that remained
persistent throughout Athens. While his plays may be comedies, he uses them in an assortment of
ways. His plays are used to demonstrate a purpose far beyond that of entertainment. He uses his
writing for voicing the problems that lie in Ancient culture.
Aristophanes uses each play to reveal certain issues that he felt should have been dealt with. His
plays featured satire, farces, and even comical dialogue. His plays were written with clarity and
were quite lyrical. Using plays as vessels for opinion is defined best by saying that The ... Show

He creates a private and individual peace treaty with the Spartans, and he finally receives his
peace. His land and his home become war free (The Acharnians, lines 195 204).
The Acharnians were appalled that Dikaiopolis had signed a peace treaty. They form a mob and
head to his home. There, they insult him and they threaten his life. But the whole time this is going
on, Dikaiopolis is mocking them. He is insulting them because of how foolish they really are.
Dikaiopolis doesn t understand why they want to fight so much.
He takes every opportunity to advocate their stupidity by comically refuting their actions toward
him and his family. Dikaiopolis says, Comedy too can sometimes discern what is right. I shall not
please, but I shall say what is true, (The Acharnians, lines 500 501). He means that he is going to
say whatever he feels is right, and in the end, no matter what actions the Acharnians take, there isn t
anything they can do to stop him from laughing at what they do.
Aristophanes uses Dikaiopolis as an agent of conveyance. The Peloponnesian War had devastated
the Greek world in the 5th century (Perry, pg. 70), and this play was written to solidify
Aristophanes agreement with this statement. By choosing the Acharnians for this play, he chose a
people that the Athenians could relate to; a beaten down group of individuals whose only hopes of
regaining pride rested in their efforts to win the war.
When this play was written, the Peloponnesian War

Professional Sports Teams Move Essay
Professional Sports Teams Move Cities Fight To Keep Them nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;
nbsp;Professional sports, like most of our popular culture, can be understood only partly by
through its exiting plays and tremendous athletes. Baseball and football most of all are not only
games anymore but also hardcore businesses. As businesses, sports leagues can be as conniving,
deceitful, and manipulative as any other businesses in the world. No matter what the circumstances
are, it seems that Politicians are always some how right around the corner from the world of
sports. These Politicians look to exploit both the cultural and the economic dimensions of the sports
for their own purposes. This is what is known in the sports industry as playing... Show more content

This type of political confrontations enables teams to control debate, leaving city officials
playing defense. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;Possibly those who are most effected by the sport
s industry s willingness to abandon a community are the dedicated fans. When Al Davis moved
the Oakland Raiders to Los Angeles, he pulled away from some of sport s most loyal fans and
also hurt his football team. The NFL s Colts and Cardinals have also had failures on the field
since their moves. These three teams are proof that all the greed that was put into the moving of
their franchises hasn t brought them more success or in some cases less success. nbsp; nbsp;
nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;In every move there are two sides to the politics. There are the teams
themselves and there are the cities that fight to keep them. In May 1991, Sharon Pratt Dixon,
Mayor of Washington, D.C. said, We re going to do whatever it takes to keep the Redskins here.
Sports has become an industry, and to the extent that we can guarantee jobs for the District
residents, we will do whatever it takes, including building the stadium ourselves (Euchner 1), this
is one view of how a city official fights for a team. The other viewpoint is from the side of the
team owner, Al Davis, managing general partner of the Raiders said, just build it (Euchner 1).
These viewpoints are why sports teams move and cities fight to keep

Mendelsohn Vs Von Hentig Essay
Mendelsohn vs. Von Hentig
Hans von Hentig, Benjamin Mendelsohn, and Stephen Schafer were the three early victimologist
that proposed victim typologies that were used to classify victims in terms of their responsibility or
their role in their own victimization. According to Von Hentig the victim and criminal are NOT in
isolation but rather together. Von Hentig s concept of Agent provocateurs says that victims may
provoke victimization based on their characteristics. Von Hentig s 13 categories of victims are the
young, female, old, immigrants, Depressed, Mentally defective, the acquisitive, Dull normal,
Minorities, Wanton, The lonesome and heartbroken, Tormentor, The blocked, exempted and

Group Presentation: Progressivisms
Woodrow Wilsons Acts to Progressivisms
In the year of 1912, Democrat electoral candidate Woodrow Wilson was running in the Presidential
Election against T.R. Roosevelt, W. Taft and E. Debs. After winning by a sland slide, and being
nominated as the 28th President of the United State. President Wilson quickly went to work to save
this nation from them, thus he created 2 antitrust laws and establishing the first federal bank.
Thus, in 1912 Wilson started to reshape America The Federal Reserve Actof 1912 was the
beginning of President Wilson s one of three progressivisms acts, within the first 2 yrs. of him
being in power. This was Wilson s first act as President and his progressive movement to help and
stabilize a nation from an economic depression, unfair labor exploitations, and end of corporate
monopolies.
I do not want a government that will take care of me, he declared. I want a government that will
make other men take their hands off so I can take care of myself. Woodrow Wilson:

Issue Analysis Microsoft has a strong culture whereby all the employees perceive in the same
beliefs and norms of innovation. Ahmed amp; Shepherd (2010) asserted that the value of strong
cultures carries beliefs and assumptions that the organisation is able to facilitate behaviours
according to organizational principles. The success from Microsoft is due to the careful
management of the organisation culture. They facilitate the employees to feel comfortable working
in the organisation. Therefore, it enhances the creativity of the employees themselves. In addition,
according to competing values model of organisational culture, Microsoft is presumed to adopt
adhocracy and market culture. The characteristic of adhocracy organisation is they are trying to be
the leader of the market. Microsoft is indeed the leader for software market. Another thing is
adhocracy organisation tends to emphasize on the creativity, innovation and opportunities growth
(Lund, 2003). When Microsoft saw the opportunity of diversifying their product into mobile phone,
they took the opportunity to expand their market with creativity and innovation. On a same page,
Microsoft also adopts the market culture in the organisation. The market culture is more toward

Assess the gains and losses of Gallipoli
Gallipoli gave Australia its identity as nation and built what our nation is today. Gallipoli was
one major fundamental factor in our culture. When you look back into the history of Australia at
war you ll hear Anzacs and diggers a lot. These names all came from one war and in fact one
battle. Anzac stands for the Australian New Zealand army corps. The term diggers comes from
soldiers continually digging trenches, holes and bunkers to sleep in and take cover during an
artillery duel. The term has remained with us for over 90 years. Our soldiers are still living in holes.

There were eight Victoria crosses handed out to Australian soldiers during the Gallipoli campaign.
One of the most famous VC award winners was Lance Corporal Albert Jacka. On the 19 May, the
Turkish launched an a attack to push the Australians into the sea. They seized ten metres of
trench at a place called Courtney s Post, but Australians at either end stopped them from
continuing to advance. At the northern end Jacka, with several of his mates, tried to get rid the
Turkish at the post, but were beaten back. It was then decided that while a feint attack was made
from the one end, Jacka would attack from behind. Jacka s mates waited long enough for Jacka
to circle in behind and then threw two bombs and gave covering fire. Jacka leapt over the
parapet, shot five Turkish soldiers with his rifle, bayonetted two others and forced the rest to
flee the captured trench. Members of Jacka s battalion, 14th Battalion, believed he should of

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Tissue Microarray
Tissue microarray
Tissue micro arrays (TMAs) was introduced by Kononen et al. in 1998 157. This technique is
based on the assembly of separate tissue cores on a paraffin block, which may contain up to 1000
cores. TMA can be used for several purposes, in which the detection of protein is the most
common. In this thesis, prognosis/outcome based arrays was applied to evaluate the prognostic
value of various proliferation markers.
Several advantages and disadvantages are associated with TMA compared to the classic single
sample microscope slide. Advantages associated with this technique include rapid and high
throughput validation of biomarkers, less reagent consumption, less expensive, decreased technical
time, decreased assessment time, decreased variability of results, standardization and the
possibility of digitizing and quantifying results 155,158 162. However, TMA is not better than the
classic microscope slide in every are. Several disadvantages are also associated with this technique,

Types Of Exorcism
Types of Exorcism
Prayer is a powerful tool in the battle against evil and is also a powerful tool in exorcism. When
we think about exorcisms, the first type of demonic activity that likely comes to mind is
demonic possession. Possession is the rarest form of spiritual activity but comes to mind of most
people around the world when we talk about exorcisms. Hollywood has capitalized on this type
of demonic activity and has created hundreds of movie titles based on this type of activity alone.
However, the most common exorcisms are not at all like one would witness on the big screen. In
fact, most Christians have probably said a form of minor exorcism prayer since the Our Father is
considered to be one. There are three main forms of exorcism that is practiced within the Anglican
Church: exorcism of objects, places and people.
Objects Almost any object, other than a holy one, can be infested.
Places Some examples of the cause of unwanted activity within a place, according to the Exorcism:
The Findings of a Commission Convened by the Bishop of Exeter, include souls of the departed,
human sin, place memories, poltergeist and demonic interference.
People If a person requires an exorcism, the most important thing to keep in mind is the safety of
the person affected and the safety of those around. A thorough psychological examination should
always be conducted first to rule out any natural underlying causes for the symptoms present. If it
is found to be a likely case of

My Lost Vacation
One of the best vacations I have been on is when I went to Las Vegas, Nevada, becuase it s one
out of the two vacations I ve ever been on. I went on this trip with my mom and my dad. This was
the first time my parents and I have been to Vegas.
One of the main reasons we went to Vegas was for the Motocross Championships. We left early in
the morning at 5:00 am to make out flight in Cedar Rapids. We flew to Denver, Colorado and then
flew from Denver to Las Vegasarriving sometime in the middle of the day. When we got to Las
Vegas we went to get a car rental. We met this cool guy that we rented the car from because he
gave us a good deal by giving us a mid size car rental but only charging us for a compact size car.
After we got our car rental we went to go eat at the Mexican restaurant. This Mexican restaurant
looked like this old beat down little building but was a bomb restaurant. This Mexican restaurant
was one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten at. It was amazingly delicious. After all our bellies
were full we decided to go see the Vegas strip where all the famous buildings and places were.
Later after we were done exploring we went back to our resort and wandered around, then went
to bed. The time schedule was different so we were staying up till about 2 in the morning from
Vegas, but about 12 pm in Iowa. The next morning we wake up and go downstairs and get a cup of
Starbucks coffee. After we got our coffee we would go hang out by the pool outside or I would

A Change In Theatre
Ever since the world was created, humans have tried to express themselves trough art. Painting,
sculpting, music, and, above everything, theatre. Even before they could speak properly ,
primitives use dance and small rituals as a way of enterteinment. However, now, in the higly
technology developed world we live, every day there are more various and modern options to do in
our free time but, at the same time all changes and becomes dull too fast. This puts theatrein a really
fragile position and makes us wonder if it will become out of style or if, on the contrary, as this
essay will proof, it will still be relevant and up to date for the next generations.
According to The Telegraph, Great BritainВґs theatre audiences decreased a 9 percent between
2010 and 2012, and the rates are only diminishing. This makes clear that the theatre as we know it,
is being less succesful. Nevertheless, this rates donВґt look after new ways of theatre. And, as the

Baz Luhrmann s Presentation of Romeo and Juliet to a Modern Audience In this essay, I will be
comparing the way the 400 years old William Shakespeare s film Romeo and Juliet was
transformed by Baz luharmann for the understanding of the modern audience. Romeo and Juliet
was written by William Shakespeare 400 years ago. In the past plays were acted in the theatre.
The plays were totally different from the way they are now. The theatre had a stage where the
play was to be acted; this had an entrance and an exit. There was no lighting and no scenery; there
was also a balcony on the first floor where some scenes were acted. Below the stage was where the
audience stood to watch the play. There were... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The film starts with a television set and a newscaster reading the news. This is the way the
prologue is first presented. She talks about the setting in fair Verona, where we lay our scene ,
she talks about the main story and characters in this quotation two households both alike in
dignity and she also says short statements which are a brief summary of the play. At the top right
corner of the screen there is a picture of a broken ring and below it are these words; star crossed
lovers . This illustrates that there is love and a broken relationship between two lovers in the
film. Also the broken ring suggests that the lovers relationship will be but a short one as it is
destined to end in tragedy. Also there is dramatic operatic music at the background; it suggests
the film will most likely be a tragedy as is often seen in grand operas. The Prologue is delivered
again. This is very different from the first time; it contains flashes of scenes in the film
/ informative clips. This prologue has a voiceover of Friar. He is the perfect person for this job
because he knows the story from the start to the end. The clips are very informative. The two
towers with the names MONTAGUE AND CAPULET suggest wealth and probably business
rivalry, which a modern audience would understand. It also shows they are both well to do
families. We can also say they are of the same status:

Rhode Island Business Plan Competition
2. Literature Review Research shows that business plan competitions throughout time have always
provided a substantial opportunity to improve entrepreneurial education. Student entrepreneurs
originally were interested in business plan competitions because it was a place for them to create
and pitch their business ideas to real investors and get incredible feedback. However, over time, the
location of the competitions, the people competing in the competitions, the robustness of business
plans, and the outcome of the competition have changed. These four factors affect each other and
have changed how people go about growing as entrepreneurs. 2.1 Business Plan Competition
Locations More and more business plan competitions have been popping up all over the world in
the past ten years. A 2006 survey of 2,100 universities by the Kauffman Foundation shows that 16
percent of universities were offering business plan competitions around the world; so today in 2016
I am sure that percentage has increased (Leffel and Hallum 2008). The United States has some of
the better known business plan competitions, such as the Rhode Island Business Plan Competition.
While many are open to international entrepreneurs, most depend on one s location or affiliation to
a university which is limiting. However, in the middle is the Rhode Island Business Plan

Storyteller By Sandra Cisneros
In the essay, The Storyteller, Sandra Cisneros describes different aspects that happened
throughout her life. For example, she talks about family traditions, her independence, how her
father didn t agree with her decision to become a writer. Cisneros also describes about how
passionate she is about her writing and how she was a teacher. Her father wanted her to be a
weather girl on television or get married and have babies. Even with all the criticism of her
father Cisneros still managed to live her life as she wanted. Cisneros also emphasizes how
important it was for her to have her own space and privacy. Cisneros didn t let anyone make
choices you don t want to do, always do what you want to make yourself happy and not anyone

My Passion For Architectural Design
I have always had a passion for being practical for as long as I can remember, I often sought
pleasure from helping my parents build dreaded flat pack furniture. Over the years this passion for
being practical and building things has just developed into a love for structures and especially in
the last few I have been able to hone my passion down to architecture. What could be greater than
wanting to design these great edifices and seeing your design built for people to integrate into
part of the lives. My application to your university derives from my eagerness to study at one of
the best universities in the UK and from my desire to create well designed spaces that are both
practical and gratifying to the eye. It also hopes to ensure a satisfaction for my passion for
practicality, my appreciation of architecture and hopefully in the future it should secure me a place
among some of the architectural greats.
As a designer, I am constantly studying the world around me and looking at ways in which I can
change and mould it to make it more appealing and suitable for the tasks we undertake in our
everyday lives. This is reflected in my Extended Project Qualification that I completed earlier this
year which looks into the influence of architecture on human behaviour and how this compelling
link between the health and satisfaction of the human body that is largely determined by the
fundamental design of buildings can often be ignored by many of the architectural designers today.

Race And Hybridity In The Falcon
Race and Hybridity in Saga Book One
Fantasy literature in the twentieth and twenty first centuries often use the construction of new
races as a mirror through which to see the human race more clearly. Categorizations of fantasy
have tended to avoid discussions of race, in part because it is an uncomfortable gray area since
fantasy literature does not yet have a clear taxonomy. It was not until the 1960s that audiences saw
their first black character in The Falcon. In the years after that, characters of different races were
few and far between. Comic authors felt far more comfortable discussing America s racial turmoil
using an all white cast of mutants, rather than diversifying and risking their books get panned
altogether. Nevertheless, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

relatively at the same height that she was before death. The brightness of her character
overwhelms most of the frames that she appears in. She glows neon red and pink and vibrates

The Horrors are savagely violent and says that she once saw a pack of them rip a man s spine

Afterall, if The Stalk is afraid, surely The Horrors are truly vicious monsters. Upon meeting the

Impact Of Fossil Fuels On Our Planet
THE IMPACT FOSSIL FUELS HAVE ON OUR PLANET
Oil reserves are found all over the world. Some reserves produced more oil than others. Saudi
Arabia, Russia, the United States, Iran, and China are the top oil producing countries (U.S.
Department of Energy, 2013). Petroleum is produced in 31 states throughout the United States
(U.S. Department of Energy, 2013). Texas, Alaska, California, Louisiana, and Oklahoma are the
states that produce the most petroleum (U.S. Department of Energy, 2013). It is used to fuel most
cars in the United States, but petroleum is also used to make many more products that we use on a
daily basis (U.S. Department of Energy, 2013). A majority of petroleum is turned into an energy
source. Petroleum can be used to make heating oil, diesel fuel, jet fuel, and propane, in addition to
making gasoline (U.S. Department of Energy, 2013). It can also be turned into petrochemical
feedstock, which is derived from petroleum principally for the manufacturing of chemicals,
synthetic rubber, and plastics (U.S. Department of Energy, 2013). It is used to make many common
household products, such as crayons, dishwashing liquids, deodorant, eyeglasses, tires, and
ammonia (U.S. Department of Energy, 2013).
The United States need for petroleum surpasses the amount it can produce; meaning, a majority of
our oil (roughly 60 percent) must be imported from foreign countries (U.S. Department of Energy,
2013). Canada is the country we import the most oil from, followed by Saudi

Summary Of Jakobce s Narrative-Cadence Is Ill
Cadence was ill.
An immense pressure bore in her head as she slowly awoke from her midday slumber, her
daydreams slowly fading away from her mind. Reality sunk in, and she found herself awake. Dim
light shone through the windows and it pierced her eyes, worse than a thousand needles ever could.
Her mental screams sounded that of countless condemned souls, shrieking for life
For the past week, Cadence had been suffering from a terminal fever and headache. Nonstop agony.
It was miserable.
She groaned in pain as she tried getting up, only to collapse on her own weight. Falling had

The clock read 8:42. A small smile crossed Cadence s face as she grabbed her shattered crown

Click.
Her eyes closed, her heart beating faster than normal, a sharp tang was piercing through her flesh;
her muffled screams, an unavailing attempt to suppress her agony, were nothing more than a
pathetic depiction of her strength, her failure to endure true pain since it was beyond her capable
sufferance. She failed to withhold. Terrifying ululations erupted from her as it ripped through her a
cloud of shadow blurring her vision as it begin to take form in front of her. When it was done its

The aftermath of all this sent uncomfortable feelings down her body, but she was used to it, and
they were only brief. The feeling was akin to strong jolts of electricity discharging throughout one s

There are quite a few similarities and differences between the two. Both structures took a couple
years to construct. They both incorporate arches into the structure. The Arch in Saint Louis is
one arch while the Arch of Constantine is three arches. Both were built in honor of an
accomplishment. Both the Arch of Constantine and the Arch in Saint Louis were of massive
size. The Arch of Constantine was the largest triumphal arch in Rome while the Arch in Saint
Louis is the largest manmade arch in the world. Both monuments sit in a location within their
cities that is easily accessible to the public. They both also have complex designs. One was
made of heavy stone which took time to move and construct it plus with all the carvings required
skilled labor and coordination. The other was made of steel and required skilled labor and
coordination. After getting past the similarities we come to all the differences that there are
between them. The Arch of Constantine was built to honor an Emperor because of a war he had
won. The Arch in Saint Louis was built to honor the expansion of the United States from the
Louisiana Purchase. The audiences of the two monuments were different because of what each
monument stood for. The Arch of Constantine would be similar to a war memorial of present day.
After the purpose, symbolism, and message we get to the appearance. One of the monuments was
made of stone which is common for the time period and the other was made of stainless steel
which would be common for its time period. The Arch in Saint Louis could not be made of stone
because of the complex design involved in creating this structure. The Arch of Constantine could
not be made of Stainless steel because it had not been developed. Another difference is the
elaborate design on the Arch of Constantine while the Arch in Saint Louis is modern and clean. The
sides were straight with no designs on them and

Disadvantages Of Infinitive Clauses
Section Three
3.1 Non finite clauses
(Quirk, Greenbaum, Geoffrey, Svartik, 1985), say that non finite clauses are regularly dependent.
They are more compact and less explicit than finite clauses. They are not marked for tense and
modality, and they frequently lack an explicit subject and subordinator. (17): I don t know what to
write about.
3.1.1 Types of non finite clauses
1 Bare infinitive
Bare infinitive is the base form of the verb without to, this form of nonfinite clause has no tense.
The bare infinitive in general is very limited because it mostly occurs after verbs of causation,
perception and modal auxiliary. (18): I saw Jim leave. (See is a verb of perception) (19): I can tell
the truth. (Telling the truth is what occurs after modal auxiliary.
Bare infinitive in this case, functions as the complement of a verb, that is , it adds more
information to make the main verb understandable. (Biber, Johansson, Leech, Conrad, Finegan,
1999).
2 Infinitive clauses
Uninflected infinitive forms which comprise simply the base or stem of the verb with no added
inflection (such forms are frequently used after the so called infinitive particle to) Infinitive clauses
can have a range of syntactic roles a subject (20): The best thing would be for you to tell
everybody. b without subject (21): The best thing would be to tell everybody. c Direct object (22):
He upset you very much, and I hate to see that. (Quirk, Greenbaum, Geoffrey, Svartik, 1985)

The Policy Of Appeasement During The Outbreak Of War Essay
Evaluate the view that the policy of appeasement played a major role in the outbreak of war in
Europe in 1939. After the mass amount of life lost in World War One, many countries, through
the League of Nations, opted to prevent future conflict. Due to the failure collective security, the
idea that countries could discourage aggression, appeasement became a policy adopted in the
1930s, especially by the British. Appeasement was developed in the belief that countries such as
Germany were unfairly treated in the Treaty of Versailles. It was used in hope to prevent
Germany and Italy going to war. Appeasement was seen to be magnanimous, good business,
idealistic and a form of security. The policy of appeasement was widely pursued by Britain and
France in the 1930s, refers to attempting to satisfy Germany s demands by negotiation and
compromise in order to avoid another war. However due to its failure, the policy of
appeasement, to a large extent was responsible for the outbreak of war in 1939. It is clear that if
the Western Powers had retaliated against Hitler, war could have been avoided. Despite large
extent the policy of appeasement in the outbreak of war it is superseded by other factors as well.
The policy of appeasement allowed for some of Hitler s goal of Lebensraum, many factors
causing the outbreak of War in Europe. Hitler ordered German rearmament in October 1933.
Rearmament was Germany s plea for equality, as a result of the crippling terms of the Treaty of

Assignment #5
When Josh was asked, during a bankruptcy proceeding, whether he had ever been sued, he

distress. That suit had been settled many years earlier and had no financial impact on Josh today.
Josh s debts were discharged in bankruptcy. Creditors want the discharge revoked because of Josh s

Should a discharge be revoked because of a lie made in court by the debtor that had no impact on
the case?

Mr. Alleman argued that Mr. Kitson failed to retain business records for Kitson Enterprises, a
corporation of which Mr. Kitson was the sole shareholder and В§727(a)(3) of the Bankruptcy Code
prohibits discharge when the debtor has concealed, destroyed, mutilated, falsified, or failed to keep

financial condition because the corporation s tax returns showed that the business made no profit,
the bankruptcy court had determined that Kitson Enterprises had no assets, and Mr. Kitson had
earned no money from the corporation. The Court of Appeals, therefore, agreed that the bankruptcy
court was correct to conclude that the records were immaterial and discharge was not barred under
В§727(a)(3).
Mr. Alleman also submitted that the bankruptcy court should not have granted Mr. Kitson a
discharge because he had made a number of misstatements and omissions on the bankruptcy
statement and schedules, and В§727(a)(4) forbids discharge where the debtor knowingly and
fraudulently . . . made a false oath or account. The bankruptcy court found that Mr. Kitson s

opportunity to write at all times. With the writing and art centers, the children will be able to create
works of art such as stories, pictures, writing their names, and other works of art that they would
like. In the writingand art centers, the possibilities are endless as to what the children can create
and they are able to use their imagination, fine motor skills, all while working on communicating
their thoughts and ideas onto paper. The reason I chose building blocks/construction center for my
classroom is because the children get to have a hands on experience to learn through. Building
blocks help with the cognitive development in preschoolers, and they can also use their own
imaginations to create a masterpiece. With blocks, children are also able to learn about the

Puritan Influence On New England
Starting in the early 1600s, the first significant non Spanish colonizers began finding their way to
the coasts north of the where the Christopher Columbus had first appeared in North America,
mainly in hopes of practicing their own religion without persecution and in search of a fresh start in
the New World. Left and right in England, Puritans and other Protestant religions faced
discrimination by royal authorities, and they were determined to have a place where they were
free to worship how they pleased. Still others saw this opportunity as a way to rise economically.

In New England, due to the surrounding terrain and poor weather of New England, people lived
in tight knit towns, shortening the traveling distance in times of hazardous conditions and
relying on each other for different services. There was a heavy Puritan presence, and in these
towns, the church often lay in the middle, easily accessible and central to people s lives. In the
start, the Puritans envisioned what lawyer John Winthrop had called a city on a hill from which
they would spread religious righteousness. However, this passion was somewhat diluted over
time as the population rose and education became more widespread among New England s
children. Also, there was a long life expectancy up to 70 years! which was aided by the healthy
climate, which in turn helped lead to more family stability. However, in the Southern colonies,
the same closeness that was apparent in the North wasn t present. Due to the fact that many men
died young in the south, women were often left to tend to families on their own. Especially in
the Chesapeake bay, many women bore children out of wedlock. This gender disparity even led
to a level of property rights for women during the time, whereas in the north, that was usually not
the case. Towns and cities took a long time to form due to the sheer space available, and the
spaces between plantations meant that schools and churches were expensive projects. And while
the southern colonists were religious as well, leaning more towards the Anglican church, it was a
less central aspect of their lives. On top of all of this, the agricultural economy of the south led to a
tightening grip on a heavily classed society. Slaves were considered the lowest of low, while the
previously mentioned aristocrats, plantation owners, and merchants at the top held a considerable

My First Solo Travel: A Series of Unfortunate Events

Prosthetics During The Civil War
Prosthetics has always been part of most of our history, and it has come a long way since then.
Forms of prosthetics date way back to the Civil War, and has made a lot of progress throughout
the years. During the Civil War, many soldiers would have to be amputated everyday to save
their lives. For example, in the text I Will Not Get Out of Heart Yet, it states that Soldiers shot in
the arm or leg on the battlefield were highly likely to develop potentially fatal infections, and the
only way to prevent a painful death was to cut off the damaged body part. Despite this fact,
prostheticswere extremely uncomfortable to wear and were considered crude contraptions and
were usually made of wood or steel that were awkward and painful to wear. Many soldiers did not
like having prosthetic limbs, as they were uncomfortable to wear and awkward to move around with.

The Music Of Rock Roll
Introduction
I love Rock Roll. So, put another dime in the jukebox baby. (Joan Jett). Still like that old time
Rock Roll. That kind of music just soothes the soul, I reminisce about the days of old, with that
old time Rock Roll. (Bob Segar). You show us everything you ve got. You keep on dancin and the
room gets hot. You drive us wild, we ll drive you crazy. (KISS).
Music is the art of combining vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) to produce beauty of form,
harmony and expression of emotion and it has always been an integral part of American culture.
People of any race, age or social class can enjoy music as a popular form of entertainment. There are
many different kinds of music, but Rock Roll is one of the biggest and most popular. Rock Roll
began as a mixture of blues and country music and has been ever evolving while spawning
numerous additional genres that share its roots. Many of today s megahit artists have credited their
style and success to the trailblazers of the early commercial music scene. From dive bars to huge
arenas, most artists are out to accomplish the same thing: to tell a story.
During the 1950 s, the relationship between whites and blacks was weak, but the music was going
strong. There was diversity in music with performers singing blues, country, and classical music,
however, the majority of the performers were black. With the existence of dramatic racial barriers,
audiences were segregated and small. Many white owned

Pharmacist Goals
Persuading pharmacy as a career will help me complete my life goals on understanding
medications, contributing to the general public, and setting up the first stone for my future
career in pharmacy field. I have started a strong interest in understanding medication since I was
in middle school. Once at night time when I was a kid, I had a fever and my dad, who used to
work as a nurse, gave me a tablet and told me to drink it. The relief feeling was impressive. A
small magic tablet could be so impactful. It is my first feeling about how powerful an effective
medication works. Why don t we have medications to cure cancer? That was my question to
myself when I came to visit my cousin on his last days. That pale face of soulless, sorrow, and...

As a hard working, organized, and motivated person, I had achieved several goals of my life.
Migrated to the States in 2012 with no background in English, I learned and improved my
English while I was working in Wendy s restaurant. After having enough basic English, I started
to come to Montgomery college with an English as second language level to start my education.
Keeping focusing on my purpose of being a pharmacist, I concentrate on school works while I
am working part time job to gain experience in my major. To become a pharmacy technician, I
had to walk in almost twenty different CVS stores to ask the pharmacists in charge and applied
on line at the same times. That applying process took a half year to finally achieve my goal of
being a pharmacy technician. With a Bachelor in Science that I gained in Vietnam, I had a solid
background in science subjects before I start my education in the United states. Finally, working in
CVS as a pharmacy technician, I can learn and absorb skills in the pharmacy fields while working
with pharmacy crew team and different pharmacist. Hard working, organizing, dedication, and

Landlord and Tenant Law
PA303
Unit 1 Written Assignment
February 7, 2012
What Are The Rewards of Becoming A Landlord? Owning rental property offers many financial
and lifestyle benefits. The number one reward and benefit of being a landlord and having rental
property is you own the property. As long as you are not breaking the law in the process, it is yours
to live in, enjoy, freely and rent to whomever you chose as long as you follow the law and do it
legally.
Many have amassed a fortune in property rental. Even in this economy, if you hold onto your
property long enough, it will almost always appreciate in value. It can be a guaranteed way to ...

Most first time landlords still have full time jobs and may find it difficult to handle both. Even
though being a landlord does not have to be a full time job, depending on your resources, it will
take more than a few hours a week to do the job. Most landlords need to be reachable and available
24 hours a day, to attend to or answer some form of emergent problem or non emergent problem
from their tenants (i.e. a pipe burst, the lights went out or a loud and unruly neighbor/tenant).
This brings you, the potential land, to the problems with tenants. Problem tenants can be one of
the unfortunate problems and facts of owning rental property. There will always be a possibility
that a landlord will get the tenant from Hell , someone who either doesn t pay the rent or doesn t
pay rent on time, who destroys the property or who call and bugs the landlord continuously for just
about anything. A proper background check or screening process will help eliminate some
problematic tenants. However, a properly executed lease or rental agreement will probably help
deal with most annoying tenants.
There may be times when the landlord experiences problems with leasing their apartments, such as
in a recession, a soft market or a modest/bad economy which can and does not exclude the best of
real estate investors/landlords. However, realistically, vacancies for a landlord will are a reality no

Why I Am Grateful For Rowing
Why I am Grateful for Rowing
When I first joined the Texas Rowing Center, I had no idea that six months later my life would
revolve around rowing. At first, I was extremely apprehensive, because I knew that committing to
rowing would mean giving up over ten hours of precious time a week to make space for practice.
However, the decision has paid off in innumerable ways, including the fact that rowing practice is
now the highlight of every day.
Rowing has helped me make new friends. Before I joined rowing, almost all of my friends were
from school. Now I have another way to connect with lots of people, some of whom have become
great friends. One example of a wonderful friend I have made on crew is my friend Hannah. We are

Although I can run three miles pretty fast, and I wanted to race the other fast people on my
team, I decided to stick with the slow group and help them get motivated instead. I hated having
to walk half the way, but it was helpful for me to experience a leader. I had to practice a lot of
patience. I was also elected team co captain, which means I have a lot of organizational
responsibilities as well. I feel like Abbey, our coach, really respects me as a leader in the group. I
am so thankful for the chance to lead my peers somewhere other than at school. Being in a different
environment leading different people presents a whole new set of challenges and benefits.
Rowing forces me to challenge myself and push my boundaries. I am especially grateful for
Abbey pushing me. She never lets me take the easy way out. If she weren t there, I would
probably not try as hard and not improve as much. When I erg all by myself, it s really hard to
get motivated, but whenever I erg at practice I always want to show Abbey how well I can do.
Even when I think I m doing my best, she always tells me to go harder and drop my split lower,
and I always find that I can. Rowing has made me work harder than I thought possible, push
farther than I believed I could, and hurt more than I thought I could take. Through all that, I am
constantly inspired to push harder every day of practice. I love to get in the boat and get started,
and every new workout just makes me want to

Essay On LDL
2.METHODOLOGY
The current examination was to discover the impact of yogic practices and aerobic training on
low density lipoprotein (LDL) among middle aged women. To get the reason for this research,
45 middle aged women were randomly chosen as subjects. Their age was 35 and 45 years.
Subjects were teachers of various schools in Ananthapuramu, Andhra Pradesh, India and,
consequently, there was no distinction in the patterns of daily life, and was later well thought
out as a standardized group. They chose isolated subjects in 2 experimental groups and one control
group with 15 subjects in each (n = 15). Experimental Group I (YPG) undergoes yoga practices,

Happiness Is A Long And Confusing One
The journey to find true happiness is a long and confusing one. Many people have sought the
answer to the question of what is true happiness, but have found a different answer every time.
The idea of happiness is what is so addicting to the human race, even if they have no idea how to
get it or where to find it. Happinessbecomes something that seems almost impossible to get as
we live, because as we search for it we try to find it in the things other people tell us it is. What
this does is begins to warp what we know true happiness is; However, the moments in life when we
are at our lowest and desperate we begin to try anything to achieve happiness. Happiness is not
something that can be found by hunting it down like some animal.... Show more content on

Differences And Similarities Between Pulitzer And Joseph...
In America the President reigns for four years, and journalism governs for ever and ever. Oscar
Wilde never spoke truer words. The aforementioned ability to govern for ever and ever comes from
journalistic sensationalism, a craft perfected by newspaper owners and journalists Joseph Pulitzer
and William Randolph Hearstat the dawn of the twentieth century. Sensationalism counts for only
one of the numerous ties between the career rivals who, in an effort to distinguish themselves from
each other, ironically knotted themselves together in journalism history. Joseph Pulitzeremigrated to
the United States of America from Hungary at the age of seventeen and subsequently joined the
Union army of the U.S. Civil War. After the war, Carl

Helped in large part by owning an established newspaper fresh out of college, Hearst worked his
way up the small portion of proverbial ladder Hearst had yet to climb in the journalism world by
purchasing The New York Morning Journal. Coincidentally, Hearst purchased The New York
Morning Journal from Pulitzer s soon to be estranged brother Albert (Therkelsen 7) and renamed
the paper The Journal ( William, Sidelights). Hearst s first took his first notorious step with his
pilfering of all of Pulitzer s editorial staff at the New York World, followed by Pulitzer s rehiring,
and Hearst s second theft of the same journalists (Contemporary, Joseph ). Pulitzer, as the originator
of the colorful comics section in newspapers, made sure to keep The Yellow Kid comic strip in the
New York World newspaper despite losing the original designer in Pulitzer s continuing battle with
Hearst (Squires). The fact that the battle went deep enough into the newspapers to affect the comics
section helped historians coin the term yellow journalism as an idiom for how Hearst and Pulitzer
ran their respective newspapers (Therkelsen 7). This immature feud between the two grown men
may sound harmless, but accusations surfaced suggesting this quarrel may have caused the Spanish
American War. Without any official word from government organizations, Hearst and Pulitzer both
published unconfirmed sensationalistic

How America s High Tech Sweatshops could lead to Brain Drain in the tech industry
Economic globalization has created an international skilled labor race, where developed countries,
compete for best and brightest human capital to advance their economies. By utilizing selective
immigration policies, these economically advanced countries target highly educated, and skilled
labor in foreign countries to meet their changing economic needs. The United States is no different
and has utilized special guest worker programs to strengthen its workforce. These guest worker
programs have sparked a host of controversial debates, especially during the 2016 presidential

been hiring a large number of cheaper skilled labor from India. These skilled laborers are often

many proposed legislations to revamp the program in order to better protect American
workers.[footnoteRef:4] It is undeniable that domestically, the protections of American workers
need to be prioritized, but a hidden dimension to the debate is the potential for a massive exodus of
foreign workers since; the current U.S. climate and legislation, mainly through the current president

Pros And Cons Of A Cocktail Before 21
A Cocktail Before 21? In America a minor is determined as an adult when they reach the age of
eighteen. At the age of eighteen, one has many decisions to make. One decision they can make
is to choose whether or not to break the law about the legal drinking age. In many countries at
the age of eighteen, one may legally drink alcohol unlike in America the legal age to drink
alcohol is twenty one. In Keeping Legal Drinking Age At 21 Saves 900 Lives Yearly: Study,
Bahar Gholipour opposes lowering the drinking age. Studies conducted since 2006 provided
evidence for researchers to conclude that laws maintaining the legal drinking age at twenty one,
has lowered the rates of drunk driving deaths. Gholipour provides the statistic of ... the number
of fatally injured drunk drivers decreased by 57 percent among those ages of sixteen to twenty....
Researchers have also sustained evidence that shows the current drinking age has not lead to an
increase of binge drinking within the teen population. Gholipour quotes, William Dejong, study
researcher: The evidence is clear that there would be consequences if we lowered the legal
drinking age. Having a higher drinking age has lead to mainly positive effects, such as, less
alcohol consumption by youths and less alcohol related traffic crashes. According to Gholipour
Keeping the legal drinking age at twenty one saves 900 lives yearly. Being able to save 900 lives
yearly is a lot, until it is compared to the population of America

  • 2. The Role Of Parenthood In Jodi Picoult s Nineteen Minutes In nineteen minutes, you can mow the front lawn, color your hair, watch a third of a hockey game. You can bake scones or get a tooth filled by a dentist.... Or, as Peter Houghton knows... in nineteen minutes, you can bring the whole world to a screeching halt (Picoult 363). In Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult, Peter had been bullied his whole life, and he wanted revenge. Peter felt the only way to get revenge was to pull the trigger towards classmates and teachers. Nineteen Minutes takes place in a small town known as Sterling. In Sterling, everybody knows everybody. You stop at an intersection, and you know the person stopped next to you. You see your neighbors at the grocery store, and your teacher at Olive Garden. So obviously, everyone in the small town knew Peter and his family. Could you imagine the looks Peter s parents receive from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They can t imagine their son doing something so terrible. They feel out of place when they get their groceries now, like every eye is on them. Lacy and Lewis think they have completely failed at parenthood, and it is secretly eating both of them up internally. Conflict was created between Peter and his parents. Peter did not meet the standards his deceased brother held. Peter s parents were disappointed in the difference between sons. To adulterate Peter s situation, he was constantly bullied by classmates in and out of school. One day Peter could not handle it anymore, and the last string of the braided rope broke. The conflict Peter was struggling with himself was impossible to conquer without support from others, and Peter never truly had the support he needed to thrive. Peter was suffering from post traumatic stress disorder as a result of chronic victimization. Peter had a foggy ending, which made it seem like the bullying would never stop, so he figured he was the one who had to stop ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Interrelationship Between The Overcoat And Gogol The interrelationship between The Overcoat, written by Nikolai Gogol, and Gogol, written by Jhumpa Lahiri, may not be apparent at first, but with the help of My Two Lives, also written by Jhumpa Lahiri, one can see that both The Overcoat and Gogol are connected by ties that hold them together. Although Gogol and the speaker in My Two Lives share similar backgrounds and can directly relate to each other, Akaky can also connect to Lahiri and Gogol because all they all yearn for acceptance from those around them. One point of comparison is the practice of naming connects Akaky, from The Overcoat, and Gogol together by having similar practices. Another similarity between all three works is that each main character questions their identity, eventually overcoming their struggle of being seen as different. Both Akaky Akakiyevich, and Gogol Ganguli live in cultures where their nameshave substantial meaning. Although the way that a person is named differs from culture to culture, the naming process has similar characteristics. Readers can infer from both The Overcoat and Gogol that names in Russian and Bengali have significant meaning and helps shape who the person is when they grow older. However, one thing that varies greatly between these two cultures is when they are named and how many names they have. In Russian culture, the name is picked after the baby is born, in which the mother or elders give the child a name and hope that he or she will live up to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Aristophanes Voices Concerns for Ancient Greek Culture in... Aristophanes was not a proponent of the majority of Athenian culture, as well as other aspects of Greek life as whole. He despised the political, educational, and societal views that remained persistent throughout Athens. While his plays may be comedies, he uses them in an assortment of ways. His plays are used to demonstrate a purpose far beyond that of entertainment. He uses his writing for voicing the problems that lie in Ancient culture. Aristophanes uses each play to reveal certain issues that he felt should have been dealt with. His plays featured satire, farces, and even comical dialogue. His plays were written with clarity and were quite lyrical. Using plays as vessels for opinion is defined best by saying that The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He creates a private and individual peace treaty with the Spartans, and he finally receives his peace. His land and his home become war free (The Acharnians, lines 195 204). The Acharnians were appalled that Dikaiopolis had signed a peace treaty. They form a mob and head to his home. There, they insult him and they threaten his life. But the whole time this is going on, Dikaiopolis is mocking them. He is insulting them because of how foolish they really are. Dikaiopolis doesn t understand why they want to fight so much. He takes every opportunity to advocate their stupidity by comically refuting their actions toward him and his family. Dikaiopolis says, Comedy too can sometimes discern what is right. I shall not please, but I shall say what is true, (The Acharnians, lines 500 501). He means that he is going to say whatever he feels is right, and in the end, no matter what actions the Acharnians take, there isn t anything they can do to stop him from laughing at what they do. Aristophanes uses Dikaiopolis as an agent of conveyance. The Peloponnesian War had devastated the Greek world in the 5th century (Perry, pg. 70), and this play was written to solidify Aristophanes agreement with this statement. By choosing the Acharnians for this play, he chose a people that the Athenians could relate to; a beaten down group of individuals whose only hopes of regaining pride rested in their efforts to win the war. When Al Davis moved the Oakland Raiders to Los Angeles, he pulled away from some of sport s most loyal fans and also hurt his football team. The NFL s Colts and Cardinals have also had failures on the field since their moves. These three teams are proof that all the greed that was put into the moving of their franchises hasn t brought them more success or in some cases less success. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;In every move there are two sides to the politics. There are the teams themselves and there are the cities that fight to keep them. In May 1991, Sharon Pratt Dixon, Mayor of Washington, D.C. said, We re going to do whatever it takes to keep the Redskins here. Sports has become an industry, and to the extent that we can guarantee jobs for the District residents, we will do whatever it takes, including building the stadium ourselves (Euchner 1), this is one view of how a city official fights for a team. Gallipoli was one major fundamental factor in our culture. When you look back into the history of Australia at war you ll hear Anzacs and diggers a lot. These names all came from one war and in fact one battle. Anzac stands for the Australian New Zealand army corps. The term diggers comes from soldiers continually digging trenches, holes and bunkers to sleep in and take cover during an artillery duel. The term has remained with us for over 90 years. They seized ten metres of trench at a place called Courtney s Post, but Australians at either end stopped them from continuing to advance. At the northern end Jacka, with several of his mates, tried to get rid the Turkish at the post, but were beaten back. It was then decided that while a feint attack was made from the one end, Jacka would attack from behind. Jacka s mates waited long enough for Jacka to circle in behind and then threw two bombs and gave covering fire. Jacka leapt over the parapet, shot five Turkish soldiers with his rifle, bayonetted two others and forced the rest to flee the captured trench. This technique is based on the assembly of separate tissue cores on a paraffin block, which may contain up to 1000 cores. TMA can be used for several purposes, in which the detection of protein is the most common. In fact, most Christians have probably said a form of minor exorcism prayer since the Our Father is considered to be one. There are three main forms of exorcism that is practiced within the Anglican Church: exorcism of objects, places and people. Objects Almost any object, other than a holy one, can be infested. Places Some examples of the cause of unwanted activity within a place, according to the Exorcism: The Findings of a Commission Convened by the Bishop of Exeter, include souls of the departed, human sin, place memories, poltergeist and demonic interference. People If a person requires an exorcism, the most important thing to keep in mind is the safety of the person affected and the safety of those around. A thorough psychological examination should always be conducted first to rule out any natural underlying causes for the symptoms present. If it is found to be a likely case of ... • 15. My Lost Vacation One of the best vacations I have been on is when I went to Las Vegas, Nevada, becuase it s one out of the two vacations I ve ever been on. I went on this trip with my mom and my dad. This was the first time my parents and I have been to Vegas. One of the main reasons we went to Vegas was for the Motocross Championships. We left early in the morning at 5:00 am to make out flight in Cedar Rapids. We flew to Denver, Colorado and then flew from Denver to Las Vegasarriving sometime in the middle of the day. When we got to Las Vegas we went to get a car rental. We met this cool guy that we rented the car from because he gave us a good deal by giving us a mid size car rental but only charging us for a compact size car. After we got our car rental we went to go eat at the Mexican restaurant. This Mexican restaurant looked like this old beat down little building but was a bomb restaurant. This Mexican restaurant was one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten at. It was amazingly delicious. After all our bellies were full we decided to go see the Vegas strip where all the famous buildings and places were. Later after we were done exploring we went back to our resort and wandered around, then went to bed. The time schedule was different so we were staying up till about 2 in the morning from Vegas, but about 12 pm in Iowa. The next morning we wake up and go downstairs and get a cup of Starbucks coffee. After we got our coffee we would go hang out by the pool outside or I would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even before they could speak properly , primitives use dance and small rituals as a way of enterteinment. However, now, in the higly technology developed world we live, every day there are more various and modern options to do in our free time but, at the same time all changes and becomes dull too fast. This puts theatrein a really fragile position and makes us wonder if it will become out of style or if, on the contrary, as this essay will proof, it will still be relevant and up to date for the next generations. According to The Telegraph, Great BritainВґs theatre audiences decreased a 9 percent between 2010 and 2012, and the rates are only diminishing. Baz Luhrmann s Presentation of Romeo and Juliet to a Modern Audience In this essay, I will be comparing the way the 400 years old William Shakespeare s film Romeo and Juliet was transformed by Baz luharmann for the understanding of the modern audience. Romeo and Juliet was written by William Shakespeare 400 years ago. In the past plays were acted in the theatre. The plays were totally different from the way they are now. The theatre had a stage where the play was to be acted; this had an entrance and an exit. There was no lighting and no scenery; there was also a balcony on the first floor where some scenes were acted. Below the stage was where the audience stood to watch the play. There were... At the top right corner of the screen there is a picture of a broken ring and below it are these words; star crossed lovers . This illustrates that there is love and a broken relationship between two lovers in the film. Also the broken ring suggests that the lovers relationship will be but a short one as it is destined to end in tragedy. Also there is dramatic operatic music at the background; it suggests the film will most likely be a tragedy as is often seen in grand operas. The Prologue is delivered again. This is very different from the first time; it contains flashes of scenes in the film / informative clips. This prologue has a voiceover of Friar. He is the perfect person for this job because he knows the story from the start to the end. The clips are very informative. The two towers with the names MONTAGUE AND CAPULET suggest wealth and probably business rivalry, which a modern audience would understand. It also shows they are both well to do families. • 18. Rhode Island Business Plan Competition 2. Literature Review Research shows that business plan competitions throughout time have always provided a substantial opportunity to improve entrepreneurial education. Student entrepreneurs originally were interested in business plan competitions because it was a place for them to create and pitch their business ideas to real investors and get incredible feedback. However, over time, the location of the competitions, the people competing in the competitions, the robustness of business plans, and the outcome of the competition have changed. These four factors affect each other and have changed how people go about growing as entrepreneurs. 2.1 Business Plan Competition Locations More and more business plan competitions have been popping up all over the world in the past ten years. A 2006 survey of 2,100 universities by the Kauffman Foundation shows that 16 percent of universities were offering business plan competitions around the world; so today in 2016 I am sure that percentage has increased (Leffel and Hallum 2008). The United States has some of the better known business plan competitions, such as the Rhode Island Business Plan Competition. While many are open to international entrepreneurs, most depend on one s location or affiliation to a university which is limiting. My Passion For Architectural Design I have always had a passion for being practical for as long as I can remember, I often sought pleasure from helping my parents build dreaded flat pack furniture. Over the years this passion for being practical and building things has just developed into a love for structures and especially in the last few I have been able to hone my passion down to architecture. What could be greater than wanting to design these great edifices and seeing your design built for people to integrate into part of the lives. My application to your university derives from my eagerness to study at one of the best universities in the UK and from my desire to create well designed spaces that are both practical and gratifying to the eye. It also hopes to ensure a satisfaction for my passion for practicality, my appreciation of architecture and hopefully in the future it should secure me a place among some of the architectural greats. As a designer, I am constantly studying the world around me and looking at ways in which I can change and mould it to make it more appealing and suitable for the tasks we undertake in our everyday lives. This is reflected in my Extended Project Qualification that I completed earlier this year which looks into the influence of architecture on human behaviour and how this compelling link between the health and satisfaction of the human body that is largely determined by the fundamental design of buildings can often be ignored by many of the architectural designers today. ... Categorizations of fantasy have tended to avoid discussions of race, in part because it is an uncomfortable gray area since fantasy literature does not yet have a clear taxonomy. It was not until the 1960s that audiences saw their first black character in The Falcon. In the years after that, characters of different races were few and far between. They are more compact and less explicit than finite clauses. They are not marked for tense and modality, and they frequently lack an explicit subject and subordinator. (17): I don t know what to write about. 3.1.1 Types of non finite clauses 1 Bare infinitive Bare infinitive is the base form of the verb without to, this form of nonfinite clause has no tense. The bare infinitive in general is very limited because it mostly occurs after verbs of causation, perception and modal auxiliary. (18): I saw Jim leave. (See is a verb of perception) (19): I can tell the truth. (Telling the truth is what occurs after modal auxiliary. Bare infinitive in this case, functions as the complement of a verb, that is , it adds more information to make the main verb understandable. (Biber, Johansson, Leech, Conrad, Finegan, 1999). 2 Infinitive clauses Uninflected infinitive forms which comprise simply the base or stem of the verb with no added inflection (such forms are frequently used after the so called infinitive particle to) Infinitive clauses can have a range of syntactic roles a subject (20): The best thing would be for you to tell everybody. b without subject (21): The best thing would be to tell everybody. c Direct object (22): He upset you very much, and I hate to see that. After the mass amount of life lost in World War One, many countries, through the League of Nations, opted to prevent future conflict. Due to the failure collective security, the idea that countries could discourage aggression, appeasement became a policy adopted in the 1930s, especially by the British. Appeasement was developed in the belief that countries such as Germany were unfairly treated in the Treaty of Versailles. It was used in hope to prevent Germany and Italy going to war. Appeasement was seen to be magnanimous, good business, idealistic and a form of security. The policy of appeasement was widely pursued by Britain and France in the 1930s, refers to attempting to satisfy Germany s demands by negotiation and compromise in order to avoid another war. However due to its failure, the policy of appeasement, to a large extent was responsible for the outbreak of war in 1939. It is clear that if the Western Powers had retaliated against Hitler, war could have been avoided. Despite large extent the policy of appeasement in the outbreak of war it is superseded by other factors as well. • 36. Puritan Influence On New England Starting in the early 1600s, the first significant non Spanish colonizers began finding their way to the coasts north of the where the Christopher Columbus had first appeared in North America, mainly in hopes of practicing their own religion without persecution and in search of a fresh start in the New World. Left and right in England, Puritans and other Protestant religions faced discrimination by royal authorities, and they were determined to have a place where they were free to worship how they pleased. Still others saw this opportunity as a way to rise economically. Eventually, as new charters were issued and an increasing amount of people began to arrive and settle, the original thirteen colonies were formed, the last established in the... In New England, due to the surrounding terrain and poor weather of New England, people lived in tight knit towns, shortening the traveling distance in times of hazardous conditions and relying on each other for different services. There was a heavy Puritan presence, and in these towns, the church often lay in the middle, easily accessible and central to people s lives. In the start, the Puritans envisioned what lawyer John Winthrop had called a city on a hill from which they would spread religious righteousness. However, this passion was somewhat diluted over time as the population rose and education became more widespread among New England s children. Also, there was a long life expectancy up to 70 years! which was aided by the healthy climate, which in turn helped lead to more family stability. However, in the Southern colonies, the same closeness that was apparent in the North wasn t present. Due to the fact that many men died young in the south, women were often left to tend to families on their own. Especially in the Chesapeake bay, many women bore children out of wedlock. This gender disparity even led to a level of property rights for women during the time, whereas in the north, that was usually not the case. Towns and cities took a long time to form due to the sheer space available, and the spaces between plantations meant that schools and churches were expensive projects. And while the southern colonists were religious as well, leaning more towards the Anglican church, it was a less central aspect of their lives. On top of all of this, the agricultural economy of the south led to a tightening grip on a heavily classed society. Slaves were considered the lowest of low, while the previously mentioned aristocrats, plantation owners, and merchants at the top held a considerable amount of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My First Solo Travel My First Solo Travel: A Series of Unfortunate Events Tired of friends canceling the last minute, tired of waiting for the right time, tired of promising myself I will travel solo soon , I got fed up and finally took the plunge into the world of solo travel. So when a long vacation came, I decided to go on a 3 day camping vacation alone. And the destination? The beautiful Masasa beach located on the little island of Tingloy, Batangas. I packed my bags, did my research, informed friends my itinerary (you know, safety first) and went out my way. But the romantic solo getaway that I was dreaming of wasn t what I got. Forms of prosthetics date way back to the Civil War, and has made a lot of progress throughout the years. During the Civil War, many soldiers would have to be amputated everyday to save their lives. For example, in the text I Will Not Get Out of Heart Yet, it states that Soldiers shot in the arm or leg on the battlefield were highly likely to develop potentially fatal infections, and the only way to prevent a painful death was to cut off the damaged body part. Despite this fact, prostheticswere extremely uncomfortable to wear and were considered crude contraptions and were usually made of wood or steel that were awkward and painful to wear.
