Jane Eyre lived as an orphan and was sent to Lowood School after her uncle's death. She became the governess of Adèle Varens at Thornfield Hall, where she met and fell in love with the owner, Mr. Rochester. Their wedding was stopped when it was revealed Rochester already had a wife. Jane ran away but later reunited with Rochester after his wife died in a fire at Thornfield Hall. They married and lived happily ever after with their child.
