1. Jamaica Emergency Youth Programme
Plan of Action
Pre-amble : The Jamaica Emergency Youth Programme (JEYP) seeks to avoid
perpetuating or reinforcing the marginalization of young people and confronting
society stigmatization of young people as deviant, criminal and incapable. This
Programme will maximize the positive impact of policies and/or projects upon
young people and undoubtedly empower young people.
Mission Statement:
The Jamaica Emergency Youth Programme hopes to create a sense of security and
safety in the lives of young people. Develop critical thinking and civic
responsibility. Expand self-knowledge and a positive self-identity. Raise
achievement levels in technology, employability and life skills.
Motto: One hand can’t clap; we need the youths to make it happen!
Objectives
JEYP will work with youths between the ages of 6 and 24 and focus on
• Strong personal growth programming
• Career Explorers
• Experiential Learning Workshops
• Homework Hotspots
• Civic duties
Strong Personal Growth Programming
Youths will be provided opportunities designed to help them achieve positive
sense of self, sense of community and stronger success skills. Through internal
external awards systems, team working, leadership and conflict resolution
initiatives.

2. Career Explorers
Youths will be exposed to a variety of possible career fields through interactive
field trips and guest speakers. The youths will keep an electronic portfolio with
their personal interest areas and offerings shall be made to them whenever an
opportunity surfaces.
Experiential Learning Workshops
Workshops will be administered monthly and comprise of standard driven and
technology –infused interactive learning project. Subsequently, youths will
improve their mastery of technology and life skills, while advancing their reading
and math skills.
Homework Hotspots
Students can study and complete their school assignments. Members will offer
one-on-one support and group support as needed, while monitoring the students’
overall progress.
Civic duties
Youths will learn to develop a deep sense of pride in their country,
Jamaica and subsequently gravitate to various activities promoted by it.
For example, participating in both the local and general elections.
