This document discusses source code escrow as a way to protect end users of software products. It involves three parties - the supplier, end user, and escrow agent. The supplier provides the end user with the object code for the initial software product and any new releases, as well as ongoing maintenance through source code access. However, the source code is placed into escrow with the escrow agent. If the supplier ceases product maintenance or goes out of business, the escrow agent will release the source code to the end user to ensure continuity of their business operations.

Windows phone 8 enterprise and Mobile Device Managment by Andrej Radinger (mdm)mgligorovski
The document discusses Windows Phone 8 and its capabilities for use in enterprises. It covers three main topics:
1) Windows Phone applications can be distributed privately within an enterprise without needing approval from the Windows Store. Enterprises have control over application deployment and lifecycles.
2) Enterprises can manage Windows Phone 8 devices to varying degrees, from fully "unmanaged" bring your own devices to fully "managed" devices that can be remotely controlled.
3) Features of managed vs unmanaged devices are compared, with managed devices offering more controls like policy management, application management, and remote data deletion for the enterprise.

“Wearables” is the watchword of the latest consumer tech trend, and it’s a category poised to explode. Morgan Stanley predicts that Apple will sell between 30 and 60 million Apple Watches in the first full 12 months it’s available. Health, fitness, banking, geo-information, communication, payments, all manner of notifications — the possibilities are broad and exciting. The market will soon be crowded with players trying to grab “share of wrist.”
And as is always the case, the early winners will be the biggest winners. But as is also the case, these are technologies that require testing and monitoring to ensure an outstanding user experience.
The good news is that the technology is ready now to test and monitor wearable applications and notifications with Keynote’s patented technology to ensure apps’ functionality and performance.
The document describes a trip tracking system that allows users to share their real-time location with friends and family members for safety and tracking purposes during trips. The system uses GPS and geolocation APIs to track and update the user's location every few seconds. It is intended to help parents keep track of their children and reduce stress and anxiety during trips. The proposed system would allow users to start sharing their location via email and send notifications when trips begin and end. It also provides directions and estimated time of arrival to destinations. The document discusses the technical feasibility, economic feasibility, and operational feasibility of the system and outlines its objectives, proposed design, flow chart, and conclusions from developing the tracking application.

Mobile Security - 2015 Wrap-up and 2016 PredictionsSkycure
If you still think Mobile Security is a thing of the future--think again. Millions of mobile devices worldwide were exposed in 2015 to vulnerabilities and advanced cyber-attacks including: No iOS Zone, XcodeGhost, Stagefright and SwiftKey to name just a few. Given 2015’s ultra-active cyber-risk front, we are sure 2016 has much more in store. In this webinar, Yair Amit, CTO and Co-founder at Skycure, wraps-up the state of mobile security in 2015 and shares his predictions for 2016.

DroidCon 2015 - Building Secure Android Apps For The Enterprise Kareem ElSayyed
I'm delighted to be at DroidCon this year and I hope you enjoy my session on building secure android apps for the enterprise.
Developing apps for enterprise can be a challenge as enterprise grade applications are more than just App code. Enterprise Apps operate in a container of their own where security is a forethought not bolted on, naturally connect to corporate assets which resides behind the firewall thus Protecting Data-at-Rest on mobile devices and Securing Data-in-transport from/to mobile devices become inevitable. Enterprise apps are manageable, deployed not downloaded and controlled by corporate IT rules and policies.
In this session, we will walk you through the four pillars of enterprise app development and how BlackBerry® Enterprise Service 12 (BES12) provides the most secure and flexible way(s) to manage Android apps on all android smartphones and tablets regardless of how enterprises choose to manage Android devices – Android for work, Samsung KNOX or Secure Work Space (SWS).

Developing Mobile Apps for Performance - Swapnil Patel, Verizon MediaYahoo Developer Network
This document discusses developing mobile apps for performance. It emphasizes that user perceived latency, stability, and battery life matter most to users. A key performance indicator is cold app launch time, which should be under 2 seconds to keep users happy. Measuring app performance is challenging as it needs to account for different devices, networks, and conditions. The document recommends reducing network calls to load the home screen faster by fetching content in the user's viewpoint with a single endpoint and network call.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

HCL Notes and Domino License Cost Reduction in the World of DLAUpanagenda
Webinar Recording: https://www.panagenda.com/webinars/hcl-notes-and-domino-license-cost-reduction-in-the-world-of-dlau/
The introduction of DLAU and the CCB & CCX licensing model caused quite a stir in the HCL community. As a Notes and Domino customer, you may have faced challenges with unexpected user counts and license costs. You probably have questions on how this new licensing approach works and how to benefit from it. Most importantly, you likely have budget constraints and want to save money where possible. Don’t worry, we can help with all of this!
We’ll show you how to fix common misconfigurations that cause higher-than-expected user counts, and how to identify accounts which you can deactivate to save money. There are also frequent patterns that can cause unnecessary cost, like using a person document instead of a mail-in for shared mailboxes. We’ll provide examples and solutions for those as well. And naturally we’ll explain the new licensing model.
Join HCL Ambassador Marc Thomas in this webinar with a special guest appearance from Franz Walder. It will give you the tools and know-how to stay on top of what is going on with Domino licensing. You will be able lower your cost through an optimized configuration and keep it low going forward.
These topics will be covered
- Reducing license cost by finding and fixing misconfigurations and superfluous accounts
- How do CCB and CCX licenses really work?
- Understanding the DLAU tool and how to best utilize it
- Tips for common problem areas, like team mailboxes, functional/test users, etc
- Practical examples and best practices to implement right away
Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:
