Innovative IT Solutions: Supporting Change and Creativity
1. Project
Section 1
‘Innovation, creativity, enterprise and entrepreneurship are the vogue words of the millennium’ (Handy
1999:11), but these are only words. They require individuals or groups of people able to deliver them.
Entrepreneurship can be described as ‘the process of creating or seizing an opportunity and pursuing it
regardless of the resources currently controlled’, while an entrepreneur is perhaps ‘one who destroys
the or by exploiting new raw materials’ (Falbe and Larwood 1995).
It may also be said that entrepreneurs are the organizers of uncertainty because they recognize and
seize opportunities that results from uncertainties. This relates directly to the commonly used
expression, ‘in today’s world of work the only certainty is change’.
Entrepreneurs all have one thing in common – creativity – the ability to create something out of their
own imagination. This has always been a crucial part of progress. There is no time to build gradually and
test new products and services: quick results and high expectations epitomise the needs of management
today (Fleming 1988: 4). Flexible organizations, therefore, match creative and innovative solutions to
environmental conditions and to opportunities.
In approximately 3,000 words, discuss these ideas and their importance, in terms of your organization
and its attitude toward change, innovation and creativity.
Section 2
Answer the following questions
• Do you have a workplace culture that supports innovation?
• Do you have a system for acknowledging and rewarding new and creative ideas?
- If you do, then explain the processes and procedures which support it.
- If you do not, then develop some strategies for implementing processes and procedures to
support innovation and change.
The ideas presented in your answers much be logically sequenced, relevant to the topic and should
provide evidence of wider reading. Quotations and references should be correctly cited in the text, with
a complete reference list, in alphabetical order (Harvard referencing system) supplied at the end.
Your paper should have a clear introduction, followed by the content of your argument, and a clear
conclusion. Statements should be justified, supported and explained using evidence from writers who
are considered to be authorities on the subject or by using workplace examples.
2. In order to successfully complete this assessment you will need to do some reading of your own.

Recommendation:
Every company has customers, and every company should maintain some basic
information about those customers such as names, addresses, purchases, contracts,
invoices, etc. Therefore every company should have at least some basic "CRM
Technology" to track and serve their customers. Even small businesses use Outlook,
Quicken or other applications for this purpose. If you use Microsoft Outlook for your
daily communications, calendaring, tasks and appointments and need a way to track
sales leads and opportunities, to share data across sales representatives, to improve
the understanding of your sales process, to communicate with a broad groups of people
on a one to one basis, to improve your business process in the most important area –
sales, and need a reporting system that beats multiple excel spreadsheets, the
complete resolution for this problem is CRM solution.
Customer Relationship Management Software to most people means a program that
helps manage customer information. This is true; but the same can be said of other
types of programs. There are three basic groups of customer management software.
The first group being Contact Management which allows businesses the ability to
organize and manage their customers and accounts, track all the associated
communication and events, and perform follow ups. The second group is Sales Force
Automation (SFA) which includes all the abilities of Contact Management and adds
features to track sales opportunities, review all related correspondence and events, and
report on the sales pipeline and related data.
Customer Relationship Management Software makes up the third group and provides
all the abilities of the first two as well as abilities for tracking invoices, integrating
accounting, organizing order information, and more. CRM Software typically provides
the ability to track and organize every aspect of a relationship with a customer from the
point of first identification as a lead through and beyond the point that they are an
ongoing customer.
6. Benefits of Microsoft CRM for Management:
Improved Sales Management
The sales module of the Microsoft CRM application improves lead generation and
opportunity management functions for business organizations. The software integrates
databases with customer sales and account activities with calendaring, communication
and custom reporting functions. It allows management to measure sales performance
versus expectations.
Improved Marketing Efficiency
The marketing module allows the business to create, monitor and manage a
campaign from inception through completion. Functions include contact management,
market planning, and the management and dissemination of marketing library materials.
It provides facilities for task delegation, management and analysis of marketing results.
Enhanced Customer Support
The customer support module provides the capability to build support contracts and
databases capable of supporting client requests. It features work flow procedures to
delegate and manage support tasks. Case management functionality is integrated with
messaging, using email and fax to improve customer support results.
Business Productivity Gains
The Microsoft CRM application modules interface and exchange data in order to
improve overall business productivity. Employees and teams are empowered to
collaborate and work together across the organization. Employees, vendors and
customers across geographic boundaries have access to data they need through
databases and portal websites. Business managers have access to information required
to analyze and improve customer relationship metrics and results.
Integration with Existing Microsoft Technology
Microsoft Dynamics works with existing Microsoft products, including Microsoft Office
and Outlook. Sales letters, budget spreadsheets and presentations are easily integrated
and linked within the overall CRM solution. Microsoft Dynamics integrates with and
works like the Microsoft Office products with which most users are already familiar.
Databases within Microsoft CRM can scale to Microsoft SQL Server to provide
enterprise-level custom reporting across organizational units. The compatibility with
existing technology increases the speed of adoption, decreases training and support
requirements, and allows users to focus on the work effort more quickly.
7. Risk Management Framework :
There is now greater emphasis on how risk management should be implemented and
integrated throughout an organization through the establishment and continuous
improvement of a risk management framework. The framework ensures that information
about risk derived from the risk management is adequately reported and used as a
basis for decision making and accountability at all relevant levels within the
organization.
Without a strong mandate and commitment, the risk management framework will not be
maintained. The framework design must take into account:
• Understanding of the organization’s activities and its context;
• Establishing a risk management policy;
• Defining accountabilities;
• Integration into organizational processes;
• Provision of adequate resources to maintain the framework; and
• Establishing internal and external communication and reporting mechanisms.
Following the establishment of the framework and the implementation of risk
management process within an organization, monitoring and review of risk controls is
required to provide adequate data in the continual improvement of the risk management
system.
8. Data Risk Management:
Data risk management helps organizations balance potential data risks with business
priorities, expenses and other resource constraints. Data risk management helps
organizations meet regulatory compliance mandates and reduce the impact of hackers
and malicious insiders.
A basic framework for data risk management includes:
• Data classification to locate sensitive data
• Vulnerability assessment to discover and mitigate application or systems
weaknesses
9. • User rights management to identify and remediate internal risks
Enhanced Risk Management :
The new standard provides guidance on the attributes of enhanced risk management.
These attributes represent a high level of performance in managing risk and can be
used to compare an organization’s own risk management performance. The key
attributes are:
• Continual Improvement: through the setting of performance goals against
which the organization or its managers are measured;
• Full Accountability of Tasks: designated individuals fully accept accountability,
are appropriately skilled and have adequate resources to check controls, monitor
risks, improve controls and communicate effectively about risks;
• Risk Management Application in all Decision Making: no matter the level of
importance or significance, explicit consideration of risks and risk management
needs to take place;
• Continual Communications: contact with internal and external stakeholders
including the frequent reporting of risk management performance;
• Full Integration with the Organization’s Governance Structure: the
organization’s governance structure and process should be based on the
management of risk.

12. Programmers Maintenance of the program in the system
Implementing New Technology (BACKUPS) :
The NAS (Network-attached storage) can be utilized as the networked shared storage
of VMware virtualization environments and Windows cluster servers. Comparing with
traditional SAN (Storage Area Network), the Turbo NAS is a competitive alternative with
much lower setup and maintenance costs in an IP SAN.
The Feature-rich and Integrated Applications for Business
The NAS supports file sharing across Windows, Mac, Linux, and UNIX platforms.
Versatile businesses applications such as file server, FTP server, printer server, web
server, and Windows AD support are provided. The dominant features, such as
WebDAV, Share Folder Aggregation (also known as DFS), IPv6 and IPv4 dual-stack,
Wake on LAN, schedule power on/ off, HDD S.M.A.R.T, comprehensive log systems,
and policy-based unauthorized IP blocking are all included features of a QNAP NAS
server.
• Backup the data frequently.
• If you believe there is something wrong with the computer shut it down, do not
continue to power up because you may do more damage.
• If you here a clunk, clunk sound when you power up the drive, shut down! Do
not panic nor turn the power button on and off.
• Package the drive properly when you send it in to a data recovery specialist.
You can cause additional damage to the hard drive if it is poorly packaged.
• Do not ever assume that data recovery is impossible; even in the worst cases,
such as natural disasters data recovery specialists have been able to retrieve
valuable data.
• Do not attempt data recovery with commonly available software utility programs.
BENEFITS OF Microsoft Dynamics CRM:
1. Turns Microsoft Office Outlook into the one place where you can manage both
customer data and communications.
2. Works tightly with Microsoft Office Excel so businesses can make decisions on the
fly.
3. Improves operational efficiency through the standardization and streamlining of
processes.
4. Works the way your business works with point-and-click system customization.
5. Gives the right information to the right people.
13. 6. Targets your marketing campaigns so you’re always in touch with the right
customers.
7. Simplifies service scheduling to keep customers satisfied.
8. Integrates with your existing systems to help break down information silos.
9. Enhances offline communications so everyone can be productive regardless of
location.
10. Builds on the power of SQL Server Reporting Services to create insightful business
reports.
CONCLUSION:
The biggest benefit of using Microsoft CRM is that it integrates with Microsoft Business
Solutions for Financial Management, Microsoft Office, and other systems which help to
get a complete picture of the customer.
It's important to note just how easy it is to integrate Microsoft CRM with Microsoft Office.
Because it is so easy it enables the employees to access Microsoft Dynamics CRM
right from their Microsoft Office Outlook whether they are working online or offline. It's a
great tool for your sales department and it takes little training to make it happen and
using the NAS as a backup storage server will help the company to protect all the data
in lower setup and maintenance cost.
The key benefit of NAS storage is the ability to consolidate structured and unstructured
data into a file-sharing environment that utilizes the existing IP infrastructure. Since NAS
clients rarely require any additional hardware to access data, the initial investment is
contained to the NAS array itself.
