 Besides, since usage of fingerprint is used everywhere, we

History of Fingerprint
• In Ancient China, fingerprint would become the evidence of the trial of
criminals.
• Dr. Henry Fault created the technology of fingerprint in 1882.
Functions of Fingerprint come from……
• The idea of Fingerprint is similar to “keys”
• Fingerprint is used to have personal identification.
• Detailed, unique and impossible to change

Arch Whorl Loop
 There is no backward turn
in the fingerprint.
1. Plain arches
2. Radial arches
3. Ulnar arches
4. Tented arches
 There is at least one circuit
in a turn.
1. Plan Whorl

3. Accidental Whorl
4. Double Loop Whorl
 There is re-curve, crossing
line in the fingerprint.

• Determine the pattern of the fingerprints whether it
matches the pattern of ridges and valleys in
pre-scanned images.

10. Most accurate way to record the
fingerprint
From the ultrasound waves, it can be
measured the distance between the
finger and the sensor.
There are advantages using ultrasonic
scanning: having a clean, undamaged
sensing surface.

 A charge coupled device
• Use an array of light which called photosites
• Generate inverted image of the fingerprint
 shining a bright scanning light over your fingerprint and
have a digital photograph
 The computer analyzes the image automatically
 select and use sophisticated pattern-matching software to
change them into a code.

 Measure the finger electrically
 Made up of more than one of semiconductor chips with
containing many tiny cells which are conductor plates.
 Build up a picture of the fingerprint and store a digital
image of a human fingerprint
• requires the physical presence of the human finger
• Not a high-quality of image
 Like the touchscreens on things like iPhones and iPads
