The Preface to the Lyrical Ballads is an essay, composed by William Wordsworth, for the second edition of the poetry collection Lyrical Ballads, and then greatly expanded in the third edition of 1802. It has come to be seen as a de facto manifesto of the Romantic movement.

4. Trama
Lily si è sempre chiesta perché sua madre quando suo padre la
picchiava non aveva mai chiamato la polizia ed era sicura che non
sarebbe mai voluta diventare come lei e sposare un uomo come
suo padre. Una sera seduta su un tetto incontra un uomo, un
uomo speciale che secondo lei riesce a capirla ma dopo quella
volta non lo rivede più. Erano passati 6 mesi da quell’incontro
quando durante l’apertura del suo nuovo negozio si fa male,
Alyssa, la sua dipendente, chiama suo fratello che si scopre essere
Ryle. Da quel giorno i due si innamorano fino a sposarsi e comprare
una casa insieme, Ryle però rivela a Lily di aver avuto un trauma da
bambino e ciò lo portava ad avere degli attacchi di rabbia. Gli
episodi continuano a ripetersi finché Lily non si accorge di essere
diventata esattamente come sua madre.
5. Atlas
Quando aveva 15 anni Lily si era innamorata di Atlas, un
senzatetto che viveva vicino a casa sua che aveva iniziato
ad aiutare da poco. Atlas veniva tutti i giorni a casa sua di
nascosto finché un giorno il padre di Lily non li scoprì e
picchiò a sangue Atlas. Dopo questo evento Atlas si
trasferì a Boston e Lily non ebbe più sue notizie. Dopo
molti anni Lily lo rincontrò ad un ristorante scoprendo
che fosse di sua proprietà e che Atlas fosse diventato uno
Chef stellato molto conosciuto.
6. Il trauma di ryle
Quando Ryle era molto piccolo era entrato
nella camera dei suoi genitori insieme a
suo fratello Emerson, trovando una
pistola, ma non sapendo né che fosse vera
né come usarla partì un colpo e prese in
pieno Emerson che morì appena arrivato
in ospedale. Perciò Ryle decise di
diventare un dottore.
