"Do you need to develop a business case for moving to cloud or communicate business value of your investment in AWS? This session introduces you to methods and tools to help you calculate total cost of ownership (TCO) and evaluate your business value gains from AWS.
In this session, you learn how to measure TCO and business value, and communicate a business case to organizations such as finance and procurement. You compare the costs of running your own IT infrastructure on-premises vs. on AWS and quantify intangible benefits. You also learn about resources available from AWS to help you engage in business value conversations with your organization’s leaders and what contact is available to you for further evaluation. "
It is well understood by the enterprise that cloud computing enables companies to host applications, mission critical workloads, and special projects on infrastructure that is built and managed by a third-party provider such as AWS. However, many customers find themselves having a difficult time in assigning value to the benefits of the cloud. In this session we will introduce a framework that can be used to identify the impact of moving to the cloud and the business value around areas such as cost savings, staff productivity, operational resilience, and business agility.
The business case for cloud computing goes beyond total cost of ownership (TCO). AWS helps organizations reduce time to market and time spent on undifferentiated work and improve application availability. In this chalk talk, you learn about the AWS Cloud Value Framework. This framework quantifies not only TCO savings, but also the business value of agility, risk reduction, and efficiency, which you can use in building a case for change. After this session, you should be able to describe the benefits of the cloud to different stakeholders across your organization and present a comprehensive business case.

AWS Enterprise Day | Running Critical Business Applications on AWSAmazon Web Services
The Cloud Journey for many enterprise customers starts with an initial migration of websites and mobile applications to AWS, followed by deployment of their critical business services. These services, such as SAP and Oracle, are typically more complex and underpin many business processes in the customer's organisation and may be deployed as hybrid solutions, integrated closely with other internal and external services. To do this, customers need to have fast and reliable connectivity to existing on-premise networks, as we covered in the previous session. Let's look at how we can now build on that to help you understand the benefits that many customers have achieved when they moved their business applications to AWS.
Whether you’re a cash-strapped startup or an enterprise trying to optimizing spend, it pays to run cost-efficient architectures on AWS. Come learn about cost planning, monitoring, and optimization strategies, featuring real AWS customer use cases.

AWS re:Invent 2016: Building Enterprise Cloud Operations As a Service with T-...Amazon Web Services
After launching several thousand EC2 instances in the cloud, we've learned that the key to running an IT fleet successfully on AWS is enforcing operational and economic discipline. As AWS service consumption grows, operational costs and overhead shouldn't grow linearly. Instead, IT should encourage new tenants that migrate from data centers to AWS to slowly shift toward a self-service delivery model and adopt the DevOps operations model. Creating and offering an AWS Cloud operations service catalog enables organizations to efficiently take full advantage of AWS' flexibility and modularity. T-Mobile, whose journey to AWS Cloud management started more than 2 years ago, uses a service catalog to enforce operational discipline in the Cloud. Their catalog is custom crafted for each Cloud-based IT workload. This session provides insight into the AWS Cloud operations strategy and its transformation, the creation of a Cloud operations service catalog, and how this approach supports reliable engineering on AWS.
Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

"Impact of front-end architecture on development cost", Viktor TurskyiFwdays
I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Also, many times I have seen how developers implement features on the front-end just following the standard rules for a framework and think that this is enough to successfully launch the project, and then the project fails. How to prevent this and what approach to choose? I have launched dozens of complex projects and during the talk we will analyze which approaches have worked for me and which have not.
