The Institute of Sustainable Development (ISD) was founded in 2005 as a unit of a registered society. ISD focuses on research, community initiatives, and training related to sustainable development. It has expertise in areas like qualitative research, participatory development, water management, and sustainable natural resource management. ISD implements community programs focused on issues like child education, health, livelihoods, and water governance. It partners with various organizations and works in 25 villages within 50 km of Chennai.
