Bryny has been communicating with a man named Johnny on a grief forum who she believes may be her father in disguise. Her mother passed away 14 years ago and her father is distant. Bryny sets up a trap to determine if Johnny is really her father by sending him a message while in his presence. When her father receives the message and makes eye contact with Bryny, they are both left with a look of realization but the story ends on a cliffhanger.

INT. HOUSE. LATE AFTERNOON/EARLY EVENING.
Montage: (camera)
in the kitchen of the house, the room is dimly lit by a
single lamp. Dishes are left in piles by the kitchen sink,
food is dried on. In the dining room, there are family photos
(mum incl) in which the frames are cracked, piece of tape
over mum’s face. We see a variety of papers scattered around
BRYNY 18 (describe BRNY) There are multiple failed exams and
letters of concern written from the school.

INT. BRYNYS ROOM. EVENING.
Shows Bryny in bed, lights off, cluttered room.

POV shot of BRYNY phone. Shows sweet messages coming through
from a mysterious guy, named JOHNNY.
JOHNNY: “

“BRYNY. DINNER!”
Show BRYNY rolling her eyes, smile wiped away, pulls cover
off and leaves frame.

INT. DINING ROOM/KITCHEN. DARK WINTER EVENING. TIME SHOWS
7:00PM.
BRYNY sits at a long dining room table alone, she taps away
at her phone, we hear messages being sent back and forth With
a smile on her face.
Martin walks in from the kitchen, carrying two pot noodles,
he places one in front of BRYNY.
LONG SHOT of BRYNY and MARTIN sat at opposite ends of the
table, both on their phones texting, with pot noodles For
their dinner. He places one in front of BRYNY, she looks up
At the dinner in disgust. She continues typing before sending
her last text, and then putting her phone on the table With
the face down.
MARTIN now sitting at the other end of the table, takes his
phone out of his pocket and before laying his phone down on
the table checks his messages. They both meet eye to eye.
There is tension in the air.
BRYNY(AWKWARDLY)
It’s chicken and mushroom, my
favourite.
Martin shuffles in his chair awkwardly not knowing what to
say to his daughter, BRYNY tugs her hair behind her ear and
avoids his gaze.
MARTIN (ON PHONE)
Yeah.. nice.
The silence is brutal.
BRYNY
It was her favourite as well…
Martin looks up from phone.
MARTIN
Don’t.
BRYNY
It’ll be 14 years tomorrow. I-I-was
thinking we could visit her?
MARTIN
I don’t know Bry. I don’t know if i
want to do that.

short silence.
MARTIN
With you..
MARTIN turns off phone. BRYNY opens her phone, starts
messaging JOHNNY (DAD).
MARTINs phone is buzzing on the table, right as BRYNY sends
messages.
Silence at dinner
Shows MARTIN get up from table, still looking at phone,
throws his pot noodle in bin and walks away.
BRYNY is left in shot, at the table, looking glum, and starts
to go on her phone.
CUT TO
INT. LIVING ROOM. NIGHT.
MARTIN walks into living room, and sits on the sofa. MISE-EN-
SCENE - picture frames of mum, and old family photos. Large
family photo in shot next to MARTIN on the sofa.
Puts on the TV. Soon as TV sound turns on, MARTIN gets a
‘ding’ message alert. Starts texting the anonymous woman.
MARTIN is looking at his phone and laughing, whist we see
BRYNY walk past the living room door and laugh too at the
same time, also looking at her phone.
BRYNY stops and walks back to door to hear dad still
laughing.
Shot change to dad back profile on the sofa. We see his
phone.
BRYNY quickly looks, looks alarmed (face expression) and runs
upstairs quickly.
Shot change to dad again (same angle). He turns his head to
look back, looking confused, then turns back around.

INT. BRYNY’S ROOM. NIGHT.
It is dark out.
BRYNY runs through bedroom door, slams it, and jumps on bed.
Medium close-up of BRYNY thinking to herself. Looks confused
and slightly worried.
EXT.SCHOOL GATES.DAY
A bright sunny day. We’ve are facing school gates with
students dri in. BRYNY is stood in fron of the gates wearing
her school uniform and talking to eve]=ie a 17

she is home. She runs upstairs.
INT. BRYNY’S ROOM. EARLY EVENING.
BRYNY lays back in bed slowly. Stunned look on her face.
Clock in room ticking. Silence in the room.
Silence is broken by a text message alert from johnny.40
(dad).
JOHNNY.40
how was your day?
BRYNY looks at the message for a little longer than 5 seconds
She looks up from her phone, then back down again.
She begins to type into her phone
“I wish you asked me that every day dad..”
BRYNY quickly deletes the message, and responds with
GEORGIA_28
it was okay. the grief hurt a lot
today.
JOHNNY.40
It’s all i can ever think about.
INT. KITCHEN. LATE EVENING.
BRYNY
Same kitchen table shot as before. Cyclical structure.
BRYNY is sat at the table alone. chewing on toast crusts.
DAD walks into kitchen slowly, with back hunched, and sits at
other end of table.
DAD sighs, and pulls out his phone from his pocket. Proceeds

to look at his phone.
BRYNY looks ups from her empty plate at her dad.
She lingers her stare for a second, and then gets up from her
seat.
She begins to slice some more bread, in the process of making
toast for her father.
BRYNY keeps looking back at him to see if he is looking at
her, making him food, which he is not. Eyes still drawn to
his phone.
BRYNY looks down for a few seconds, looking disappointed,
when the silence is broken when the toast dings out of the
toaster, and BRYNY jumps slightly.
BRYNY walks over to her dad and places the plate in front of
him. DAD looks up at BRYNY for a second, nods his head
slightly, and looks back down at his phone.
BRYNY smiles a little, and returns to her seat at the other
end of the table.
BRYNY looks at her dad whilst he eats his first slice of
toast. She then leans back on her chair to grab her phone
from the kitchen counter.
BRYNY takes a deep breath, looks at her dad then back to her
phone, and begins typing.
She bites her lip slightly, and presses send.
DAD gets a message alert. audience can see his sudden smile
when she texts, but the smile quickly fades when he reads the
message.
CLOSE-UP of dad’s eyes reading.
DAD shots his face up to look at BRYNY.
dad and BRYNY both in shot looking at each other from across
