Teachers play an important role in developing students' intellectual and emotional intelligence. While a high IQ correlates with academic success, focusing only on intellectual development can create "intellectual monsters" who lack empathy and emotional control. Multiple intelligences theory recognizes different strengths in students. Effective teaching develops the mind, ability to understand emotions, and control oneself. Nurturing emotional intelligence through authentic assessment and integrating values into lessons can help reduce behavioral issues and bullying while improving attendance and discipline. IQ alone accounts for only 25% of success - teachers must consider students' emotional development as well.
