iOS 10 introduces several new features including the ability to delete pre-installed Apple apps, edit images and add videos in Messenger conversations, customize notification cards, and filter email delivery. The update also allows interacting with a car's system from the phone to announce callers or remember parking locations, and creates "Memories" videos from photos with music. While the update saw initial installation issues, these were quickly resolved.

3. Press home to unlock your phone
• You now have to press the home key to unlock your phone
If you don’t want to do this, you can go into the Settings function
and change it.

6. You can delete Apple apps you don’t like!
• In exactly the same way that you can delete any other app.
• Hold your finger on the app and wait for the apps to ‘jiggle’, and then
press the X mark in the top left
• You can’t delete all the apps however, there are still some like iHealth
that will remain
• Please note that although the icon and the data are deleted, the app
is still hidden on your phone, taking up space. There’s nothing you can
do about that.

8. Notification cards
• Swipe right to bring your notification centre up on the screen.
• There are plenty of widgets you can use to set up immediate access
to things that are of interest to you.

10. Messenger
• You can now easily edit images in Messenger.
• Add the image, hold it and enter the edit screen.
• At the bottom of the screen you will see icons to scribble, magnify,
add and change text.

12. Messenger
• You can also add YouTube videos into Messenger and they will
immediately play, rather than requiring you to leave the app and go
into YouTube.
• You can also add handwritten notes
• You can make images arrive with a ‘slam’, or gently, or with ‘invisible
ink’ so you have to touch the image in order to see it

15. iOS and your car
• In settings you can get your car’s computer system to interact with
your phone and announce your caller.
• You can also get your phone to remember where you have parked
your car
• Both of these options require connecting your iPhone to your car’s
computer system

17. Safari
• You can now close all the tabs in Safari in one go. Simply hold the
pages icon in the top right hand corner of the screen
• You can also drag a tab down and to the right in order to split the
Safari screen so that you can view two different pages at the same
time. (iPad only)

20. Mail
• You can now get Mail to filter your emails to you in a variety of ways

22. Video quality
• You can change the quality of video when you are on a wifi
connection in order to save bandwidth

24. Memories
• iOS 10 will provide you with access to ‘memories’ which you can use
to create videos of photographs with background music, and then
send them onto friends. Great for remembering an event or occasion.

28. Installing iOS 10
• There were a few issues with installing the update in the first few
hours. However, these were quickly overcome, so you can update
your system without worrying that you’ll ‘brick’ your phone.
