This document contains a literature review on foreign direct investment (FDI). It begins by defining FDI and discussing how FDI flows are compiled. It then reviews several theories on the determinants and impacts of FDI. Market size, trade openness, macroeconomic stability, and infrastructure development are identified as important determinants of FDI inflows. The literature suggests that while FDI can benefit economic growth, developing effective policies is important to maximize benefits and minimize risks for host countries like Nigeria.

Research posters - 2017 OECD Global Anti-Corruption & Integrity Forum

This poster discusses offsets in public sector procurement and the potential for corruption. Offsets are commercial commitments made by foreign suppliers to purchase goods or services from the importing country as a condition for being awarded a major contract. While intended to promote economic development and trade balance, offsets lack transparency and can enable corruption. The poster finds that a small number of countries account for the vast majority of the $500 billion global offset market, creating incentives to bribe. It proposes solutions like increased transparency rules and industry standards to curb corruption risks while preserving offsets' economic goals.

It outlines the roles of corporate governance, risk management, control, and internal audit functions. It then discusses challenges such as qualified resources, conflict of interest identification, and measuring value-add. New technologies like analytics, cybersecurity, mobile apps, and social media are changing the audit universe. India's exim policy

This document provides an overview of India's Export-Import policy, including: 1. It outlines 5 analytical phases (developed by Bhagwati and Krueger) that countries typically go through with their trade policies, from an initial emphasis on quantitative restrictions to gradual liberalization and free trade. 2. It then discusses the phases India has gone through with its EXIM policies since the 1950s, initially emphasizing import substitution and protectionism before gradually liberalizing. 3. The current EXIM Policy of 2002-2007 aims to facilitate sustained export growth, provide access to imports needed for production, and improve competitiveness while benefiting consumers. It liberalizes rules regarding imports and exports.

OECD Investment Policy Review of Uruguay - Key findings

In July 2020, the Investment Committee recommended to Council to invite Uruguay to become the 50th adherent to the OECD Declaration on International Investment and Multinational Enterprises. This OECD Investment Policy Review of Uruguay documents the progress made in recent years to align investment policies with the national development strategy in pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Review also assesses remaining challenges in improving the business climate, in particular the actions needed to establish an enabling responsible business environment and ensure full application of the Declaration. Uruguay’s success in attracting more and better investment will make its economy more resilient and better prepared to accelerate the recovery after COVID-19. Freedom from corruption
■ CORRUPTION:
Corruption is an insidious plague that has a wide range
of corrosive effects on societies. It undermines democracy
and the rule of law, leads to violations of human rights,
distorts markets, erodes the quality of life and allows
organized crime, terrorism and other threats to human
security to flourish. This evil phenomenon is found in all
countries.

South Korea has an economic freedom score of 71.2, making its economy the 31st freest in the world. Its score increased slightly over the past year. South Korea has experienced largely stagnant economic freedom over the past 20 years, with gains in market openness offset by declines in other areas. The country has a dynamic private sector and well-educated workforce but still struggles with issues of corruption.

Emerging Market Investment Risks
Emerging Market Investment Risks Emerging Market Investment Risks
Emerging Market Investment Risks

Emerging markets present both opportunities and hidden risks for investors. While emerging economies often experience rapid GDP growth, studies show there is little correlation between GDP growth and investment returns. Investments in emerging markets face risks including foreign exchange conversion risks impacting returns, less liquidity, poor corporate governance, and political and regulatory risks like inconsistent transfer pricing rules. Thoroughly understanding country-specific risks is essential for investors when evaluating opportunities in emerging economies.

Official corruption
Official corruption is typically .understood as a means by
which established human rights are violated, but not as a
direct violation. Freedom from official corruption is not
enshrined as a universal and inalienable right to which a
person isinherently entitled.
Freedom of corruption Index
Definition: The score for the Freedom of corruption index is
derived primarily from Transparency International’s
Corruption Perceptions Index. For countries that are not
covered in the CPI the freedom from corruption score is
determined by using information from internationally
recognized and reliable sources. Higher index values denote
lower level of corruption.
