In Week Three, you created a literature review around the scenario that you selected in Week One (scenario is below). For the Week Six assignment, you will create an intervention proposal that contains a professional recommendation for the chosen case study. The Intervention Proposal should incorporate the Week Three Literature Review and Week One Annotated Bibliography assignments.
In a 10- to 12-page paper (not including the title page or references page) the student will:
Briefly restate the problem from the chosen case study.
Compose a thesis statement that contains the student’s professional recommendation. The thesis statement should be located near the end of the second paragraph of the report.
Explain the relevant theories and empirical studies that have led to the student’s professional recommendation. The explanation must include evaluations of seven to eight, peer-reviewed articles from the Annotated Bibliography that was created in Week Two. At least one of these articles must be about a specific empirical study. In addition, the explanation must:
Evaluate each article (comparing and contrasting them with the other articles) and answer the following questions:
What was the researchers’ research question?
What was their hypothesis?
How many participants did they have?
Was the research design method appropriate for that particular hypothesis? Was it valid?
Did their findings support the hypothesis?
What are the implications?
What are the limitations?
Discuss the opposing sides to the student’s recommendation and explain:
Why it is relevant.
Why it should be considered.
Why it should be discounted for this recommendation.
Discuss any limitations or gaps in existing research.
Restate the professional recommendation in one to two concluding paragraphs.
The paper must include a title page and references page, and it must be formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.
Organization tip: It is best to start with the least related and most broad article and move toward the most relevant. It can be helpful to think of the organization for this report as a funnel: The articles evaluated should get more and more specific and narrow in breadth throughout the report.
Language Note: This report is being written for an audience that is not familiar with the theories and material that are discussed. This means that the paper needs to be accessible to all individuals. All technical terms, acronyms, and theories should be explained and jargon should be avoided.

Findings show that they were adequately prepared to respond to a disaster once it happened but that they were seriously lacking in preparing citizens to take seriously the possibility that disaster could strike at any time. In fact, in the days leading up to the approaching storm, many warnings were issued to the public to take precautions up to and including evacuation. However, public perception appeared to be that the media and local leaders were exaggerating the level of imminent danger. A recent national survey shows that even in light of this disaster and the widespread publicity it received, Americans are no more prepared for this type of catastrophe than they were in 2003 (FEMA, 2006).
These results are worrisome to federal and local authorities, and to disaster preparedness teams who attempt to warn the public of impending danger. The frustration lies in the fact that tactical plans for responding are well implemented, practiced, and executed successfully when disaster strikes. However, persuading the public to take seriously their personal responsibility has been a massive failure. Officials now realize that they need the advice of an applied social psychology expert to help them implement social marketing to raise public awareness of the need for disaster preparedness.

Application: Comparative Analysis of Systemic Crises
As you learned last week, crises that share the "individual, couple, and family" classification nevertheless can differ dramatically in terms of their breadth and the intervention strategies most often used to address them. The same is true of systemic crises. "Systemic crises" comprise the second broad category into which certain types of crisis situations can be classified.
The unifying factor between the types of situations in this category is implied by its title—systemic crises affect large
systems.
This might be a school, a workplace, a particular community, or an entire city, state, country, or region. When a systemic crisis occurs, not just one person or family is affected. Dozens, hundreds, thousands, or even millions of individuals, couples, and families might feel the impact. The breadth of impact of a systemic crisis, then, is broader than in an individual, couple, and/or family crisis situation, yet can still vary somewhat between different types within the category as a whole. A public health disaster, such as a worldwide flu outbreak, for instance, would have a larger and more complex breadth of impact than would a natural disaster, such as a tornado, that affects a single community.
Systemic crisis interventions require a combination of strategies to be effective. Such crises have the potential to affect every aspect of life, meaning response efforts must include everything from the immediate provision of basic needs such as potable water, food, shelter, medication, and the physical safety of those affected, to intensive counseling for victims suffering from psychological distress, to long-term plans for rebuilding or ongoing recovery. As a result, intervention strategies for all systemic crises must be multifaceted, multipronged, and developed cooperatively between and among multiple organizations and/or agencies. At the same time, the specific strategies implemented may vary across situations. Every crisis is unique and thus requires a customized response depending on the needs of those affected.
To prepare for this assignment:
Consider the types of systemic crises presented this week: school-based; crisis/hostage situations; natural disasters (e.g., hurricanes, tornadoes, floods); human-made disasters (e.g., terrorism, war, fires); and public health disasters (e.g., SARS, Legionnaire's outbreak, flu pandemic). Select two specific systemic crisis situations. Each must represent a different type as listed above. Both should be different from the type of crisis you analyzed in this week's Discussion.

Hello Professor and Class,
Due to the fire growing 10 times its original size, my first step would be calling for neighboring fire departments to assist in controlling the fire and helping to evacuate residence. It is important to asses which direction the wind is blowing to determine the direction the fire will continue to go until it is put out. If this did not at least slow the fire, this is when I would request federal assistance. "Federal responsibility for wildfire suppression is intended to protect lives, property, and resources on federal lands" (Hoover, 2019). Due to the fire continuing to grow and local response not being able to control it, to ensure lives are protected it would be important to call for federal assistance. They would be able to help with controlling the fire, evacuation of residence, and additional resources for individuals who have had to leave their homes.

Purpose: The purpose of an outline is to identify the most important ideas in one or more chapters of a textbook and organize them according to their importance.

The Communication Landscape
Effective crisis communication planning requires having accurate demographic information. What languages are spoken in a particular area? Where do the more vulnerable populations live? Who is responsible for making decisions?
Effective communication strategies are typically rapid, accurate, and involve input from all those in decision-making positions. Understanding the cultural milieu and support systems may be challenging for responders from the area and even more so for responders from outside of the area. Overlay these obstacles with a technological inability to communicate inside or outside the region, and planning for communication before a crisis then takes on added importance. Additionally, without effective communication plans in place, disaster rumors and inaccurate or outdated information can in turn cause great chaos.
Furthermore, vulnerable populations can prove to be the most challenging people to assist after a disaster. As evidenced in the 2010 Haiti earthquake, relief was not immediate because of the existing impoverished pre-disaster conditions. Facilities such as airstrips and roads were in questionable repair, so aid coming in was not readily accessible. Most Haitians are low-income, existing on two U.S. dollars per day, and only 50% of the population is literate and able to read directions in order to find locations for food and water. Factors such as these contributed to difficulties in assisting this vulnerable population in the aftermath of the disaster.

Following the fire incident on the coast of San Francisco there some measures that will be taken by the emergency incident responder on the ground that will set objectives that are consistent with the priorities gauged on the ground considering the place carries a capacity of thousands of people. The thermal pulse is likely to cause too much damage and within seconds people will die because of the spread of fire in the next 24 hours. S: Evacuation of all the people in the area that the fire has not reached should be executed immediately within this minute to prevent more damage. This objective is what should be done because the lives of the people are a priority in this case, (Cheng, et.al, 2017).
M: 5,000 jets have been sent on the coast of San Francisco to transport the people being evacuated including the injured people. This objective is important in this case because the progress in achieving the directive should be pursued, (Cheng, et.al, 2017). A: A number of jets have been seen departing the shore with more than 100,000 people and there are more planes to come. This shows that there is action being taken that describes the expected accomplishment of the situation. T: The evacuation of the people should be achieved in the next 6 hours to save more lives as possible. This ensures that there is immediate action that does not lead to delays that can cause more damage and loss of people considering the impact of the radiation from the fall out has significant impact on their health hence need to get them from the place.
PART 2:
The Fire Department that was assigned to respond to the situation at hand in San Francisco and life safety was their priority in this case. They a have a crucial role to play in an event of a hazardous situation which means that the team was well trained about fire blasts and explosions. They could not control the ignition of the fire and therefore the only thing they could do was to save as many lives as possible, (Nunavath, et.al, 2016). Fire responders always work strategically and quickly in a situation where a fire can escalate causing more damage and controlling the threat may pose a challenge. They did all they could to minimize the loss of lives by evacuating all the people from buildings. Although, the blast had a huge impact on the shore leading to many people dying, they took the initiative of trying to save the remaining lives.

Abstract
This essay explores the intellectual contexts wherein disasters are defined as non-
routine social problems. The argument is advanced that this theoretical orientation can
both open new doors for researchers and assist emergency management professionals in
critically reviewing existing policy and future proposals. The essay is comprised of five
sections: 1) introduction (how I came to this topic); 2) social problems perspectives (key
insights from past and recent analyses); 3) disaster research (sampling of theoretical
issues and conclusions relevant to a social problems orientation); 4) emergency
management (selected policy areas and implications) and 5) conclusions (payoffs for
future theory and application).

I am honored to have been selected as a recipient of the E.L. Quarantelli Theory
Award and proudly accept. I want to thank Dr. Robert A. Stallings, former International
Research Committee on Disasters President (2002-2006) for his role in making this
happen as well as Dr. Ronald W. Perry, our current President (2006-2010).
This award only has been made twice before and I am humbled to join the prior
recipients—Drs. Russell R. Dynes (University of Delaware) and Allen H. Barton

This study focused on parents' emotion work and emotions surrounding home. Emotional work showed to have drained parents, as did threats to, and the loss of, "home" created through "dwelling." When homes burnt, so too did memories of children embodied in that home. This sense of loss intensified when informing children about losses. These emotions impacted parents' mental and physical wellbeing.While there is considerable literature outlining parents' role in lessening disaster impacts on children, few studies examine parents' capacity to do so. In addressing this gap, this study highlights avenues to improve psychosocial aspects of disaster recovery.

This study explores evacuation intentions among wildland-urban interface residents in Pend Oreille County, Washington, USA. The funders within the three search had explored how mitigation performance (e.g., fuel reduction efforts, structure improvements, active firefighting preparation) differs across three emergent categories of evacuation intentions and evaluate whether a range of factors correlate with participants' evacuation intentions. The funder’s results suggest that a relatively high proportion of residents in the study area intend to stay and defend their property from a wildfire, with smaller proportions intending to evacuate or shelter in place. Individuals who intend to stay and defend are more likely to implement fuel reduction and property mitigation strategies when compared to those intending to evacuate or shelter in place.

The Communication Landscape
Effective crisis communication planning requires having accurate demographic information. What languages are spoken in a particular area? Where do the more vulnerable populations live? Who is responsible for making decisions?
Effective communication strategies are typically rapid, accurate, and involve input from all those in decision-making positions. Understanding the cultural milieu and support systems may be challenging for responders from the area and even more so for responders from outside of the area. Overlay these obstacles with a technological inability to communicate inside or outside the region, and planning for communication before a crisis then takes on added importance. Additionally, without effective communication plans in place, disaster rumors and inaccurate or outdated information can in turn cause great chaos.
Furthermore, vulnerable populations can prove to be the most challenging people to assist after a disaster. As evidenced in the 2010 Haiti earthquake, relief was not immediate because of the existing impoverished pre-disaster conditions. Facilities such as airstrips and roads were in questionable repair, so aid coming in was not readily accessible. Most Haitians are low-income, existing on two U.S. dollars per day, and only 50% of the population is literate and able to read directions in order to find locations for food and water. Factors such as these contributed to difficulties in assisting this vulnerable population in the aftermath of the disaster.

Following the fire incident on the coast of San Francisco there some measures that will be taken by the emergency incident responder on the ground that will set objectives that are consistent with the priorities gauged on the ground considering the place carries a capacity of thousands of people. The thermal pulse is likely to cause too much damage and within seconds people will die because of the spread of fire in the next 24 hours. S: Evacuation of all the people in the area that the fire has not reached should be executed immediately within this minute to prevent more damage. This objective is what should be done because the lives of the people are a priority in this case, (Cheng, et.al, 2017).
M: 5,000 jets have been sent on the coast of San Francisco to transport the people being evacuated including the injured people. This objective is important in this case because the progress in achieving the directive should be pursued, (Cheng, et.al, 2017). A: A number of jets have been seen departing the shore with more than 100,000 people and there are more planes to come. This shows that there is action being taken that describes the expected accomplishment of the situation. T: The evacuation of the people should be achieved in the next 6 hours to save more lives as possible. This ensures that there is immediate action that does not lead to delays that can cause more damage and loss of people considering the impact of the radiation from the fall out has significant impact on their health hence need to get them from the place.

The Fire Department that was assigned to respond to the situation at hand in San Francisco and life safety was their priority in this case. They a have a crucial role to play in an event of a hazardous situation which means that the team was well trained about fire blasts and explosions. They could not control the ignition of the fire and therefore the only thing they could do was to save as many lives as possible, (Nunavath, et.al, 2016). Fire responders always work strategically and quickly in a situation where a fire can escalate causing more damage and controlling the threat may pose a challenge. They did all they could to minimize the loss of lives by evacuating all the people from buildings. Although, the blast had a huge impact on the shore leading to many people dying, they took the initiative of trying to save the remaining lives.

Abstract
This essay explores the intellectual contexts wherein disasters are defined as non-
routine social problems. The argument is advanced that this theoretical orientation can
both open new doors for researchers and assist emergency management professionals in
critically reviewing existing policy and future proposals. The essay is comprised of five
sections: 1) introduction (how I came to this topic); 2) social problems perspectives (key
insights from past and recent analyses); 3) disaster research (sampling of theoretical
issues and conclusions relevant to a social problems orientation); 4) emergency
management (selected policy areas and implications) and 5) conclusions (payoffs for
future theory and application).

I am honored to have been selected as a recipient of the E.L. Quarantelli Theory
Award and proudly accept. I want to thank Dr. Robert A. Stallings, former International
Research Committee on Disasters President (2002-2006) for his role in making this
happen as well as Dr. Ronald W. Perry, our current President (2006-2010).
This award only has been made twice before and I am humbled to join the prior
recipients—Drs. Russell R. Dynes (University of Delaware) and Allen H. Barton

This study focused on parents' emotion work and emotions surrounding home. Emotional work showed to have drained parents, as did threats to, and the loss of, "home" created through "dwelling." When homes burnt, so too did memories of children embodied in that home. This sense of loss intensified when informing children about losses. These emotions impacted parents' mental and physical wellbeing.While there is considerable literature outlining parents' role in lessening disaster impacts on children, few studies examine parents' capacity to do so. The funder’s results suggest that a relatively high proportion of residents in the study area intend to stay and defend their property from a wildfire, with smaller proportions intending to evacuate or shelter in place. With the end of the Cold War, Central Asia, a region that for many remains relatively obscure, has enjoyed renewed attention. One area of particular interest for many observers has been the impact of the so-called “Islamic factor” on domains like regional security, domestic politics, and international relations. However, the region is sometimes treated as peripheral to the rest of the Islamic world, while Central Asian Muslims are depicted as casual and ignorant in comparison to their supposedly more rigorous and “authentic” coreligionists elsewhere. As a result, Islam’s role in Central Asia, past and present, remains poorly understood and misconstrued as a source of danger, backwardness, and instability. The goal of this course is to shed light on the different ways that people make sense of Islam in contemporary Central Asia, with a particular focus on the diversity of Islamic belief and practice in the region. Special emphasis will also be placed on exploring the ways in which Islam is imbricated with, rather than opposed to, modernity and modern ideologies like nationalism and the nation-state.

My strengths would be to initially identify the patient’s spiritual preferences, being attentive by being an active listener to the patient’s spiritual needs. Moreover, spirituality is essentially an unchecked vital sign that is essentially to all patients regardless of their religion. However, weakness mainly finding consultation for patients whom are very particular about whom they speak. Also being exposed to different patient populations within med-surg that have different capacities which can be difficult to honor their wishes but do so to the best of my ability. When it comes to patients, it’s important to improve patient care through “taking a spiritual history, respecting and supporting spiritual beliefs, challenging beliefs, praying with patients, and appropriate consultation with clergy” (Koenig, 2008). This is something I will continue to work on as time goes on.
If I were a patient with the capacity, I would coordinate with the health care team about my preferences and needs and be updated on all of the happenings regarding my plan of care. The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.

In a 10- to 12-page paper (not including the title page or
references page) the student will:
Briefly restate the problem from the chosen case study.
Compose a thesis statement that contains the student’s
professional recommendation. The thesis statement should be
located near the end of the second paragraph of the report.
Explain the relevant theories and empirical studies that have led
to the student’s professional recommendation. The explanation
must include evaluations of seven to eight, peer-reviewed
articles from the Annotated Bibliography that was created in
Week Two. At least one of these articles must be about a
specific empirical study. In addition, the explanation must:
Evaluate each article (comparing and contrasting them with the
other articles) and answer the following questions:
What was the researchers’ research question?
What was their hypothesis?

Scenario Three: The Psychology of Disaster Preparedness
In September 2003 a Category Two hurricane made landfall in a
town that was ill prepared for such a natural disaster. The
hurricane claimed over 100 lives and caused approximately $1.4
billion in damages. This large American city had not
experienced a natural disaster of this proportion for more than
100 years. Therefore, none of the current citizens had any
personal knowledge of exactly what preparations might be in
order to survive such an event. In the wake of the storm
prosocial (helping) behaviors to aid hurricane victims were at
an all-time high. Unfortunately, many lives were lost as a direct
result of the lack of pre-disaster preparedness on the part of the
citizens residing in the affected city.
Local and federal emergency management agencies have
researched extensively what went wrong with their disaster
response plans. Findings show that they were adequately
prepared to respond to a disaster once it happened but that they
were seriously lacking in preparing citizens to take seriously the
possibility that disaster could strike at any time. In fact, in the
days leading up to the approaching storm, many warnings were
issued to the public to take precautions up to and including
evacuation. However, public perception appeared to be that the
media and local leaders were exaggerating the level of imminent
danger. A recent national survey shows that even in light of this
disaster and the widespread publicity it received, Americans are
no more prepared for this type of catastrophe than they were in
4. 2003 (FEMA, 2006).
These results are worrisome to federal and local authorities, and
to disaster preparedness teams who attempt to warn the public
of impending danger. The frustration lies in the fact that tactical
plans for responding are well implemented, practiced, and
executed successfully when disaster strikes. However,
persuading the public to take seriously their personal
responsibility has been a
massive failure. Officials now realize that they need the advice
of an applied social psychology expert to help them implement
social marketing to raise public awareness of the need for
disaster preparedness.
FEMA has retained you, an applied social psychology expert, to
provide a scholarly analysis of the scientific, peer-reviewed
literature on the factors related to attitude and behavior change
such as risk perception, persuasion theories, persuasion
techniques, motivation, and self-efficacy. You
