2. The People
• The Inuit lived in the Nunavut , the
Northwest Territories and Northern
Quebec.
3. Clothing
• The Inuit would were parkas made from
caribou hides. Women's parkas had
pouches to hold small children.
• Inuit pants were made from caribou hides
and the pants are so big it would stop
freezing wind, ice, and snow.
• Mittens were made from seal skin so it
would not let the water in.
• There kamiks were only to be worn on
land because they were not waterproof
and there were seals
4. Homes
• In winter Inuit would build Igloos. To build
an igloo, they froze blocks of ice, and
placed them like a circle so it formed a
dome.
• Summer homes. In summer, the Inuits
would build tents as homes made from
wooden poles or the rib bones of whales.
5. Food
• Caribou was eaten by the Inuit. They ate
the fat, bones and blood.
• The Inuit fished for Arctic char. It could be
eaten raw, frozen, dried, or cooked.
• They did not get vegetables but they ate
nuts and berries.
• Bannock is a type of bread they ate.
• Pemmican was made with meat, animal fat,
and berries.
6. Tools
• The unaq was a type of harpoon was used to
hunt seals and whales.
• A nitsiq was used to pull out animals.
• The Inuit wore wooden goggles to protect there
eyes called slits.
• Komatiks were dog sleds.
• Kayaks were used to pull people and goods and
a umiaks were bigger and were used for hunting
and fishing.
