Blogs and social media played an important role in mobilizing people and spreading information during events like the Arab Spring. Web 1.0 allowed people to learn through searching, while Web 2.0 enabled learning from and sharing with others through blogs, social networking, and publishing to the world. Blogs are websites with discrete blog posts displayed in reverse chronological order that have transformed journalism into more of a conversation. They have also helped spread awareness of events globally and allowed activists to organize demonstrations.
This document introduces blogs and their use in education. It defines a blog as a web-based journal where people can publish their thoughts and opinions. The benefits of blogging for education include interactive communication, resource and opinion sharing, collaboration, promoting critical thinking, and building learning communities. Blogs can overcome limitations of other communication tools by providing an open, decentralized, and interactive environment. Examples provided show how blogs allow students to apply concepts through projects, develop critical reasoning, and learn through interactive and reflective activities.
This document discusses the future of blogging and journalism using new media tools. It notes that blogs have transitioned from an upstart community to having influence on mainstream narratives. Bloggers are expanding their use of social media like Twitter, YouTube, and Flickr. The lines between blogs, micro-blogs, and social networks are disappearing. Journalists need to take advantage of all platforms and see them as working together. Blogging can help develop writing skills when following best practices like linking to credible sources, attributing information, and engaging with readers through comments.
The presentation on blogging best practices by Mandy Burrell Booth, Ben Schulman, & Marissa Wasseluk for the Center For Nonprofit Success' Social Media Summit in Chicago.

Building Trust Within Communities Through StorytellingBrian Huonker
Traditional communication channels are becoming ineffective in capturing and engaging the attention of today’s perpetually connected community residents. This, in turn, is making it increasingly difficult to communicate with them, to keep the community informed on upcoming elections, filing deadlines, fee increases, as well as changes in policies and ordinances. Additionally, today’s “fake news” generation does not trust information from traditional channels, only 6% of millennials consider traditional communications even to be credible. Today's municipalities must adapt their communication strategies in an effort to be heard in the face of the consumers’ rapidly changing media consumption landscape. To get out ahead of traditional media channels with the facts. And most importantly, become the trusted source of information within their communities.
In this session, you will learn
How to identify a topic to write about from the questions your community is asking but not talking to you about.
Strategies for transforming those topics into informational and persuasive “storified” content.
How to utilize those stories in blogs, infographics, social media posts, and videos that connect with the community and ensures they are informed
How to deliver those stories through a content marketing strategy that builds mindful scheduling habits.
Discover tracking methods to understand which stories, types of content are being read by your communities and use that information to develop future stories.
Through strategic, engaging content, you can stay connected with your community to keep them informed on your ever-changing community. Build a trusted relationship with them to ensure your messages are received and understood. And become an unmistakable and essential community partner in their eyes.

In today's fast-paced world, fashion has become an integral part of our lives. It is a form of self-expression that allows individuals to showcase their unique style and personality.
Journalism is changing due to social media adoption and mobile media. Social media allows private citizens to generate and share content, weakening traditional media's agenda setting role. It also enables citizen journalism and crowdsourcing of information and ideas. While social media has increased audience engagement and participation, it also presents challenges for journalists in maintaining quality and relying on untrusted user-generated content. Overall, journalism is becoming more interactive, multimedia and on-demand to keep up with social media trends and audiences.
Social media has significantly impacted journalism in three main ways:
1. It has redefined who can participate in journalism by allowing private citizens and non-professionals to create and share news, opinions, and information online through platforms like blogs, microblogs, and citizen journalism sites.
2. It has changed how news spreads by influencing what issues and information gain widespread attention through sharing and discussion on social networking sites. It has also weakened traditional media's control over the news agenda.
3. It has forced changes in journalism practices, as news organizations have adopted new technologies and strategies for interactive and on-demand reporting to engage audiences accustomed to social media. Journalists now focus more on audience engagement and multimedia

In today’s world, the growing need for insight and perspective from plugged-in individuals across the world, in real-time, is an imperative; not only is it crucial to ensuring we become better communicators, decided strategic thinkers and more inspired human beings who always remain relevant and at the fore, it’s fun to see what the world is up to!
In looking at trends and movements within different countries and how these develop and evolve, it is especially inspiring to witness the micro, grass roots activities of small communities become impactful beyond their original incarnation and alongside this, the social narrative that tells the story as these movements develop into what we call trends.

1. Introduction
Biography blogging is a rapidly evolving genre in the digital landscape, blending the traditional
art of biography with the accessibility and immediacy of the internet. It offers writers a unique
platform to tell the life stories of individuals, whether historical figures, celebrities, or ordinary
people, in a captivating and interactive manner. This form of digital storytelling has gained
immense popularity over the years, enabling bloggers to connect with a global audience and
share their passion for recounting the lives and experiences of others. In this article, we'll
explore the fascinating world of biography blogging, its evolution, key components, and tips for
crafting compelling narratives.
I. The Rise of Biography Blogging
1. The Digital Revolution
The emergence of the internet and the subsequent digital revolution reshaped how we
consume and share information. One of the notable outcomes of this transformation was the
rise of blogging. As early as the late 1990s, individuals started creating personal blogs, sharing
their thoughts, experiences, and stories online. This marked the beginning of a profound shift in
how people communicated and accessed content.
2. The Allure of Biographical Narratives
Humans have always been drawn to stories about other people's lives. Biographies,
autobiographies, and memoirs have long been popular forms of literature. Readers are
captivated by the triumphs, struggles, and personal journeys of individuals, whether they are
historical figures, cultural icons, or everyday heroes.
3. The Birth of Biography Blogging
Biography blogging emerged as a natural evolution of these trends. Writers and enthusiasts
realized the potential of the internet to share their love for biographical narratives with a global
audience. They could now publish, update, and interact with readers in real time, making the
storytelling process more dynamic and engaging.
II. Key Components of Biography Blogging
1. In-Depth Research
A cornerstone of effective biography blogging is thorough research. Bloggers need to dig deep
into the lives of their subjects, gathering historical facts, anecdotes, and insights. This research
provides the foundation for a rich and informative narrative.
2. Engaging Writing Style
Successful biography bloggers often employ a captivating writing style that keeps readers
hooked. They must strike a balance between conveying facts and injecting a personal touch to
make the narrative relatable and enjoyable.
2. 3. Multimedia Integration
In the digital age, multimedia elements like images, videos, and interactive maps can enhance
the reader's experience. Biography bloggers often include these elements to provide visual
context and engage their audience on multiple levels.
4. Regular Updates
Unlike traditional books or essays, blogs are dynamic platforms. Bloggers should commit to
regular updates to keep readers coming back for more. Posting new content at consistent
intervals helps maintain audience interest and loyalty.
