Introduction to  E-Portfolios Pathways
What is an E-Portfolio? A collection of your work that can be used to:  Plan your career Apply for: A job A post secondary institution that might interest you (i.e.: colleges, certification programs, technical schools)  Documents what you have learned.
Why do you need an E-Portfolio? Identifies the qualities you can offer an organization. (ex. employer, internship placement, college and other post secondary institutions)  Builds confidence in what you can achieve Documents what you have accomplished Helps to identify where you want to go next It gets peoples attention!
Why do we put our E-Portfolios on-line? It will not get lost or thrown away by accident You can easily recreate to tell different stories It will not clutter up someone’s desk and avoids you from forgetting it somewhere Available anywhere, anytime Demonstrates your technology skills
What goes into an E-Portfolio? 2 types of portfolio. The “working” portfolio. Holds  everything The “presentation” portfolio. A subset of the working portfolio  arranged to tell a story about you. Includes  best samples of your work that support the purpose  of the portfolio.
We will be creating a presentation E-Portfolio Allows viewer to see what the strong qualities and characteristics you possess

Experience Work experiences, projects you have been involved in
Accomplishments Acknowledgements, Certificates, Awards, Prizes, Rewards, etc.
Knowledge What you know courses taken each year courses expected for next year standardized test scores knowledge acquired outside of school (work, volunteer activities, etc.)
Skills What you know how to do and Identified through Bridges assessments
What else can you add? Career assessment and Do what you Are(Bridges) Research on career searches (Career Researches) Research on post-secondary education, military, employment , internships, and self-employment
