The NTPC Farakka Super Thermal Power Project is located in Nabarun, West Bengal and has an installed capacity of 2100 MW of coal-based power. It sources coal from the Lalmatia coal fields and water from the Farakka feeder canal. The power plant benefits the states of West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa, Sikkim, Assam, Tripura and the Damodar Valley Corporation. It has 3 units of 200 MW each in Stage 1 and 2 units of 500 MW each in Stage 2 and 1 unit of 500 MW in Stage 3.
