On Storytelling & Magic Realism in Rushdie’s Midnight’s Children, Shame, and ...AJHSSR Journal
ABSTRACT: Salman Rushdie’s novels are humorous books about serious times. His cosmopolitanism and
hybrid identity allowed him access to multiple cultures, religions, languages, dialects, and various modes of
writing. His style is often classified as magic realism, blending the imaginary with the real. He draws
inspiration from both English literature and Indian classical sources. Throughout his works, there is a lineage of
‘bastards of history’, a carnival of shameful characters scrolling all along his works. Rushdie intertwines fiction
with reality, incorporating intertextual references to Western literature in his texts, and frequently employing
mythology to explore history. This paper focuses on Rushdie’s three novels: Midnight’s Children, Shame, and
Haroun and the Sea of Stories, analyzing his postmodern storytelling techniques that aim to explore human
vices and follies while offering socio-political criticism.

Technical Colleges in the Middle Belt Nigeria using innovative technologies for their daily jobs and 20 officers
of the crime agency such as: Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) andEconomic and Financial
Crimes Commission (EFCC). Three research purposes and questions as well as the hypothesis guided the study
on Five (5) point Likert scale. Data collected were analyzed using mean and standard deviation for the three
research questions while three hypotheses were tested using t-test at 0.05 level of significance. Major findings
revealed that serious steps are needed to better secure the cybers against cybercrimes. Motivation, types, threats
and strategies for the prevention of cybercrimes were identified. The study recommends that government,
organizations and individuals should place emphasis on moral development, regular training of its employees,
regular update of software, use strong password, back up data and information, produce strong cybersecurity
policy, install antivirus soft and security surveillance (CCTV) in offices in order to safeguard its employees and
properties from being hacked and vandalized.

The Chief Curator is duty bound to listen to
everything posted on the group.

25. The Facebook Group is up at https://
www.facebook.com/groups/276033312590415/
26. To join the group, you must agree to three things.
To Listen
(to as many
songs as
possible)
To Share
(your own work,
or your input, as
often as you can)
To Support
(each other with
comments, tips, or
by sharing each
other’s work.)
27. The group is closed, meaning to join, you will need
to PM one of the the admins (me or my moderators)
and ask for approval to join. This is NOT to exclude
anyone (because that would be a world of suck)—
it’s just so we can keep track of everyone and
implement our membership “system.”
28. [the membership system]
To keep L.i.T. organised and conducive for
collective creativity (we dare you to say that 10
times fast), we ask members to choose a
category of membership when you request
membership.

URGENTLY NEEDED!
!
These are the admins, moderators, and project
managers (for our future plans!) who help keep
the project running by compiling the
newsletter, monitoring discussions, inviting
new members, and taking care of our existing
members’ community needs.
!
This is a non-exclusive membership type
—Leaders can also choose to be listed in
another membership category.

Semi-professionals and professionals.
Those who have experience with music
and/or the music industry, either via
formal training or industry exposure (or
both). Mentors are there to inspire other
members, give constructive criticism, and
otherwise help the rest of the community
grow through their learning.

listeners
Movers are passionate amateurs who embrace
their instrument and thus have gathered
considerable knowledge in their field and
genre(s). They stand to benefit from Mentors’
advice, but can also give advice to each other,
and to the Explorers.
33. [membership categories]
mentors

listeners
Beginners looking for a supportive
community to ignite their musical
passion. Explorers post their works
primarily to gain constructive
feedback and advice on how to
improve, and will benefit from the support
and encouragement of the mentors,
movers, and listeners.

listeners
Music-lovers who, while not
playing music, are passionate
about hearing new music and
engaging with a musical
community. Are in the collective
to learn, to help share and
support, and perhaps to “get LiT”
and become an Explorer.
35. I am MOTIVATED. I am a mover.
I am GRATEFUL. I am a mentor.
I am COURAGEOUS. I am an explorer.
I am CURIOUS. I am a listener.
I am DEVOTED. I am a leader.
36. Members are asked to stay in one category for at
least SIX MONTHS before asking to change.
This is just to make sure you got the most out of your time
in that category.
