Social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ allow musicians and bands to easily connect with a worldwide audience at no cost. Posting on these sites provides free advertising and promotion. Websites also help promote bands by serving as a central hub to share news, sell merchandise, and stream music. While TV ads are expensive, they expose bands to potential new fans through preview music clips and music videos. Similarly, YouTube allows free promotion through uploaded music videos and acts like social media by notifying subscribers of new content. Both TV and YouTube ads have the benefit of combining visuals and audio to promote bands.
The document discusses how social media has become an important tool for music marketing and promotion. It allows artists and record companies to easily reach global audiences and analyze fan behavior online. Popular social media sites discussed include YouTube, SoundCloud, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. They allow artists to share music, videos, interviews and keep fans updated on new content and live shows. While powerful for connecting with fans worldwide, social media also requires a significant time commitment to create and publish content regularly.
Major music distribution companies like Warner, Sony, and Universal are responsible for marketing and distributing music videos and audio from major artists. They set release dates and make music available on platforms like iTunes, Spotify, and YouTube. However, independent artists cannot access these major distribution channels and must promote their own music videos through social media like Facebook and YouTube to gain exposure. Distributing independent music videos is a lower budget process than videos from major labels that are promoted through channels like Vevo.
Marketing involves promoting and selling products through activities like market research and advertising. In the music industry, marketing helps artists build fan bases who will purchase their music, tickets, and merchandise. Social media enables users to share and engage with content online and has become a popular way for celebrities like Rihanna to promote their music and interact with fans on sites like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. Other promotional methods for musicians include getting their music videos aired on television channels, gaining radio play to reach broad audiences, and securing coverage in newspapers and magazines which can comment on their music and personal lives.
The document analyzes the websites of two indie bands, Bombay Bicycle Club and Bastille. It notes that Bombay Bicycle Club's website prominently features their most recent music video and links to social media pages. It also allows fans to download, sample, and purchase music. The analysis finds that Bastille's website centers their band logo and provides links to follow them on Twitter, join their Facebook fan club, and view their YouTube channel in order to sample and purchase their music. Social media promotion is seen as vital for both bands to distribute and promote their music online.
How has you tube, vimeo and social media effected the music industry 07adanmu
YouTube and social media have significantly impacted the music industry by changing how music is produced, promoted, shared, and consumed. Digital downloads and streaming have largely replaced CDs as the primary means of accessing music. YouTube and other sites allow artists to self-promote and find audiences without traditional industry support, and social media has become a key tool for viral promotion and word-of-mouth growth of artist fanbases. Television channels like MTV have declined as YouTube and the internet deliver music videos on demand to a much larger global audience.
Music has been an integral part of social media since its inception. From sharing your favorite songs on platforms such as Twitter and Instagram, to creating playlists and streaming services, social media has revolutionized the way we interact with music. In this blog post, we will take a look at the impact of music on social media platforms, how social media has impacted the music industry, and the benefits of sharing music on social media. We will also explore the exciting new ways that social media is being used to promote and consume music.
This document provides examples of how bands can use various social media platforms to promote their music. It discusses how bands can use Myspace to upload and promote their music, connect with fans on Facebook by posting photos and updates, communicate with followers on Twitter, and share videos on YouTube to gain exposure. A case study example is also provided of a new band called Encore and how they are utilizing Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube to promote their work.

Social media has become integral to the music industry by allowing artists to connect directly with fans and promote their work. On YouTube, artists can self-publish music videos and performances, reaching wide audiences. Facebook allows artists to interact with fans through posts, shares, and likes, spreading awareness. The main television companies that show music videos are MTV, Planet Pop, Viva and 4Music. These are TV channels dedicated to airing the most popular music videos of the moment. While MTV and others only show music videos, 4Music also programs TV shows between videos to retain viewer interest. Music videos can also be found on their own dedicated channels sorted by genre. Additionally, smart TVs allow accessing music videos online and social media enables fans to share and discuss music videos, helping to promote awareness of new releases. The purpose of music videos is to visually represent the feeling and story behind a song in order to engage more viewers and increase sales and popularity for the artist and record label.

High performance Serverless Java on AWS- GoTo Amsterdam 2024Vadym Kazulkin
Java is for many years one of the most popular programming languages, but it used to have hard times in the Serverless community. Java is known for its high cold start times and high memory footprint, comparing to other programming languages like Node.js and Python. In this talk I'll look at the general best practices and techniques we can use to decrease memory consumption, cold start times for Java Serverless development on AWS including GraalVM (Native Image) and AWS own offering SnapStart based on Firecracker microVM snapshot and restore and CRaC (Coordinated Restore at Checkpoint) runtime hooks. I'll also provide a lot of benchmarking on Lambda functions trying out various deployment package sizes, Lambda memory settings, Java compilation options and HTTP (a)synchronous clients and measure their impact on cold and warm start times.

Chris Jones, Director of Product Management at BrainChip , presents the “Temporal Event Neural Networks: A More Efficient Alternative to the Transformer” tutorial at the May 2024 Embedded Vision Summit.
The expansion of AI services necessitates enhanced computational capabilities on edge devices. Temporal Event Neural Networks (TENNs), developed by BrainChip, represent a novel and highly efficient state-space network. TENNs demonstrate exceptional proficiency in handling multi-dimensional streaming data, facilitating advancements in object detection, action recognition, speech enhancement and language model/sequence generation. Through the utilization of polynomial-based continuous convolutions, TENNs streamline models, expedite training processes and significantly diminish memory requirements, achieving notable reductions of up to 50x in parameters and 5,000x in energy consumption compared to prevailing methodologies like transformers.
Integration with BrainChip’s Akida neuromorphic hardware IP further enhances TENNs’ capabilities, enabling the realization of highly capable, portable and passively cooled edge devices. This presentation delves into the technical innovations underlying TENNs, presents real-world benchmarks, and elucidates how this cutting-edge approach is positioned to revolutionize edge AI across diverse applications.
