The student interviewed a classmate named Tom about cars to gain interview experience. Some things that went well were that the student learned a lot of new factual and experiential information about cars, got valuable practice conducting an interview, and felt the questions asked obtained thorough answers. However, the audio recording quality was poor due to background noise. In the future, the student will record backup audio and ask more follow up questions. Being in a group of three for the interview limited time for each person, though the necessary information was obtained. The process helped the student understand how to conduct an enjoyable interview for their upcoming project.

1. Interview Refection
I interviewedTomaboutcars,he knewa lotof informationabouttheirhistory,whattypesof cars
there are and the parts of the car. It was an interestinginterview asIdon’treallyknow anything
aboutthemotherthan what’s general knowledge andwhatI’ve seenonTopGear,so it wasgood to
hearabout a topicI don’tknowa lotabout andto also at the same time getexperience conducting
an interview ratherthanbeingthe one interviewed.Ialsoenjoyedtalkingtosomeone else thatid
not usuallytalkto,I mainlystayincircle of friendswheninlessonandIdon’treallyhave the
confidence tojustbe able totalk tosomeone Idon’tknow so itwas goodthat I was forcedto talkto
someone else.
Some thingsthatwentwell were thatone Igot a lotof useful informationbothfactual and
experience wise,I’mnotusuallythe one interviewingsomeonesoitwasgood to getthat experience
and ithad alsoshownme what to do andexpectwheninterviewingformyproject.Althoughthe
informationIgotwasn’treallyuseful tome butit’salwaysinterestingtotalkaboutsomethingthat
someone else isinterestedin regardlessof if youneedtoknow it,whensomeonetalkingabout
somethingthey’repassionate aboutitmakesthemhappyand youcan hear that inmy recording
especiallywhenIaskaboutfavourite carsand brands.Anotherthingthatwentwell wasthatI got all
the informationIneeded,all myquestionswere answeredwell andthoroughlysoIgot as much
informationasIneedif notmore.This wasgood because itpreparesme forhow much informationI
will be dealingwithwhenIactuallydothe interviewforthe project,I’ll probablyhavealotof
informationwhenIdothe actual thingsas I’minterviewingaboutanexperienceratherthana topic.
The last thingthat wentwell wasthe questionsIasked,IfeltIwas clearand got myquestionsacross
well,Ithinktheywere appropriate forthe topicanddidn’tsteerawayfromitwhichissomethingI
was afraidof happening.The questionsalsogotalot of good informationfromTomandhave setme
up to write evenbetterquestionswhenIwrite themformyproject,althoughtheywillebdifferent
theywill have arelevance andbe able toget informationfromwhoeverI’minterviewing.
Somethingsthatdidn’tgowell were the audiorecordings,thisdowntobeingnearotherpeople
doinginterviews,we didn’trealise until we gotbackthat there wasso much noise,inthe future Iwill
checkthe recordingbefore leaving.Althoughitsnotthe bestaudioIstill feel thatit’sagood
interview andyoucanstill hearwhatyouneedto whichisthe mainthing.I the future as a
precautionIwill recordtwosessionsof the interview justincase the audioisbador one of the
recordingscorruptsor getsdeleted.Anotherthingthatdidn’tgogreatwasthe numberof questions

I could’ve askedwhatgothimintocars or do you enjoydrivingyourself,whatkindof car he has if he
drives.Itdidn’treallyimpactthe interviewtoo much, butI feel Imissedthe markhere.The lastthing
that I feltcould’ve gone betterwas the factwe were a trio,thismeantthere was lesstime forusto
getall the informationwe neededas there waslesstime foreachpersonandit felta little bit
rushed.Despite thisIdidgetall the informationIneededand there wasnoway of avoidingthisdue
to the class beinganoddnumber but,in the future, itwouldbenefitall of usinthe group if we were
inpairs. Whendoingmy ownprojectthis won’tbe an issue asI’m onlyinterviewingone person.
The processof beinginterviewedwas fun,asIsaidearlier,talkingaboutthingswe are passionate
aboutis enjoyable,Italkedaboutagame I reallylikedplayingand itwasfun to talkabout.The
questionsIwasasked were goodandstuck to the topic,theywere well researchedandthought
about. Thisin the future andfor my projecthashelpedme asI know what an enjoyableinterview is
like andcan nowdo one similarformyinterviewee. Iknow how to come upwithgood questions,
were toresearchand what’sappropriate toask.
