Vibe is a music and entertainment magazine founded in 1993 that focuses on R&B and hip hop. It was originally owned by producer Quincy Jones and Time Inc. but is now privately owned. Rap music originated in South Africa in the 1970s and is generally popular among African and African American communities. It uses poetic lyrics with rhyming words set to a beat. Old school rap from the 1970s-1990s featured artists like Run DMC, LL Cool J, and Tupac Shakur. Present rap remains popular and blends with genres like pop and R&B, including artists like Drake, Kanye West, and ASAP Rocky. While rap lyrics can discuss real life, some argue present rap contains overly explicit language, sexual references, and violence that may influence youth.

Assessment of knowledge of patients treated with statinsJovana Peri?
This document summarizes a study that assessed patients' knowledge about statin use. The study used a questionnaire to interview 93 patients being treated with statins. The results showed that most patients (88%) knew why they were taking statins, but only 24% knew how long they would need to take them. While 94% received lifestyle suggestions, only 17% knew about potential side effects and 46% were unaware of side effects. 30% did not monitor their liver function as recommended. The conclusion is that patient knowledge of statin treatment is unsatisfactory and pharmacists should provide more education through both oral counseling and written materials to improve patient understanding of statins.

The document provides details about planning an article on the band Ambushed Reality, including biographical information on the two band members Lewis Corbett and Scott Boardman, who are from Birmingham, England. It discusses their musical influences, including Imagine Dragons, and their 2016 album "Digital Vision" which reached #4 on the charts within a week of its release despite taking 10 years to complete. The band got their start opening for Enter Shikari and collaborating with Imagine Dragons, helping them gain a large fan base. One of their songs references a friend who died from smoking too much.
Record labels handle the marketing, distribution, production and promotion of music recordings and videos. They also own the copyright to the songs. There are major record labels, which are often owned by larger parent companies, and independent labels. The author's artist would be suited to Epic Records, a major label owned by Sony Music Entertainment, as it has a variety of genres like pop rock and has had successful artists in different genres. Record labels protect the artist's original work through copyright ownership and decide who can benefit financially from the songs.
Universal Music Group would be the best record label for the band Gold City. Universal represents a variety of artists across different genres, including more niche alternative artists that fit the style of Gold City. As a large record label, Universal also has experience successfully marketing and representing niche artists. In contrast, Interscope and RCA are better suited to more mainstream pop and urban artists, whereas Gold City fits into a smaller alternative genre that Universal could help expose to the right audience.
Universal Music Group would be the best record label for the band Gold City. Universal represents a variety of artists across different genres, including more niche alternative artists that fit the style of Gold City. As a large record label, Universal also has experience successfully marketing and representing different types of musical acts. In contrast, Interscope Records and RCA Records were rejected because they focus more on mainstream pop and other popular genres that do not match Gold City's target niche audience.
Major record labels account for 70% of music sales worldwide and 85% of music sales in the U.S. The four largest major record labels are Universal Music Group, Sony BMG Music Entertainment, EMI Group, and Warner Music Group. Each label has various subsidiary labels and represents top recording artists. The document also notes that the band The Gaslight Anthem is signed to Mercury Records, which is part of Universal Music Group.

This document summarizes research conducted on Park Ave CDs, a record store in Orlando, Florida. It defines albums and EPs, noting an Aphex Twin EP contains 7 tracks while a Jonas Brothers album has between 7-29 tracks. The store offers consignment to indie and local artists. An event promoted exclusive vinyl releases from various artists. For Record Store Day 2023, the store will sell a Kenny Rogers 2 LP set. The store sells merchandise like shirts and accessories on its website. It promotes new weekly releases. In-store promotion with artists would benefit both the artist and store.
1. The document discusses conventions of music video genres including indie rock, jazz, and synthpop.
2. For indie rock music videos, conventions include live performance footage, a dark color scheme, and portraying the lead singer as confident.
3. For synthpop videos, there are no set trends for artist image and many fans don't know what musicians look like. For jazz videos, the iconic image is formal wear from the genre's origins.

User Experience Engineering
Assignment 7
What is your user persona and stories?
My user person is Rick “Rocky” Smops, a 43 year old professor at a community college in northeast Ohio.
Rocky runs a record label and djs in his spare time.
● Rocky wants to buy an album from a band that he cannot find.
● Rocky is unable to find a record in his local record store that he needs ASAP for a present.
● Rocky needs suggestions for records for his upcoming DJ gig
○ Rocky organizes his past searches for upcoming gigs.
What is the approximate size of your user population?
The approximate size of the user population is difficult to distinguish. Interstellar Records is based
on music distribution company Forced Exposure, which houses media from around 500 independent
labels. Almost half of these labels are exclusively distributed through Forced Exposure, so FE can
account for all sales of records on these labels. When Forced Exposure is not the exclusive
distributor of a label, they acquire anywhere from 1% to 80% of the records.
Notably, there were 94 albums that sold at least 10,000 copies on vinyl in 2014 up tremendously
from 46 titles in 2013. 57 percent of all vinyl albums sold in 2014 were purchased at independent
stores, while another 36 percent were shifted through nontraditional retailers (such as Webbased
stores like Amazon.com and clothing/lifestyle chains like Hot Topic and Urban Outfitters).
14)).
Note that Forced Exposure distributes to Urban Outfitters, though this does not apply as part of the
user population, because those figures are considered to be distribution sales, not customer sales.
With vinyl sales increases more than steadily every year and no indication of slowing down,
Interstellar is in a great place. Not only can they rely on their return customers who have been
ordering records from them since the 80’s, but now they can look forward to obtaining a new
generation of millennial users who are learning to love vinyl. This is not even including the other
media Interstellar offers CDs, cassettes (also on the rise), apparel, DVDs, magazines, books, art,
and other collectibles. While they may serve a niche market, Interstellar is one of the few premier
names in this particular industry, so they have one of the larger user populations. Considering their
sales from last quarter (which I am unable to disclose due to promised confidentiality) were much
higher than expected, I would say that their potential user population is approximately 20,000 users.
What is your expected frequency and duration of user sessions, approximately?
I was unsure about this, so I did an informal poll of 10 friends who buy records at least once a month from
an online distributor. From my research I gleaned there are two main types of user sessions. The first is
really quick under 3 minutes. This is when the customer is familiar with the web app and knows the exact
item they would like to purchase: they will sign in, locate the record, make the purchase, and then log out.
