Job Title: Market research analyst
Department: Marketing and sales
Report to: Marketing manager
Job Statement:
Gathersand conveysinformationtohelpcompaniesdetermine theirpositioninthe marketplace. Thisinformation
entailsdataon competitors,analyzingtheirprices,sales,andmethodsof marketinganddistribution. May conduct
researchon consumeropinionsandmarketingstrategies,collaboratingwithmarketingprofessionals,statisticians,
pollsters,andotherprofessionals.
Job Duties:
1. Identify informationbycategorizing,estimating,recognizingdifferencesorsimilarities,anddetectingchangesin
circumstancesorevents inthe marketplace.
2. Provide informationtosupervisors,co-workers,andsubordinatesby translatingorexplainingwhat specific
marketinformationmeansandhowitcan be usedinthe firm’sbestinterest.
3. Use relevantinformationandindividual judgmenttodeterminewhethereventsorprocessescomplywithlaws,
regulations,orstandards.
4. Use computersandcomputersystemstoprogram, write software,setupfunctions,enterdata,orprocess
information.
5. Develop constructiveandcooperativeworkingrelationshipswithothers,andmaintainingthemovertime.
6. Communicate withpeople outside the organization,representingthe organizationtocustomers,the public,
government,andotherexternalsources.
7. Establish long-range objectivesandspecifythe strategiesandactionstoachieve them.
Job Specifications:
1. A four-yearbachelor'sdegreepreferredbutnotrequired.
2. Three to five yearsworkrelatedexperienceamust. ( relatedfieldsare –accounting,salesmanagement,
database administration,andcostestimation)
3. The abilitytotell whensomethingiswrongoris likelytogowrong.It doesnotinvolve solvingthe problem, only
recognizingthere isaproblem.
4. The abilitytocome up withunusual orcleverideasabouta giventopicor situation,ortodevelopcreativeways
to solve aproblem.
5. The abilitytoidentify complex problemsandreview relatedinformationtodevelopandevaluateoptionsand
implementsolutions.
6. The abilitytoidentifymeasuresorindicatorsof systemperformance andthe actionsneededtoimprove or
correct performance,relative tothe goals of the system.
