Line and
 Angles
Learning Outcomes
• Recognise angles.
• Recognise, compare and classify angles
as acute, right, obtuse and reflex.
What is a LINE?
• A straight path in a plane that goes on
  forever in opposite directions

 Example:

• line AB or line BA
What is a POINT?
• An exact location in space, usually
  represented by a dot

 Example:

 point A
ANGLE
LINE
ACUTE ANGLE
an angle that is less than 90°
By using protactor
RIGHT ANGLE
 an angle that is 90° exactly
By using protactor
OBTUSE ANGLE
an angle that is greater than 90° but less
than 180°
By using protactor
REFLEX ANGLE
an angle that is greater than 180°
By using protactor

Ask student to look around them and ask them to
describe something about the type of angle
Activity 1:
Hunt for some angles in your
                  classroom
Student will take a drawing paper and draw The
  Angle Finder:
                       right

acute obtuse
Place the left side of your Put the corner of your
angle along this side straw on the dot
You need:
Straw
What to do:
1) Use the straw to match the angle in your
classroom. When you find an angle, bend
  the straw to match it.
• Hold the bent straw up to the Angle
Finder. It will tell you which kind of angle
  you have found.
• As you find each type of angle, list on the
  Angle Chart.
• Then straighten out the straw and start
  again

Activity 2:
    Angles from A to Z
Angles are hiding everywhere
even in the words you’re reading
now.
When two straight lines meet,
they make an angle.
What to do:
1) Student will be given a handout that have
   work.
2) Ask them to take look at the letter in the
   word given.
3) Circle each angle they see in the lettets.
Label whether it is right, acute or obtuse
   angle.
Example:

MATH
TIME
An acute angle is greater than 90⁰.

                             A) FALSE

                             B) TRUE
An obtuse angle is greater than 90⁰ but less
 than 180 ⁰.

                               A) TRUE

                             B) FALSE
A straight angle measure 180⁰.

                            A) TRUE

                            B) FALSE
A right angle does not measure 90 ⁰.

                             A) TRUE

                            B) FALSE
