25Gb Link Establishment InterOp
Currently, not all 25Gb vendors are 25Gb-spec compliant:
•  Some doesn’t support AN (CL-73) – this is required by spec for DA cables
•  Some support only Consortium AN and not IEEE802.3by
•  Some doesn’t support FEC – FEC is mandatory in 25G link speed
•  Some support only BaseR-FEC and not RS-FEC – RS-FEC must be used when operating with long DA cables or
optical SR modules
•  Any mix & match of the above
FVL25 implements an LESM (Link Establishment State Machine) to establish link with all
non-spec compliant link-partners
Supported Accessories
•  SFP28 DAC (CR/CRS) Using auto-negotiation (CL-73) for both IEEE803.2by and 25G-Consortium,
•  25GbE SR optics
•  10G-SFI for SFP+ DA cables and SR/LR optical modules
•  QSFP28 to 4 SFP28 breakout cables.
