This document outlines a proposal for a research project on tourism sector integration in Southeast Asian countries. The proposal discusses conducting relevant investigations and literature reviews on the challenges and economic contributions of regional tourism integration. The purpose is to identify how integrated tourism can boost economies and maintain positive effects in the region and participating countries. It will provide recommendations for implementing an integrated tourism sector, including a roadmap and contingency plan. The research intends to bridge theory and practice for policymakers and contribute to understanding potential benefits of integration and tourism-led development. A work plan outlines preparation, data collection, analysis, and draft/defense timeline from October 2011 to May 2012.
