To keep pace with the demand and pressure to reduce CO2 emissions, a shift to sustainable building materials for housing and infrastructure must still be continued.
Cement manufacturers can make significant progress toward sustainability goals with alternative fuels and efficiency projects by reducing clinker content through cementitious additives (SCM).
Alternative Fuel Market After Covid-19 – Focus on Efficiency and QualityLOESCHE
Covid-19 has changed the way people interact with each other and the way business is done. Now is the time to change the paradigm regarding alternative fuel projects towards a more holistic approach in order to ensure investment efficiency. Simple and cheap (at first) shall give way to smart, flexible, and sustainable concepts. Suppliers shall give way to partners.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

of our customers.
This has been our philosophy
since the founding of our
company in 1906.
We are a company with a long tradition – and we are proud of it.
Patented in 1928, our roller grinding mill technology has been con-
tinually advanced and in the meantime is synonymous with our

In our “Technikum” – our own R&D department – engineers work
on developing and refining customised grinding technology and
comminution process concepts.
Quality assurance is one of our key concerns. We work in strict com-
pliance with DIN EN ISO 9001. Each individual step is examined; no
product leaves our premises without first having been subjected to
extensive functional testing.
We are committed to environmental technology. Conserving energy
and water are key issues for us, as is our goal of continually optimis-
ing the ecological balance.

10. Proven technology always
results in higher efficiency.
Over many decades, we have successfully asserted our technological
leadership in the market. Loesche mills have earned a worldwide
reputation as the best machinery for comminuting diverse raw ma-
terials.
We deliver roller grinding mills with two, three, four or six grinding
rollers, fulfilling all imaginable performance requirements. Whether
cement raw material, cement clinker, granulated slag, minerals, ore
or coal – for every specific requirement, we design and project-plan
customised grinding, processing and drying plants as well as hot gas
generators.
Tried-and-tested standard modules are configured into a tailored
solution – without any interface problems. Moreover, we take care
of all ancillary aspects: from the storage of raw materials in mixing
beds and bunkers to the visual inspection and intermediate storage
of finished goods, on through to the complete loading station – all
from a single source.

11. The very best idea alone
probably doesn’t help much
to solve a problem.
A good concept is the
product of hard work.
Listening attentively and proactive thinking are virtues that we
expect from all our employees. They form the basis for creative
ideas and well-founded know-how. Equally important is that
we take time for in-depth discussions with our customers and
constantly strive to find a better solution.
Experience shows that spontaneous ideas alone are insuffi-
cient. Each new project is a new challenge, nevertheless offers an
opportunity for a 100% custom-made solution. Constructive
cooperation, lateral thinking and unimpeded communication
make it possible for us to flexibly master exceptional tasks as well.
In our test center, we calculate the best configuration for all
machinery and plants, always tailored to our customers’ basic
materials. The computer simulations developed by Loesche make
the entire process technology transparent.
Our pre-service offers the best possible investment security. Long-
term budgets can also be projected based on the data we have
determined. This certainty is increasingly becoming a success
factor for us.
20 21
12. Our customers expect
extraordinary reliability,
ease of operation and
minimal maintenance
expenditures.
Our plants should be simple to operate and run without error. The
people who work with our technology should enjoy it – an increas
ingly important factor. Thus, even after plant commissioning, we ne-
ver leave our customers alone. Not for a moment. Experienced em-
ployees erect the plant on-site and monitor the start-up phase.
Upon request, our engineers can train the customer’s plant team
on-site or at a reference plant. We can make recommendations on
stocking spare parts and also offer continuous plant monitoring and
inspection within the scope of a service contract. Most of our custo-
mers are happy to take advantage of this. This way we are able to en-
sure the functional reliability of each plant according to the technical
state-of-the-art, production capacity, fineness and residual moisture
content of the end product. We also cater for the specific energy re-
quirement and give a minimum 20-year delivery commitment for all
original manufacturer spare parts.

13. Innovation in the refinement
of solid fuels is also a tradition
with us. It is our goal to grow
in the fuel technologies sector
and become the world market
leader.
We have many years of experience in milling solid fuels in large
industrial plants. Peat pellets, wood byproducts and even ol-
ive pits are being refined into valuable fuels. The growing trend
towards combining alternative and conventional fuels fosters
sustainable reductions of CO2 emissions. This is in line with
our tenet of building industrial plants with the lowest possible
emissions and the greatest reliability. Our experience to date
and our customers’ satisfaction confirm the correctness of this
principle.

14. Developing a tried-and-tested
method for new applications
is a very exciting task.
Spreading a good idea is generally very enticing. Often, however,
the practical limitations are quickly reached. Customers’ require-
ments are simply too unique. Apart from all customised solutions,
though, there are still fundamental process engineering princi-
ples of an overriding nature. True, of course; then at some point,
the material-related and economic boundary conditions change.
Entirely new prospects arise. Then, everything else is just a
matter of making the necessary investment and the question of
how much time and energy you are willing to commit. Some will-
ingness to take risks is also called for, of course. We experienced
this with respect to our new technology for processing highly
abrasive ores. Our work will result in a paradigm change in ore
processing.

15. The challenges of the future
are easy to identify.
The innovative use of vertical mills for processing ore was intro-
duced by Loesche. The comminution, crushing or grinding of
the rock using conventional techniques wastes more than approx.
50% of the energy costs incurred in the entire ore mining process.
With this efficient dry-processing method, we offer significant
water and energy savings. The use of Loesche grinding technol-
ogy not only provides advantages in the comminution process, but
also downstream in the ore-sorting processes. These advantages
derive from the grinding characteristics of the Loesche mills and
the resulting improvement in the ground product. At the same
time, the investment requirement is smaller – even for machinery
with a very high material throughput. We consider this also to be
sustainability.

16. Top quality and an excellent
price-performance ratio are
not contradictory.

17. You can compute and
simulate anything. When
computers reach their
limits, however, that’s where
intuition begins.
32 Silke Schlegel 33
18. For the most part, a person
can shape their own future.
One must just wisely adapt
to everything else.
Our customers have control over which technology they want
to pursue in the future. In this regard, choosing the right concept
usually determines economic success.
Consequently, we are convinced that our methods – based on
sustainable, full-cost accounting – are always advantageous in
comparison with those of the competition. That is the simplest
explanation for our success in international markets.
34 Dr. Joachim Kirchmann 35
19. We want our customers to
always be a step ahead of
their competitors. That’s why
we are there where you are.
Around the world.
In the roller grinding mill market, we are the global leader
and have representatives and agents throughout the world.
Our local management speaks the respective language of our
customers. This simplifies communication and ensures effective
cooperation based on trust. We are there for you – whenever and
wherever you need us.

21. OUT
LOOK
In the years ahead, the focus will be on rede-
signing the future – our future. Technological
progress will require us to reconsider things
once again. Methods that seemed unimagin-
able just a few years ago will be commonplace
in the future. We are on the verge of effecting a
paradigm change – particularly with regard to
the processing of ores. With our new mill tech-
nology, we are now in a position to largely sup-
plant conventional methods – to the benefit of
greater economic efficiency and fundamentally
improved environmental compatibility. We
are setting new standards – with reduced en-
ergy consumption and doing without water. If
you would like to find out more about this
“paradigm change”, please contact us directly
