2010
Directed by James Wann
Shots of Victims
Everyone's happy long shots and quick takes of
different enjoyable times they had.
Zooms in and slow panning is used to connote
the reaction shots.
Shots of the Aggressor
Shadows behind the window curtains and a
shadow silhouette in the child's room (long
shot) standing next to the bed. A horror face
behind the dad using an over the shoulder shot
to show “The devil” behind him.
Graphic Content
As the trailer starts “Insidious” is shown but
glitches showing the genre horror, insidious
appears more then once, zooms in on a yellow
against black background which shows a strong
contrast.
Sound techniques
Starts with diegetic sound coming from the
clicking.
Non diegetic sound used (stringed instruments)
start when the aggressor is shown, and starts to
get louder and picks up the pace towards the
end.
Editing Techniques
Zoomed the creature coming towards the
camera at the end in fast motion not allowing
the audience to catch a good appearance on the
antagonist. Lots of sharp cuts and crosscutting
over sort takes to keep the audience engaged.
Camera Techniques
Panning used.
Over the shoulder shots used to show the
aggressor behind the victim this allows the
audience to know something that the victim
doesn't’t, at the end there are about 6 shots in
10 seconds (short takes).
Locations
Big house
Mostly dark locations within the house are used.
When with others lighter locations are used, this
could show safety is in numbers.
