• The short film begins in a hybrid between a
documentary and film, the mise-en-scene is
crowded and overwhelming to look at with
desaturated color grading.
• The camera is placed in a position where it
looks as if the protagonist is being watched
by someone else, this is shown through the
objects crowding the frame; obstructing the
character.

• In the next scene, the shot is almost
perfectly symmetrical, which is figurative as
it is showing the split personality occurring in
the character.
• The documentary style continues as an
interview is performed while using both over
the shoulder and two shots both “characters”
avoid eye contact with the camera or break
the fourth wall which keeps the film feel
throughout this scene in the short film.

• The documentary part of the short film
becomes observational, the camera
goes back to shooting from a long
distance away from the characters in the
scene.
• This is done so that we can see the
public walking around the scene and to
give off the feeling like what we are
seeing is real and unscripted; the scene
would have a different feeling if it was
shot differently. A setup shot with a
calculated cinematography would feel
staged and artificial to the audience.

• At this point in the short film, the
protagonist meets a woman and
appears to be in love with her, the
camera is out of focus on both the
characters and the color grading has
changed ‘cool’ color temperature which
gives the scene a dream-like feeling.
• The angle of the shot also throws the
audience off the moment by being off
center and almost ‘disconnected’ to the
main characters in the scene.

• The suspected dream sequence continues as the
‘perfect’ mise en scene is created during this scene.
• The lighting with the sun penetrating the trees and
scattering on to the leaves between the two characters
in this two-shot used creates this perfect dream
atmosphere in the scene.
• This makes the audience feel happy for the main
character, also using slow motion filming to convey this
happiness, who has been going through turmoil
throughout the short film, however, the begin to
question the reality of the scenes that are playing out.

• Further on, the character's happy
moments are ended with the
dead of his "child", to show this
the shot used is a dutch-tilt angle
which has been desaturated in
post-production to make the
scene moody.
• The shot throws off the
equilibrium for the audience to
prepare them for the upcoming
scenes.

• It turns out the scenes shown before
were a fantasy of the main character,
to show that the fantasy with the girl
we saw before was fictional, a low
angle over-the-shoulder shot has
been used to show the emotional
dominance the woman has over him.
• The shot is also out of focus to
display the character's state of mind
which is foggy and irregular.

• At the end of the short film, a
wide shot has been used to set
the ending scene of the film.
• The weather and exposure of
the camera have been used in
tandom to end the film with the
established moody feel and
downwards spiral that the
character has travelled down.
