2. Abstract
Development, a multidimensional and significant term, a way to attain sustainable change
towards betterment considered, not a very good news, is designed wrong by the former
colonizers. Modernization, used as a weapon to hold the colonial power in a developed manner
but showed as a way to attain economic growth and development in today’s world, brought a lot
of betterments for the world with some new way to exploit the third world, indeed. Economic
growth, an important player, often found in a tradeoff relationship with inequality, be it gender or
income. In equality, indeed an obstacle to development attainment surprisingly found good for
economy to some extent. Despite, it need to be controlled to maintain a balance.
However, Inequality and Modernity are two contemporary and significant keys to development,
need to be addressed profoundly with proper measurements.

3. Summarization of the DevelopmentFair
Development fair, arranged by PKSF, indeed a wonderful step from where people can get to earn
a lot of experiences regarding development process performed by NGOs. NGO s sometimes acts
as a bridge in between the producers and the national market which helps to increase the profit
margin of the producers of the villages. This fair helped to understand the real scenario of a third
world country which is struggling every day.
Regarding Major aspects, I particularly want to mention the stalls of the NGOs which were full
of products made by women with the help of microcredit. Apart from that, I found few bookstalls
with a rare collection that attracted me a lot.
During the fair, I have visited many stalls and among those, ‘Dak Diye Jai’ is one which drew
my attention as they primarily work with Early Marriage Eradication. Among a lot of stalls, I
found it is probably the only one which works with Early Marriage Issue Primarily though
almost all the NGOs work with some sort of similar problems; despite I found it unique. The
Coordinator of Dak Diye Jai, Mr. Md. Atiqur Rahman has mentioned that, “Development is
vague if women are not being participated and unfreedom itself is a form of underdevelopment.”
Thus, I liked this NGO due to their unique working protocol.
As my term paper topic about modernity, inequality and development, I found the early marriage
issue related with it as early marriage can be countered by the modernization process which
denotes the gender inequality in a big manner. Besides, early marriage is a form of unfreedom
which is a underdevelopment according to the Sen’s perspective.
This study is different from our classroom study by only one means to me, that is, it possesses
the practical view which is absent on the classroom learnings.
The fair’s stalls are basically working for the women which is a good initiative to eradicating
gender and income inequality by using the technology and other modern tools, indeed a result of
modernization. Such initiatives will ultimately lead to Development one day, if it is continued in
an ethical and effective manner.
Overall, the fair was very effective in terms of observations of practical implications of the
development theories to a small extent although. Besides, it helps to mitigate the monotony of
the regular study, indeed.
