-To set our expectations of you and let you know what you can expect from us

-To outline sources of help, guidance and support within college via personal tutors and support
teams

 Your course induction will provide you with all the information you need to be successful
 We will ensure you have the opportunity to give feedback on the quality of your experience of
college and we will listen and respond
 Your lessons will be well planned with a range of learning opportunities to best suit your needs

challenge you
 Your assessments will be well planned with timely feedback which helps you improve
 Your personal tutor will agree your learning targets with you and will give you regular feedback
on your progress towards achievement

Absence Reporting
Absence Policy
To report an absence please ring the main college number
0151 252 3000.
Absences can be reported from 8.30am and the following
information is required:-
Name of student and
date of birth
Person code
(printed on the membership card)
OR
An email is sent to tutors to inform them of
your absence and any message if required
Authorised Absence
Some absences may be classified as authorised and in these
cases students will be marked as present on College registers.
Maintaining a high level of attendance is important for the following
reasons:
•It can affect your eligibility to receive payments from the college’s
Learner Support Fund
•For eligible learners, it can affect your ability to receive your bursary
payment.
•It may affect your eligibility to sit your examinations
•It may affect your ability to receive travel support
Employability
Employment and Enterprise Zone (EEZ) – What’s in it for you?
The EEZ will help students:
•Determine your career path and identify key strengths
•Compile a CV, complete job applications and prepare for
interviews
•Offer new skills or additional training to meet current job
vacancies
•Secure work placements with local employers
•Search for relevant work and offer ongoing support once
employed

Support need is assessed by the relevant team
It is flexible and designed to meet your needs
to enable you to succeed on your course
It takes place inside or outside the classroom
and can be 1:1
Learning Mentors
Learning Mentors can provide one to one support, a listening ear, help you with
study skills and help to improve your grades. Your Personal Tutor can put you in
touch with a Learning Mentor or you can book an appointment by logging onto the
VLE. Learning Mentors can help with:
• making sense of assignments
• building portfolios and managing your time
• writing great essays and reports
• locating resources and developing research techniques
• developing revision plans and strategies
• encouraging you to be more motivated on your course
• building confidence
• making sense of assignments

Student Representatives and the Student Union!
Every group/class of students will elect a member to represent them at course team
meetings with the course staff. This provides an opportunity for students to express their
opinions, give comments about the course, raise any issues on behalf of their peer group
and receive feedback and news of progress from the staff.
•Training on how to perform well as a Student Rep will be offered online, or by sessions
put on by the Students Union and the college’s Student Engagement Team.
•Student Reps will also be invited to focus groups with senior managers to voice concerns
or appraisal of your experiences at college.
•Student Reps will be offered the chance to put themselves forward to be School Reps
and to represent their school on the Student Parliament, where they’ll help to make
decisions about how the union represents students, organises activities, looks after
student welfare and spends the union budget.
•Contact the Student Union President on 252 3683 if you are interested in getting
involved in your Union.

  • 33. Student Representatives and the Student Union! Every group/class of students will elect a member to represent them at course team meetings with the course staff. This provides an opportunity for students to express their opinions, give comments about the course, raise any issues on behalf of their peer group and receive feedback and news of progress from the staff. •Training on how to perform well as a Student Rep will be offered online, or by sessions put on by the Students Union and the college’s Student Engagement Team. •Student Reps will also be invited to focus groups with senior managers to voice concerns or appraisal of your experiences at college. •Student Reps will be offered the chance to put themselves forward to be School Reps and to represent their school on the Student Parliament, where they’ll help to make decisions about how the union represents students, organises activities, looks after student welfare and spends the union budget. •Contact the Student Union President on 252 3683 if you are interested in getting involved in your Union.
