2. My Insect
Moth

3. A moth is an insect that is related to the
butterfly that is chiefly nocturnal. When
mating the male moth will chase a potential
mate until she falls to the ground. Depending
on the species, the male may flap his
wings, move his antennae and release
pheromones from tufts of hair on his
thorax, legs, abdomen or wings. The male
moth will mount the female to mate, mating is
often very brief.

4. My Plant
Nepenthes ( Pitcher Plant)

5. Nepenthes or commonly known as the
pitcher plant, are carnivorous plants that
produce flowers. Nepenthes plants needs a
male plant and a female plant to reproduce
because it can’t do so by itself.

6. My Site

7. My site is in RiverStone Eco Resort, it is at
the river that runs along the resort. We picked
this place because it has a small “island” near
the bank on the far side. We picked that place
also because it is in the water therefore there
will be many type of life forms in and around
the bank of the river. The place was
interesting and beautiful.

8. Meetings
We had a meeting right after receiving our
project to discuss the name of our group and also
what we would do at the site once we got there.
We also discussed what we would need when we
reached the site based on the list that was given
to us by our lecturers and also what we would
need personally as a group. We then has another
meeting a few days before the trip to make sure
we had everything we needed for the trip and
also to compile the data we researched on the
Resort we were heading to.

9. On the day of the trip we all felt extremely
excited to be finally going to the resort. After
reaching the resort we were told where our
dorms are and to go and unpack the things we
need for our investigation. Then we got a
briefing from the people working at the resort
on what we should and shouldn’t do while
working on our sites. After the briefing we
went out to search for the site we wanted to
investigate and observe.

10. After 30 minutes of searching for our site we finally
decided on a place at the rivers bank. We started off by
measuring out our 10X10 site and then immediately
got to observing the site and taking notes from our
observations. We also investigated the plants and
insects that lived in and surrounding our site. After
taking pictures and notes we went to lunch with the
rest of our class before going back to our site and
continuing our investigation and observation. Later on
our lecturer told us to stop for awhile and enjoy nature
which we did by playing in the shallow river.

11. We then went to clean, have dinner and have a little
activity by building our own groups logo using only things
from nature such as rocks leaves and so on. After we
finished our logo we had to present it in front of everyone
and then a winner has to be judged. We were offered
desert after that and was followed by a discussion with our
lecturer on our project and what we got from the site that
day. My group returned to our site after that to observe
and investigate it to see the difference in the environment
during the night. The next day we started of by collecting
the last bit of data and then starting on our video
documentary. We had lunch before doing our packing up to
leave for campus, we all had our regrets of leaving nature
and its peaceful and beautiful scenery.

12. During the weeks that followed we compiled and
organised the data and information that we had
collected at the site brainstormed for unique and
creative infographics. While incorporating the
suggestions of our lecturer and also keeping in mind
that we are researching on the relationship of the
ecosystem. We then came up with a theme that will
connect the living organisms we found and the
ecosystem. We chose the theme of reproduction, that
was approved and liked by our lecturer. We continued
to look through different layouts that was infographic
and also detailed so that the information is clear and
understandable.

13. At last we came up with scales and comparisons to show
our information in a unique and interesting way. We
researched more about the reproduction of both our
insects and also plants and planned out a story line for our
boards to keep them uniform and inter-connected so that
readers will know where to start and where to end. We
used colour paper to represent different plants and insects
and also to make the boards interesting, stand out and
catch readers eyes. Along the way there was
disagreements and frustration as well as stress but we are
pleased with the out come of this project and also proud of
our work because we worked hard on this project. I am so
very grateful that my members are my members and that
we were together the whole way through.
